very true. the only "slim" model that wasn't better than the original was the PS3 slim, because It didn't have backwards compatibility. That's at least my opinion. The "slim" versions of the PS1, PS2 and PS4 were just improvements of the original console

@@leomeiToyota I liked it a lot but then again mine had its fan fail and the broadband engine overheated and died two days after I got it, So the entire system was bricked and I couldn't return to the store I got it from or even get it replaced because no one would take it back not even Sony would allow me to send it back to them without a ridiculous shipping and handling fee.
I recently got my self a ps2 phat silver edition to my collection. It's beautiful!

PS2 slim literally solved all the problems that the fat one had, and it's a c tier? Lmao. Sure it didn't have the HDD expansion, but it's not like it was relevant anyways.
He was the only youtuber besides digital foundary called by MS to check on their new console design and pretty much from that point on he is little biased towards xbox. Check his last few video on next gen consoles you will see.

Agree with you buddy, i still got a Working PS2 Slim. I left my gaming in consoles for last two gens cause i play on PC but i will definetly get the PS5 without any doubt.
You forgot the most important part about the OG PS3 its backwards comp with just about all PS2 and PS1 disks and that is also the biggest reason the slim models should of been lower ranked they got ride of that compatibility

Ranking the PS4 so high is also wrong... only think about the fact that you need PS Plus for Online gaming, that was a real mess and the only reason i boycotted the PS4. Console Games cost already more than PC games. I was from original PS1 to PS3 mainly a "console gamer" and only played shooters on PC, but with PS4.... i stopped being a console player and was getting 100% PC Masterrace, including also pirating. Damn you cant imagine how much i enjoyed this.... SO MUCH GAMES FOR FREE, meanwhile PS4 users had to pay for their games AND extra for online playing. There were even some titles i could play online, totally for free with keygens (after i had some issues with people "stealing" my keys with keygens :/, fight fire with fire....)

It is interesting how little they talked about each console’s library of games. The PS2 is clearly S Tier as it is the greatest selling console ever and has arguably one of the best libraries of any console to ever be released.

Honestly kind of weird to me that they consistently went with C/D tier for all the slim versions. They mostly agreed that they all had improvements over the original for a cheaper price, and yet ranked them all much lower than the originals.
Yeah, I feel like this list is pretty subjective. They didn't clearly define what parameters that factor into this ranking. If it's the revolutionary aspect of the console and the excitement it brings to people, sure the list quite makes sense.
But when you consider the functional aspect of them, most of those slim versions functions just as well as the original version, but with a cheaper price and smaller form factor. Even some of the original version's shortcomings were fixed.
For me, I'd put most of them right alongside the originals. Sure it brings nothing new onto the table. But with a cheaper price and smaller size, it's a great option for a lot of people that were deterred by the pricing of the original console, potentially expanding the community and extending the lifespan of the ecosystem. I'd say that compensate a lot for the "boring" aspect.

astethics over function. The nicest consoles got bad rating (original PS3 with PS1/2 support!), meanwhile the trash of PS4 (because of PS Plus needed for online, missing PS1-3 support) are rated very high. The PS4 was even a downgrade in a very special case... BluRay player... the PS3 did a much better job. I tried to replace my aged PS3 with a cheap, used PS4, ending up with problems. Including that the PS4 dont support the Multimedia Remote from PS3 anymore, louder fannoise compared to the PS3 and missing some Audio Formats impossible to bypass as bitstream to my AVR. The PS4 was even unable to play 24p formats correct, very often ending up with a black screen, but with sound and usable Bluray interfaces, still dont know what the PS4 is doing different compared to my PS3. While the PS3 did always a great job.

I've got the HD collection on my Vita, but I tend to play the RPGs more often than not. FFX HD, Ys 8, heck I actually bought my Vita because I wanted to finish Final Fantasy 7!

The big upgrade from ps4 to ps4 slim that they glossed over was the fan noise. The ps4 slim is so quiet in comparison to the original model. Noise is such a big factor for me that I even downgraded my ps4 pro to a slim just because of the damn fan noise

Fan noise only became on issue for my friends with their OG PS4s (and Pros/Slims) when the thermal paste dried out, and/or when the console got dusty. I just swapped the paste for my friends, and even now, their launch 2013 PS4s are silent when playing Spider-Man.
@@LBSiUK I’ve tried swapping out the paste and cleaning out the consoles, and had no luck especially on my pros. Went through 2 different pros because of the frustration with the noise

Microsoft has not really released an S tier yet, maybe this will be the one. Who knows? Maybe it will flop as the OG 360. But then again, thats a 100% gaming optimized "PC" so for sure it is not gonna suck. This console war is going to be an interesting one.

