It is a wide bay with pebbles in most parts of the beach and fine sand on the river side. The waters have this beautiful greek blue color and of course are crystal clear, while in many places cold water springs into the sea from the bottom layers. On this beach it was filmed the movie Deep End.
Agios Dimitrios Gorge is an Ideal place for visiting and exploring.It is one of the most beautiful gorges of Evia with a special importance due to the wild birds and rare plants that are finding shelter here! A beautiful hiking trail starts at the village of Agios Dimitrios and crosses two amazing paths. Starting from the village, one goes down the gorge and ends at the beautiful Schinodavleia beach of Agios Dimitrios, while the other path goes up above the gorge and reaches the settlement of Kallergos. From there it goes downhill to Kallianos beach in the Aegean.
The wetland is a refuge of rare birds! Golden-eagle, petritis, eagle, hawk, vulture are some of the birds that can be found in the passage.
Kallianos beach is quite isolated, it’s perfect if you want to relax and enjoy the nature and free camping experience. The beach and its waters are sometimes exposed to winds, so you need to choose the ideal time to be there! The waters caves are magic, reflecting all shades of blue, while the beach is sandy with some large pebbles. The landscape is amazing, offering an authentic deep contact with your inner self. Dimosaris gorge with a small river forming waterfalls is ending at Kallianos beach. Riding the gorge by the river is a must! Nearby cantines are serving delicious local tastes and meat and offer fresh water and refreshing drinks! What else one could desire?
From Athens Airport you can go to the nearby port of Rafina, take the Ferry to Marmari, a small town in the island of Evia and then cross the island towards the Aegean Sea and reach this fantastic Beach.
