      Parking? Only when in my garage
      IFTA? Pays me quarterly (plus fuel is write off)
      Plates & tolls = 100% write off (if tolls are in the lane)
      ... my savings is thicker than my wallet & I ride with pride

    I just stumbled across this video and it is very informative BUT as a current owner of a small fleet- it is VERY HARD to stay in business only grossing $225-$275 per day. For that, you might as well get a few cars and put them to drive for Uber. Taking big financial responsibility, risk, and liability is not worth that amount per day. Not to mention, what if something goes wrong with the truck? You mentioned you have a $6,000 repair bill, how long do you have to run trucks to cover that? Even something small, which generally is over $1,000 on a truck, is a big hit when it takes a full week of work to make that amount. Please dont work for cheap. And $700 on 400 miles? Thats not good. Anyway, keep up the good work, and always aim for $2.50/mi (especially now - thats easy) . Get some drivers that are willing to go OTR and get a sleeper as well - day cabs limit you to what you can do. Just my 2 cents

    • @TruckingFromScratch
      @TruckingFromScratch  Pƙed 3 lety +17

      I feel everything you’re saying. I agree $750 on 400 miles isn’t anything to write home about. My plan was to keep my truck parked while my authority aged for something else I was shooting for. I only put it to work before then bc I met a driver who wanted to work. Covering the $6k took a little over a month. I understood all the financial risks with starting a trucking business & I accepted all of them. We eventually did a lot of slip-seating day runs and put 2 sleepers OTR. Only so much info can be shared in a video though. I appreciate your input.

    Man we appreciate you bro for dropping these gems. I'm definitely into going deep into the trucking business and owning my own fleet. I don't even know how to drive a truck let alone I don't even have a cdl license yet lol but, I'm trying to soak in as much information before I am ready. Thanks!

      not if you can wait for the shipper to pay you(checks in the "mail".) Factoring Co. takes the risk/hassle out of collecting your money,,,,at a price! 3% in Davids case.