I would give fat ps2 a A tier and the slim ps2 an S tier, shrinking that huge size to a very slim device where it can fit anywhere is a huge process in the early 20'S

I have had my ps3 super slim for years and it still works perfectly no broken pieces it's all about how you take care of things

Imagine spending full price at launch for an original PS3 Fat and you use it for 2 days before the fan fails and the broadband engine bricks itself due to heat and the disc drive fails with it. The store you purchased it from refuses to take it back for a refund, and to have Sony warranty the thing you have to pay almost $200 just to get a box sent to your house and to ship the system back to them to have it lost in shipping to never be seen again never got a replacement or any kind of compensation from the shipping company. I ended up getting a Wii that lasted until 2015 and still works to this day. Got an Xbox one S limited edition in 2016 and haven't had any problems with it until a few months ago when the hard drive started showing signs of failure. Also the U.S. Air Force made a super computer out of PS3 Fats but I cant say I'm a fanboy of any one system or manufacturer I like them all.
While launch PS3s are bad, they don't fail that easily. The model you got was probably faulty. My mate owns a launch fat cecha01 and it lasted for 14 and a half years. Really depends on how much you used it, how you stored it and what room temp it was in. But yes, all launch PS3s are ticking timebombs because of the RSX Graphics Processing Unit. I don't understand why Austin put the PS3 in C tier, it had everything that the PS1 and PS2 had, and with a recap and Frankenstein mod, it's the ultimate PS3 imo.

I think if the PS VIta had gone the route that Nintendo did and used standard storage devices, that alone would have probably saved it...also they could have just done away with the cellular model to start with...the Vita was $250 for the Wifi model, which was already kind of expensive. The games were more expensive than the DS games, but also they were much closer to a console quality experience than the DS...but what killed the Vita was those insane memory card prices. Using standard memory cards would have helped a lot.

Not only was the PSP Go released too soon, but on top of that a huge chunk of the PSP's library was only ever released physically.
I'd give the PlayStationTV a B-C rating once you add the whitelist mod, a sdcard adapter, and emulated PSP UI.
Matt is right about the PS2 original because it was also people's first DVD Player because those were also expensive when they first released

What about the PlayStation Classic? I know it ain't a proper console but it was extremely easy to mod. So if you had a big enough memory stick then you could get 1000+++ games instead of the 20 that came with the console.
I still got the PSP go and it fits perfectly in my hands, it is the most comfortable portable console in my opinion. If Sony came out with a new console in the same form factor I would buy it fast

Nothing do to with this video but I need your advice. I am about to get a laptop and this time I am not sure which one I should buy. My latest one was an HP but I got that wonderful Smart Hard disk error 3f0, plus the battery doesn't work anymore and it's hard in Greece to even get one. I am willing to spend 1000€ for a laptop, as long as it will run almost all apps fast over the next 5 years. Thanks and have a nice day!

Yea you're full of crap, that ps5 looks so beautiful with the blue accents courtesy of Playstation, the mix of black and white that's very consistent with the accessories, and the overall design looks great, this is coming from who is mainly a Xbox gamer, have played Xbox 360 and Xbox one s, but also psp back in the day

Dropped my PSP onto a brick floor and the screen stopped working. Then the electronic repair shop I sent it to took my money to repair it then it mysteriously went "missing" when I went to pick it up. They wouldn't give me the cost of the system or even refund me the money I gave them to fix it saying they had a sign that said not responsible for lost or stolen goods despite that sign being in the back of the shop where customers never went. I even went to the police and tried to file charges for theft but they refused. So I got screwed out of a PSP. I'm pretty sure it was the youngest guy that worked there who quit to work at a rival shop right around the time it went missing but the owner was a pos for not even TRYING to make it right outside of walking across the street to the rival shop and asking dude himself.

I’ve always loved the slim consoles and have only owned the slim versions of every console I’ve bought. I went from the PS2 Slim to the Xbox 360 slim to the PS4 Slim and now the PS5 Slim. It’s been great as the slim consoles bring with them a very refined experience coupled with the fact that they come out a few years after the base console which means by the time you buy a slim console you’ll almost certainly have a large library of games to play on it.
I completely agree with your listing. Thinking about consoles especially with 20 years in over time its hard to remember how you feel about it really compared to now...I would say 70% of your decision would be on asthetics(looks) bringing it to a C or D or F. Then 20% on the gaming library, and how it made you feel with the games of the time, Possibly jumping up a few levels from F to even C or D to a B. And if it was great on both those two fronts being a C to a A, then the last 10% would be how it impacted not just you but the world/your friends/you for having it at the time. If it wasn't really that huge then it would stay the same rating but if it was and still an A then it would jump from A to S teir knocking out all the 3 boxes in my book for a console. I feel like the OG PlayStation 2 did that for me for me more than the PSP and the PS Pro that were a really close 2nd
There is a strong visceral happiness and also sadness when I think about the PSP. I loved my PSP but I was also at my saddest time of my life when I had it 😭. But I was crazy about locoroco and Daxter.
I was born in 1984 and I never had a portable gaming system. I had 4 brothers, so you'd have to buy one for every kid or there would be fights.
I remember when I was younger you go over to your friends house it was either 360 or Wii that was it. Nobody had Ps3 until like 2010 if I can remember
