- To move the New York National Guard's Band from the Upper East Side to the East Village following the conclusion of the St. Patrick's day parade, a special "Troop Train" was operated along the Q line from 86th St to 23rd St.
This year, the service was provided by a brand-new R211A! This is quite interesting since the R211A does not normally run on the Q. The train then returned to Pitkin Yard via the D and A lines.
The MTA is widely considered to have one of the most robust and impressive special-events operations in the transit industry and serves as an example of industry best-practice in this regard. Enjoy this look at an expertly executed operation!

It’s amazing to see that to celebrate St. Paddy’s Day
Always nice to have a train dedicated to these guys. As for the R211, this may be its only time here until the R46s start going away.
The R211s fit with the 2nd Av Subway so well…
personally i feel that all NTT's fit well on the SAS but the r46 really hits home imo as it was built FOR this line
@@TSgotstolengoddamm Technically it was the R44 cars that were built for SAS service, but still pretty close.
Nice work on the video I really like it plus happy St Patrick's Day man
Kudos to the MTA for their fleet of Special Event trains. 💚👍👍
Good Afternoon Roger. it's patrick day on R211
Happy St Patrick’s Day!
Amazing video ❤

1:20 R42 jumpscare?
So This Means That This One 1 Is Going On The Second Avenue Subway Line Right?!:-)
No. It was a special train ran for the event. The train is going to be on the A from now on.
@AlgonquinRider810 Okay Then Any Other Updates Regarding The R211 Subway Cars Updates Please Thank You Very Much And You?!:-\
It would of been dope if the bullet was able to have a 4 leaf clover on it that’s would of been 🔥
Those trains must run along Broadway like to 2nd Ave 🙏🏽🥲
First time running on second avenue subway.
Umm the r211a prototype set did testing on sas
@@alexthemtaandr211weatherfa2 that's not a prototype, just regular
more cars came in the works, i bet now they are retiring the R46s in the A/C lines
I think retirement is very soon!
Probably 2028 The R46S retires.
@@leecornwell5632no at all the construction of sets of 10 cars can only take 1 and a half months, and knowing that there are several manufacturing plants, whether at Kawasaki for the bodywork or Alstom for the traction chain together it will come together to be able to complete the R211 park in the space of 2 years max evening 2026.
@@filly0759 copy that.
Horray 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
So how did it get to the A from grand St, did they run it all the way to Coney Island?
It ran down the N line from 23rd St to Atlantic Avenue, switched directions and ran up the D to West 4th St, and then switched directions again to run down the A to Pitkin Yard 😃
Most protected train in the city
Daum
They should’ve been given a rusty r46 with frankenstein floors so they can experience what we experience on the daily
grow up and stop watching gogosupertoe
@@lopwr1212 How ironic. You’re subscribed too. Stop looking thru my subscriptions weirdo
@@steamymemes7946 gogo super toe hate the r46
Why no black history month trains?
Y did they have to use this terrible piece of junk for this event?
What are you talking about?
The r211 is trash.
@@Singthad How?
1: It is just not innovative
2: It has lots of bugs
3: Pretty low standard for a train that was built only a few years ago when so many other older ones are just better in every way
4: Don't get me started on the gearboxes...
@@Singthad That doesn't make it completely bad or garbage, considering that the cars they are replacing are much much worse. These are pretty good cars.
