    Liking the break down, so others can follow. Very nice watch indeed, the Millenese strap looks great. Very comfortable to wear and don’t make your wrist sweat. Thanks Mike keep safe

      I like millenese and mesh straps. I could and sometimes do put them on many watches.

    I couldn't resist seeing this watch again. I've come to the conclusion it is a Burt Reynolds - handsome and rugged, looks good in front of the camera and is very seventies! I envy you the joy of wearing it, especially knowing you gave it life.

    This was a nice complement to the assembly & oiling of the watch on your other channel. That two-piece case is quite unusual. thanks Mike.

    I love the look of this one. Achingly 70s, but that's right up my alley. I think the stainless case and the Milanese work well with that dial too. The steel cools down some of the intensity of the brown, giving it almost grey hues you'd not get in the gold case.

    You said: "Vintage World is a great place to be when you know what you're doing and Seiko is an epic place to start your vintage journey as well."
    I couldn't agree more and although I kind of poked fun in my first comment, this really is a wonderful dress watch as well. Odds are good that nobody else will be wearing one, and frankly that's why I'm so excited to be getting my feet wet in this world. It's such a civilized and eminently enjoyable hobby, intellectually and for people who enjoy working with their hands as well. It's virtually endless and quite egalitarian because it appeals to people on a budget, the more well-to-do, people who have trouble walking (which I do right now), as a conversation piece, ice-breaker, etc. How many other hobbies can really boast about that the same way? And it's still relevant today! We may be "retro" but we're not obsolete!
    I want to thank you again - just your Tools page on the website by itself can get most people started with good advice. I began a little differently - by outright purchasing a new SNKP23 Recraft (which superficially resembles this watch but runs on a 21,800BPH 7S26C) to see how much I really liked it after a few months. Well. I liked it. A lot. 😃

    Mike, I do like the crossover, especially if there is an interesting backstory to the watch, or the model.
    Good show with the Milanese band! That may be the ticket. Please consider stripping the original case, and gold plating it. The polishing appears the hardest part, but I'm certain that you have the patience!
    Thanks again for two nice videos!

      Thanks. I’d never be able to gold plate it, the gold case is so pitted for a start and I don’t know how to gold plate.
      I’m happy with it in the stainless for now.
      Thanks for watching

    Seiko's 70's essence.....

  • @francesconicoletti2547

    I like the leather. But I suspect that’s because I don’t like the millenese with this watch. It needs something chunkier. My second watch in the 70s ( the first one I bought ) was a a gold plated square seiko 5 with an oyster band and it’s so obvious that that watch copied many of its design cues from the watch here, that I just expect an oyster band with this design.

    Trying to find when my pulsar watch was made, and how much it was when new... can't find it... it cost me a fortune ;) €5,- :)

    I recently discovered a King Seiko 5246-5039 High Beat watch among much of my late Mom's collected items. It still keeps time although the date does not seem to change. Is this an issue that can be repaired and if so any idea of the cost?

    • @mywatchreviews
      @mywatchreviews  Před 10 měsíci +1

      It could possibly be repaired but might be hard if a part is broken to actually find a replacement. Cost wise I cant advise. You need a decent indipendant professional who is willing to take it on. Servicing can be £80-200. Its a shame becase King Seiko high beats are very desirable.

  • @BryanO92
    @BryanO92 Před rokem

    Well although unusual for a watch, I wonder if that was gold plated copper. The only reason I wonder if there's copper is that tell-tale green corrosion. I'm led to believe that if copper is too porous it will start corroding through even though gold is pretty inert stuff. Gold is soft, it scratches, the underlying copper corrodes and spreads. Just a guess.
