He deserves the recognition, thanks for this.
Thanks for watching!
Descendants of Cain one of the greatest projects of all time IMO
Ka's just on another level... he and billy woods are basically the pinnacle of writing in HipHop today.
Indeed! I often listen to them back to back due to their legendary word play. I would also add Killah Priest and R.A.P. Ferreira into the mix.
5000% 2 Masterful Poets Indeed!
Aesop Rock
Eyedea
@@mider-spanman5577 Mach-Hommy too
Don’t forget Earl MIKE and Mavi! The young ones that will propel rap into a different realm.
We must protect Ka's legacy at all costs
“it’s more than just nice rhyme, I’m a product of hard, so a lot of these bars took a lifetime”
Ka’s music is often likened to audiobooks, literature, epic poetry..
Peace Akhi
Ka has always been slept on. Not only a fantastic rapper and amazing writer, he also doesn’t let shit get in his way to express himself. Dude should always be mentioned in the conversation.
Arguably the greatest artist I’ve ever heard, and this is coming from a Kendrick Stan. The first time I heard Orpheus Vs The Sirens, I was completely blown away. He has one of the best discographies of all time.
Kendrick is overall better than Ka, but Ka is probably a better lyricist. And that says something because Kendrick is super versatile and can bar out and touch your soul.
Really they're both Great on each other's level
Some of my favorite Ka lines that comes to mind so far, I have yet to listen to a lot of his catalog:
”Was a young esquire in bum attire, jum supplier / Hunger made me a gun for hire” - Our Father
”This attack won’t bring my man back, the pastor right / But since he popped, now my man got the drop in the afterlife” - Our Father
”Born in the jungle, out the womb running / Better move youngin’, predators is soon coming / Aggressive measures for the ones alive / The issue is no nipple for the undersized” - Jungle
”If this ain’t meant for me, nothing is” - Nothing Is
”Mama told me, ”Be a good boy / Need you alive, please survive, you my hood joy” / Pops told me, ”Stay strapped son / You need the shotty, be a body or catch one” / Always been conflicted” - Conflicted
This guy has the best taste in hip hop. A true head.
Ka is easily one of the greatest writers in Hip Hop. Another dope video 💎
In the history of music.
@@yani2499 Agree, he's one of the greatest lyricists ever, regardless of genre. He deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Gil Scott-Heron, Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, etc. He is a true poet.
In my opinion he is the best rapper of all time lyrically, like underground and all. I'm a Griselda fan but its pretty laughable to see all those coke rappers being called the best lyricists when you get into artists like him.
Easily top 10
when days with dr yen lo dropped I was in a very dark place. When I tell you, that album felt like a therapy session I am not lying. “It’s great to hold your own weight, no kickstand. A big man could pull himself out that quicksand”
Ka is continuously No. 1 on my all time lyricists list. I sometimes catch myself understanding a bar of his 2 years after my first listen. He elevates hip hop every time he drops.
Can you give me an example of one of his dense bars?
KA has become a masterclass in writing.
I drop everything I’m doing whenever he blesses us with music.
A true gem.
For real.
🎯 me too
Listening to Ka is very rewarding. There are so many double entendres and things to decipher in his verses that I’m still catching things here and there that I’ve missed in his music.
Not only that, but something about Ka’s humility and insightful-ness makes me want to be a better man. I feel like I know him so much through his music and have learned that he’s a man with great honor and righteousness.
Praise Ka.
I honestly believe this man will go down as my favorite rapper of all time. I can't tell you anyone else I believe can use words in this way. I am truly honored to get to experience Ka's music in my life
Been my favorite for a minute but Billy Woods may be a close 2nd.
"He truly makes music to grow older to"
Well said and very true.
I appreciate you for shedding light on this prolific artist whose passion in hip hop is subtle but relentless on preserving the authenticity of his sound and message. Ka is definitely an underground legend in his own right. This is exactly what made me appreciate this music which been advanced for years with the incoming of unique creativity. This music is not for the imbecile.
Right it's The Thinking man's Hip Hop
Well documented sir, Ka is a TRUE example of that, “Everything ain’t for everybody” narrative. His music really feeds my dark ass soul and is way different from everything else out there. I wish he’d do more joints with Roc Marci (cos that’s how I discovered him in the first place), they compliment each other’s styles. Soul hip hop for real and I dig it.
"Went from crawl to run. We want all or none. Being fatherless bothered us everybody we called them son". - Ka Firehouse.
