1.8 introduces a mechanic called the "hit-mis penalty", when you click outside/not in reach of the hitbox of your opponent you get a slight delay before your next hit. presumably they implemented this to shift the focus from high cps and aiming in general to purely aiming (and some clicking of course) however this mechanic is kinda bad and unfun in many ways
@@oBvr theres been quite some discussion over that because its technically an advantage over vanilla players so some big servers made it bannable. also 1.7 animations are purely visual so that shouldnt matter
This is basically where minecraft only can register a hit one per tick in the game. Since there are 20 ticks per second, there won't be a difference between clicking 20 and 50 cps during pvp. If you are clicking more than once per tick, only one will be registered, and the swinging stops. If you maintain a cool, even 15 cps, you should be able to hit fairly consistantly

Not really cause if you miss 10 swings in a second it stops your sword from swinging for a hit
Well 50cps helps, more up-to-date clicks. Nobody can click 20cps with perfect delays
you can install solar tweaks and enable the "remove hit delay" option in the patcher of solar tweaks

I would use 1.7.10 but it gives me way lower frames due to VBOs not being in the video settings

just to clarify, this bug in 1.8 happens to anyone clicking 10+ cps. The faster you click, the more likely it is to happen.

bro adviser you dont know how much i love you know, i was suffering this thing for almost 2 years now, i thought was a problem of my pc, i play on 1.8 and in lunar my hits register completely good, like i feel a god pvping in lunar server, but in minemen or other servers my sword 2/3 times STOP swinging even if im clicking 12 13 cps
in lunar i feel super good playing but in minemen it just frustrates me so much when the sword didnt swing, i stop playing minecraft because this lmao

There is an option like that in 1.7 visuals, but its purely visual and doesn't actually change anything mechanically
i remember 2-3 years ago tenebrous made a similar video like this w you but more in depth. the only reason i prefer 1.8 on mmc sometimes is bc rods are more responsive on that version and it’s better for 90ms players like me

No wonder it's always harder to hold combos because my sword just randomly stops swinging. I thought it was a ping thing cause I have 150 ms on MMC and 210 on Hypixel. Thanks adviser. Although I will still use 1.8 when on Hypixel
So, the missing hits isn’t related to cps actually, every time you miss 10 swings on an opponent you get a .5 second swing cooldown, actual clown idea hahah

I think the cps limit needs to be in the game, but not this thing where your sword stops swinging for no reason. There's three things you need to be good at pvp: consistency, aim and timing. If your sword stops swinging it's impossible to become better at the game lol
i swear i could feel the very huge difference so i just use 1.7 lunar for mineman club and 1.18 but i use 1.8 for hypixel badlion
i feel like they need to add this setting to 1.8 lunar. I hate having to go on 1.7 just to play practice because of the swing delay
they did fix it before but as adviser said it was a disadvantage to vanilla Minecraft even for hypixel so they removed or unfixed the swing delay
they used to have it fixed but had to change it back because it was seen as an advantage

Umm, I have been playing in 1.8 for literal years. And I would say I'm pretty good at pvp, so if changing to 1.7 would improve the chances of actual swings, then holy crap watch out boys.

Thanks for telling me adviser i played on 1.8 i thought it was just my mouse or something else wrong that stops my sword i tried 1.7.10 much more smother. I thought it was just me that had the problem if i didn't see the vid i would continue to play on 1.8.

Specifically, missing 10 hits will stop all hits from registering for 1 second. Anyway, I thought the bad hit reg was common knowledge :p
In short: 1.8 gives actually BIT faster rods but u wont manage to get the far hit as u do in 1.7 AND ofc the CPS cap. And you might get less FPS on 1.8, but not sure about that one.

1.8 has 3x4 pixel arms and so I use it. I don't mind getting destroyed if it means I can have my tiny lil pixel hands.

I think the reason they added the hit delay in 1.8 was so people could get somewhat 'used' to it when the more extreme 1.9 hit delay would come out, and that when 1.9 did eventually come out some heat would be removed off itself.? Clearly that didn't really work out for them but idk

hi, another thing i have noticed is on servers such as hypixel, some axes/swords do more damage than they do on 1.8. for example in solo skywars, the ecologist kit 1.8 axe does 7.5 damage. but on 1.18 it does 10 damage which is a HUGH difference.
no, it just shows it does 10 dmg in the newer versions because that's how it is in the never versions but you don't actually deal more damage than you would on 1.8 because of that

there isn't a CPS block in the game, it's the cool down before you can swing again that makes it feel like it

I was under the impression that this issue was something to do with there being after a certain amount of hits there would be a short delay for 'missing' hits

its not a mod or setting on lunar its a texture pack or shader that makes ur sword look better and swing faster and it doesnt effect pvp as i believe

1.9 plus is fun sometimes, I suggest playing pvp legacy's kit pvp first because you don't need to use a sheild.
Side note, 1.9+ pvp practice almost has no real world use (playing on a vanilla minecraft server) if you are planning on just using swords, sheilds, and axes. The meta right now is crystal pvp which I am not a fan of.

honestly tho with regards to the cps cap, i would be happy with the capping clicks as low as like 5 because i don't think clicking fast should be a thing that affects things like kb within a game.

I get that you could argue its a skill which is why im still happy with it being uncapped for things like block placement, but just as a mechanic is super easy to abuse (auto clickers or broken mice) and there are so many other things to master that will make you better in a fight

idk why but some people get lower fps on 1.7 than on 1.8
1.9 pvp is actually intense and requires a lot more thinking, but it's just slightly slower in pace. I recommend you try it once, it could be fun!
