    Just in time for Ghostbusters: Afterlife! We've gone over most of the Ghostbusting equipment in the original film, now it's time to cover its slimy sequel. The Gigameter was seen several times but rarely spoken of. We cover the numerous scripts that set up its use and the psychomagnetheric slime it detects. We also cover comics, cartoons, toys, and the films to establish its history and how exactly it works.

    One thing to point out with the gigameter, and it's function, is that similar to the PKE meter, the microphones on the front pulse and move whilst detecting the source of the the pyschomagnetheric spike. You can see this on the street scene as they leave Dana's, the microphones are pulsing and moving trying to determine the source of the reading. As the move to the centre of the road, the microphones stop and point forward, indicating that they're on the hot spot. At this point, the user is able to use the dome to gather a reading of the source site. You can see it performing this way again in the Art Gallery as Egon is walking around, the microphones are moving and pulsing as they've not fixed on a location yet.

  • @RoosterMontgomery
    @RoosterMontgomery Před 2 lety +8

    One thing about the PKE Meter is it has no numerical read out. Ray's reading in GB2 was done with "the audience doesn't see/know" approach. It works like a divining rod. The wings rise and fall as one gets closer or farther away from the PKE source. The Giga Meter is specifically calibrated to measure psychomagnetheric energy, which is paranormal hence the PKE's ability to detect it too. A chapter in the novelization has the GB's responding to an office executive who had unknowingly been drinking from a water cooler with mood slime in it. His angry outbursts kept causing spontaneous combustions in his office. This means that ingesting it causes psychic influences similar to when the GB's were covered in it.

    As someone who knows radiation. Especially ionizing radiation. You are basically saying its ionizing radiation. x-ray/ gamma rays. So that means this slime is highly radioactive. All the ghostbusters would have gotten sick and died from radiation within the first day or so. Dont get me started on the chemistry of a high ph and what it does on the human body. I think you need to rework your slime theory.
    Lastly humans dont put off ionizing radiation. We put off thermal radiation. IE heat.

    • @ChannelingSpirits
      @ChannelingSpirits  Před 2 lety +2

      What? Next thing you'll tell me a cyclotron of that fits on a backpack wouldn't produce a proton stream that visible which undulates and is sustained at a distance! Either Ramis/Aykroyd knew that 2.5 GeV's was a lot of energy (which they likely didn't considering one draft said an average human produced 3 GeV's) or the joke is, yes, the radioactive damage would kill them.
      As for it being highly alkaline, the 2009 video game addresses this. Black Slime is caustic and my theory is Ivo found a way to temper it to make it pink slime.
      You're more than welcome to spend hours of research, writing, recording, and editing to present your slime theory.

    • @LadyTea
      @LadyTea Před 2 lety +1

      @@ChannelingSpirits I am for suspending some disbelief. fyi a backpack cyclotron with a visible particle stream is every viable. But your channel is to scientifically explain how it works. I just saying this explaintion doesn't fit science at all. And it needs a different that at least better fits particle physics and health physics. Its more the ionizing part of the radiation that I have issues with.
