Arghh...they zoomed in the Game Boy version on Micro Machines 2 unlike the first game. So, it comes down to either more annoying sound with the Game Gear version or the inability to differentiate cars with the Game Boy port. I'd probably just give it a tie, but it's too bad they didn't decide to zoom out both of these.

I don't know why they made that decision when they had it right on the first game. I'd probably go with the GG because of the color and mute it. On a side note, I finally played MK on the Game Boy last night and holy hell it's awful. I can't tell what's worse between that and MK3 on the Game Gear. MK2 was the sweet spot and was actually pretty awesome for 8 bit portables.

@@RetroComparisons Yeah. The MK3 8-bit portable ports are bad and very disappointing compared to the MK2 ports (especially the MK2 Game Boy port, though the GG MK2 isn't bad either, it just doesn't play quite as smoothly as the GB one). MK3 though on the GG (also GB though the GB version is slightly better...and so is the SMS version for that matter) is pretty bad, but just not quite as bad as the MK1 GB port. IMO, it's easier to adjust to the GB MK1 really sluggish gameplay and input lag than the US SNES MK1's more variable input lag (again, the later Japanese version of that is better in this regard), but it still makes for a terrible game. I'd say Mortal Kombat Advance is a maybe the worst of the portable bunch (not including MK Trilogy on the GameCom which I've never played) being a worse port of Ultimate MK3 (the hit detection is way more broken than GG MK3 even) than GB MK1 is of MK1. But, at least that moves fast...I think the sheer molasses-like speed, input lag, and terrible move timing of GB MK1 is the reason I think it deserves a spot in the worst ports list (and worst fighting game list)...maybe not at the top, but it's one that deserves to be shamed. The Game Gear port of MK1 is choppy, but is at least a playable experience. I do play GB MK1 at times still, but it takes me too long to get back into the lag-timing groove to truly enjoy it; however, it does have some excellent music (as does the GG port of MK1), which is its biggest strength. You should really take a few minutes (you might get 1 or 2 matches before going "nope") and load up MK Advance for the GBA, and see how terrible it is. It should have at least not been worse than UMK3 on Genesis or SNES and really should have been better than those...instead, it's an insult to the name Mortal Kombat.

@@shotgunl Lol oh my, I'll need to charge up my GBA and give that a shot. I'm morbidly excited to see how bad it is.

@RetroComparisons I see it's a UK exclusive. Might have to pick it up. Even tho I'm only going for a full NTSC set* minus Pete Sampras Tennis, I have the UK version lol.

Please do a comparison for star wars game on gameboy and game gear,i think it would be a good comparison (they are similar ports on both platforms)

Will do, that video should be coming out early next year. I'm going through every Game Boy vs Game Gear port alphabetically.

@@RetroComparisons Cant wait for it,ive never remarked that you go trough the titles alphabetically. What source do you use for the ports?

@@ugarit5404 I use several sources and they can at times conflict each other. I usually start with Wikipedia since it's very organized and then I double check with giantbomb, mobygames, and gamefaqs.
