I remember where I was exactly and who I was with when I heard Exhibit C for the first time me and my friends in a car had to pull over because we couldn’t believe what we were hearing. It’s a shame he’s now one of the biggest what ifs in hip hop history now

Jay is a special artist for sure. It's sad though cause we don't measure greatness by talent alone, so he gets left out of the goat debate. Reminds me of Ronaldo Nazário.
I remember very distinctively when i heard Exhibit A on the Fight Night Round 4 soundtrack. Loved that guy's music. He had potential to become one of the GOATs if he really put the work in. By the time he released his studio debut, i couldn't have cared less and skipped that album entirely until this very day. Exhibit A and C will always continue to be in my rotation though.
The solo album was something special, wasn't a fan of the Jayz Collab myself, but his solo was great and should've come out years earlier

Jay was a surprise guest at a BadBadNotGood show in Toronto back in the day & he absolutely blew the fucking roof off the place. I’ve never felt chills like that at any show. Insane vibey performance, and he acted really caught off guard by the crowd’s effervescent reaction.

Jay Elect still my 1A or 1B favorite of all time with Charles Hamilton. Act 2 is a masterpiece that woulda been a classic if released fully finished when it should have been. I can only imagine the power of discovering classic songs like Road To Perdition and Better In Tune With The Infinite all within the same project for the very first time. I’m jealous of anybody who hasn’t heard those songs or any others that leaked over the years and get to experience Act 2 with a fresh slate

Tee is our hometown best straight from NOLA 3ward. He was always into a geek mode since he was younger, always different from his our friends. He was and still positive mind with positive action plus very genuine person. He really didn’t run the street but most of NOLA kids back in those days was very knowledgeable of street life (environment) so in my opinion this is the best overall rappers next to Rakim, 2pac, Nas, Lupe fiasco, 👈🏾 hope I spelled the name right😂. But his lyrics are deep and very interesting but he’s very underrated.

could you do a video on the Richmond Va hip hop scene? Their underground scene has been strong for a very long time with rappers and producers like Fly Anakin and the Mutant Academy Crew, Nickelus F, Ohbliv, DJ Harrison, McKinley Dixon, Lil Ugly Mane, etc

I think quality over quantity is important to jay at this point he doesn't care about fame or being a "household name" these new rappers can learn something from Jay Electronica.

Something people should think about and pay attention to is that Jay Electronica and every other artist are PEOPLE. If you listen to the words he writes and allow the music to take you on the journey with him, you’ll see exactly that. He’s on his journey. He is clearly a student of life and has had a hard life. He’s not here to just make music he’s here just like everyone else experiencing LIFE. Stop objectifying and pimping artists like that’s their sole purpose in life. Because the BEST artists are the ones who live their lives and make their art based on their life experiences.

Still one of my top 20 favorite rappers. Insane lyricism and flow. He is similar to Mos Def in my opinion both incredibly talented rappers who turned away from the music industry for personal reasons and occasionally dropping a feature.
We did eventually get act 2 which was fire. He has a ton of tracks so I'm good.

I know you really understand the music . that being said . you can't just hit the studio and make the music that jay makes . I'm sure he c0uld put something together at the drop of a hat. but to truly hit the mark that he strives for it takes Time (god time) and direct communication from creator source which again takes time .and requires periods of silence and stillnes a..k.a meditation . you cant just cook that up in the microwave .

A Jay Elec/Wayne crossover is a nightmare scenario imo. Wayne is one of the most overrated, annoying artists in the history of music, I literally would have had to do an entire edit of the album.
On the other hand, WSG curating a Jay Elec album would most likely be bananas. The way Conductor has spoken about Gunns creative understanding add further faith.

I’ve met Jay on numerous occasions and even sat and spoken with him a few times. With that being said, he records a lot, but feels as if he outgrows his music quickly and no longer connects with it. Jay will likely not drop an album officially unless someone leaks it…
