      @jaredackerman2920 Před 4 lety +5

      Joseph Mason it’s one thing to hear someone bitch, I do it all the time, but it’s another thing to actually have a legit gripe. I’m not here to be a keyboard commando and change your mind I’m simply staring my experience I had driving with my dad in the summer. Everyone think you just get in a truck and drive, easy day right? Nay.
      Log books, tandem weight, weigh scales that have different regulations in each state, being away from home for weeks on end, sitting for days on end waiting for a return load and not getting paid, the list can go on and on.
      I used to talk shit about airline pilots making us sit for hours on a plane to wait out a storm. Must be nice to sit on your ass and get paid right? Pilots are just like truckers. They sit in a tarmac and don’t get paid until the wheels leave the runway. If the delay is too long and interferes with their FAA regulated sleep schedule they don’t get paid for an entire day.
      I learned this from a Delta pilot who was quitting to take a “pay cut” to fly private charter planes. He was making almost equal if not more with private clients since he wasn’t hamstrung by company policy and FAA commercial regulations.
      In a nutshell I’ve been wrong more than I’ve been right but I learned that that stupid cliche “walk a mile in a mans shoes” is a necessity before I can judge.

But would you consider it being smart and also profitable ? as a beginner investor who solely wants to just own and not drive to join under someones authority first to take care of the dispatch for a percentage between 10-15% dryvan otr and having the insurance being cheaper as oppose to the big out pocket cost to being under my own authority and finding my own work. Just trying to see if I can truly just invest and have someone else keep the truck busy and dispatch while all I do is take care of the overhead and the driver, is this an ideal way to profit?

Detroit engines, more of so the 60series is awsome. Both of those are the least expensive, with parts and easy to get a mechanic to work on. I wont touch any truck with the new def regulations in which they cause more harm to engines in the long run. So anything under 2008 you should be good. Slip seat burns the truck. Been doing it for years. You have to have at least 2 trailers for every load to make it work. 4 loads a day means 8 trailers. 8 trailer payments, up keep and a spare or two for down time. A spare truck is also a good idea because 3 or 4 late fees a day can cost you more than a cheap spare. You figured it out, keep it up. As long as you can show your drivers and your self it's working, what is there to prove.

    I know exactly how to do this, this is what I would do for the other company I worked for and because it was local work you get 12 hours of driving. Good for you to be doing this, two major carriers, which I will not mention here, this is how they built up and have major contracts with distributors now so keep up the good work and you will get there, my suggestion though is maybe hire one person to be there when the driver comes to drop the truck off for the day to clean it up for the next driver and check out the truck for anything that might have been overlooked by the driver or I hate to say but the driver didn't care to make a report on. The Company I worked for this was the biggest issue, instead of doing my pretrip and getting ready to go it would take about an hour to clean up the mess from previous driver's so it would save you a lot to have one or two that would check the truck out thoroughly at the end of the driver's shift, yes driver's are supposed to do the post trip and pretrip but we all know this doesn't happen right most of the time.

    Good video David most drivers are thinking about capitalizing on regional and long haul freight and not realizing that you have drivers driving for you doing short haul loads.. And being able to do contract work where there is no broker involved. So to the drivers that didn't believe it was possible, it is possible but you have to also figure in what it's costing him to pay the driver and fuel that truck along with maintenance and insurance so that 2.2k a day quickly chops down his bottom line, add 20 or 30 trucks moving everyday then your bottom line increases, but without fail of obstacles along the way... I'm reading comments on this post about guys wanting to run out and buy a truck because of the $$$ amounts without any consideration of whats all involved in this business.. You must learn this business inside and out in order to survive trucking... Big numbers don't always add up to big profits in your pocket... There use to be money to be made in trucking but it's not that way anymore.. Over 800 companies have folded in the last 2 years and the little guy starting out is going to struggle the hardest to stay a float if you don't know what your doing... Thanks for the video keep educating ...

    Great if that’s working for you. But this is where I think a lot of truckers are going wrong. It’s not about the gross pay 💰 it’s more about the net pay.by the time you subtract tolls, fuel, DEF, and drivers you are left with just a little.

    Sounds good, but you need a really good drive team. Knowing when they go off duty. Then having driver 2, ready for another load. Just running 300 miles, will have time for another run. Also, it depends on how you paying them. (Which is none of my business). It doesn't seem like you want be sleeping. Making sure drivers are situated.
