I just watched a video from Concept 2 that says not to hinge that much and your hands should move from "hat to pockets". They claim you lose force by hinging that much and straightening out your arms. I typically do it like you show but I am thinking about trying Concept 2's way to see if it makes a difference.

It is better to do it the way the guy from the other video you watched did it. You can watch professional skiiers double pole for refference

Just received and assembled mine……using it for canoe paddling dry land training……I use a modified oblique style - alternating 20 per side - with a bit less hinging…….

Great Nordic Ski training technique, but maybe have a look at another technique for the SkiErg with Jane Erbacher that works better for those that don't need to actualy real world ski but want to use this machine efficiently.

    That's a great video,
The concept 2 Ski videos show different technics when it comes to arm movement,
I am a good and efficient rower, but I suck at Ski.
Using the Concept 2 videos technics, which basically tells you to begin the stroke with 90 arm bend, didn't work for me at all,
I was plodding and my arms got hammered after 3 minutes,
When I used the technic shown in the video I noticed the difference immediately.
It's also worth mentioning that part of using your core is related to activating your back well, so you won't lose the connection and have this half bend at the end. .

Great video! Love the vibe of it being outside I also saw the concept 2 just posted a video about the ski erg and the said to pull to your pockets and it’s not as effective to pull all the way down. What are your thoughts?

Sounds like a good cue. Probably similar to not leaning back too far when rowing!

What would damper setting be for 5 foot 3 inch woman? My gym says at a 7. Seems that would be for a tall man?

The technique you show may suit your goals, but has very little with the double polling ski technique the machine is made to simulate.

Ski Erg, , after 36 years of racing triathlons, running, cycling and then all ultra racing beyond the IM distance, nothing will match the benefits personally like XC skiing in terms of aerobic capacity.. Again personal opinion and everyone is different, but using Ski Erg to supplement real Xc skiing is unmatched. Rower, bikes, are great no question but for pure aerobic conditioning at LT threshold levels and higher very quickly its ski Erg (with 100% correct form and correct hinge position). Done correctly, the entire body is fatigued from head to toe. Try a 30 minute to 1 hour time trial on each machine and then do the real comparison with the numbers.

Hello wodprep, great vídeo as usual! Please, correct the video, changing from “triceps extension” to” triceps contraction”. When the arm (elbow) extends, the muscle Triceps, contracts. Sorry to make this kind of observation here. Best whishes