He’s one of the greatest writers I’ve ever heard
If not thee
Man I've been waiting for this one! This and Roc Marciano were the ones I've been waiting for the most. Thanks again for all your work.
Easy, Day 110 from Dr. Yen-Lo is my favourite.
Shun side 'em, young solemn
From bottom, major plummet
Craving stomach
Way I'm behaving my days is numbered
Thought me worthless but my purpose
Record the saga
Bread and evil
Couldn't thread a needle with my moral fiber
I give you life decoded, nicely quoted
No need to rest, cheated death, my dice was loaded
Rhymes schemes on thise are sick. He even keeps going as the beat starts to fade, like he just doesn't want to stop. Love it
The whole Dr Yen Lo is tragic!! 🔥🔥🔥
Day 93
His albums are beautiful. Thats the one true word that describes his albums to me.
You did an amazing job at narrating the thoughts any fan of KA has in regards to his art. Great to see him being lauded for his talent and consistency on a place like youtube as opposed to just hip-hop forums and smaller, niche platforms. You’re a gem for the underground🤝🏾
I appreciate that thank you 🙏
30 keys will probably go down as one of the best hip hop songs i’ve ever heard
The opening minute perfectly explains how I felt when I first heard KA.
Just started listening to ka and I love his ingenuity learning to make beats and I love how dark his production is its like a breathe of fresh air.
Finally! Honor killed the samurai and descendents of Cain, chef's kiss. Perfection.
The knights gambit by ka. Is a masterwork. Structurally. Lyrically. Thematically. In a class of it's own.
From the song $:
Bars of greed
I plead, how many cards you need
While fathers bleed to fill ribs of kids who hardly read
HOW TF DID HE COME UP WITH THAT
Correct and as much as I love Nas but trust...youll NEVER heard or HEAR Nas EVER say anything like that. He not that complex as KA...and that's just one bar...Ka have Millions like that
you have found the unreachable silver surfer of the endless galaxies
First time I heard him was on Orpheus vs the sirens
The narration spoke words to my soul this is how I felt when I discovered Ka
Your love and passion for Hip Hop culture and music is evident in all your videos. Your curation and presentation of this great American art form will serve as "messages in a bottle" preserving gems for future generations to discover. Thank you and much respect for your great work! Keep it up!
I appreciate that so much thank you 🙏🏻
It's about got damn time
Quelle chris !
I originally discovered his music through Jason DeMarco. I think you nailed it that his music isn't for everyone. When I heard his stuff for the first time, my immediate thought was "This guy is a fellow traveler of the hard life."
Anything on 'Metal' w/ Marcberg... if they ever drop dat.
"Nothing blessed even the bonds of friends get tested
Would u surrender if u did it but ya man's arrested.?"
Literally just stumbled upon him a few weeks ago....yet to be disappointed
One of the greatest of all time
first heard KA on Gza's pro tools album. been hooked ever since.
I used to be in the studio with Ka in the Bronx when he was down with Natural Elements
that's dope I still talk to swigga all the time
He has so many bangers but Golden Fleece is my favorite at the moment
I will always praise Ka. Incredible, incredible stuff. Id love to get a book filled with his rhymes.
Thank you so much for this video. Don’t think I would have ever discovered Ka otherwise. This man is a poet laureate of the streets.
Ka is easily my favorite rapper! Found em in 2020! Appreciate u getting me hip to the albums I haven't heard!
This man’s a monster with a pen. He and Roc Marci stay in heavy rotation at my crib
Literally just found out about Ka today.
One of my fav rappers mentioned him in an interview (RIP Sean Price)
Can’t stop listening to him now.
Phenomenal penmanship
Honor killed the samurai is a fuckin masterpiece
Stunning how much talent comes out of Brownsville, particularly. Them never ran never will cats are built differently.
Ka really is a different tier
That joint Off The Record where he used classic rap album titles to get his point across is one of the illest joints I have ever heard. It’s hard to pick a favorite bar/song from this Brownsville Titan though.
Definitely has one of the nicest pens ever!! Been listening to him for years.
Our father who art in heaven, hollows hit my man they sparked my bredren, hurting so I’m certain won’t be good today, all I ask lord is lord look away - KA
Got the hood on my back, full cobra!
