  • This is my hike of the Ocean to Lake Trail. 62 miles from Lake Okeechobee to Hobe Sound Beach and the Atlantic Ocean. Passing through a beautiful green space with lots of wildflowers, wildlife sightings and getting my feet wet a bit. The sand mixed with wet feet lead to some painful blisters but was able to push through and finish. Really enjoyed this hike and will be back again. This was only my second and third night of backpack camping in Florida. I hadn’t realized that until I started to get ready for this hike. I’ve hiked over 5000 miles and before this trip only one night of them was spent in Florida and that one night was the very first time I backpacked ever. Back In 2015 when I learned about the John Muir Trail a switch went off in my head and I was hooked. Got all the gear I thought I needed and to test it all out went for a 20 mile out and back in Myakka River State Park and a new hobby was acquired. I plan on many more nights in the Florida backcountry.

Awesome! Thanks for watching! It’s a very pretty trail. The area with all the air plants was my favorite.

Mikey! I really enjoyed your hike video. You almost needed hip waders for part of this trail. Did you wear the same shoes the entire hike? Glad the snakes gators and boars didn’t get you. Love you!❤

Thanks Auntie! Yeah it was pretty wet out there. I wore the same shoes but had three pairs of socks to switch out. My shoes dry pretty quick, especially when it’s 85 degrees out. The gators we’re definitely a concern. Love you, hope to see you soon!!

Thanks for sharing, this is on the to-do list for later this year.
How did you find cell service out here? Did you feel the need to take a handheld gps like an in reach ?

Thanks for watching!! The cell service out there is spotty. There our several parts of the trail where you are very close to civilization. You even walk along a highway for about a mile at one point. I don’t know that you need a gps but I usually just carry mine anyway