Honestly, and you can call me crazy, but Ka is my favorite rapper of all time. Every bar, album, song, etc is never a miss and he’s always a great person to look up to. When I think hip hop I think Ka cause he always keeps it truer then anyone else in the game. HKTS, DOC, OVTS are just timeless classic records and some of the best in hip hop history. And yes, Languish Arts and Woeful Studies are also phenomenal records that I’d like a video for. Ka till the end 💯
Languish Arts is a Master Piece
Facts, FORGIVE ME
Been a fan of KA since Grief Pedigree. Underrated emcee
Now I've gotta go and listen to al the KA albums again :) thanks 👍 amazing video love the love for KA truly one of the greats
The greatest poet, I’ve been waiting for this video bro 😭👏🏾
Very dope. Been a Ka fan
1of the Greatest to Ever do it true poet with a Body of Work that is Sublime---------------22
I knew Natural Elements for years and never knew KA was in that group for a min, first time i heard him for Sure was on Firehouse.
Need a Ka and Conductor Williams collab. Conductor is still a full time employee with the railroad
Funny used to call my friends money I lost hundreds…..
I found Descendants of Cain kind of randomly, been a fan since and even started following other adjacent acts bc of him
KA & Hommy = Best in the scene
From the first time I heard KA I knew he was special and that I never heard anything like him
Ka is a niche artist but his main issue is that the man is too humble. Man has rappers like Mos Def, El-P, Killer Mike, Navy Blue, Earl...be fans of him and he's still think like he ain't worth the praise. I've been trying my hardest to recommend his music to react channel. We are 8 billions in the world, he could easily be a niche artist and have a lot more listeners but he's not willing to promote himself because he doesn't think people will like his music lol. It's insane, he's one of the best lyricists of all time and he should be in those convos.
Much respect!Found his music in 2012
I love this channel, It’s one of the best spots for underground hip hop on the internet.
Thank you!
I've never heard of Ka until this video. But, his story sounds very familiar.
I heard Iron Works a couple years after it came out, it was dope, then Grief Pedigree came out, best album I had heard in a long time, minimal production, it was all about the lyrics. Also, people not knowing about him, felt like a secret, like I had a little part of hip-hop just for myself.
"Hold the chrome tight, the beast on the creep, I own the night, the heat's my receipt"
Great video. Ka deserves the exposure. Born King is the first track I ever heard from him and because it impacted me so strongly to make me research his discography, it remains my favorite.
My first track was 30 Keys and it had the same effect on me
Still waiting for that Roc x Ka album haha
The artists the blew the doors open for me was Billy Woods, his label Backwoodz Studioz, and everything associated/adjacent to it.
Sensational definitely on the same weird level as Kool Keith, scaramanga should also be interesting to take a look into.
Top 5 Lyricist ever true poet Complex Simplicity Is the best way to describe his writing and skill
I never thought I'd never find a CZcams video talking about KA. He's one of my favorite rappers.
I became a fan of Ka from his track on Gza's album!! Classic track!!! Did you know that that track was produced by Roc Marciano???!!!💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
Ka, is the first music artist whose music I've actually paid for (rather than stream) in over 10 years.
I have to look this guy up. Another underrated hip hop gem people should listen to is K-Rino.
He is absolutely amazing! Shock!
Great vid. I've heard of ka but never listened to him much. I had no idea he was natural elements. But I'm definitely gonna listen to him more. It would be great to see a vid on natural elements I believe they're a hidden gem in underground hip-hop.
No downtime 💯
If you're here then no need to say anything you already know , Def you reached the pinnacle NUFFSAID
been waiting on this one, thank you!
So so dope yet again Def!!!!!
Ka is like the poetic philosophical version of Roc Marciano, also very uderrated.
Once again your video is off the chain. Great stuff, brotha!
Thank you!
Great vid! "Family Color" got one of my fave of his lyrics "Mum said be a good boy but I had no example" tears me up everytime! As always, love your work. Let's get some Boldy next!!!!!
Thank you! I definitely hope in getting to Boldy in the new year
So inspirational. Dope work.
My favorite song from this man is I love hits me in my soul got me tearing up
I've still never really delved into Ka. It feels like homework.
Dope af, thanks for the intel mang!
Another great video! I'm happy these underground artists are getting some love.
Ka is a beast 💪🏾
Great video, educational and interesting, found your channel recently and love the content. Also, Ka is so underrated.
Def back with another gem
I can't think of a better wordsmith in hip hop and I listen to pretty much everybody. Definitely deserves way more shine but I don't think he really cares.
🎯💯 ur 1,000,000 percent correct
