Dude you made this way simpler than everyone else. Ive seen guys loosening read wheel and removing belt and pulling shaft out yada yada. Thisnis wayyyyyyy better. Thanks man.
Works well if just replacing those bushings but if replacing the bearings or shaft you need to do all that. Good luck.
I've been getting a lot of bad info on this topic. I've noticed a intermittent squeak and a low speed vibration from the back. It wasent there a month ago. So I'm figuring probably swing arm bushings. Bikes got 51k on it. Looks easy enough and I do have an impact. Your video was excellent. Don't change a thing.
Maybe take it all apart and check the internal parts/bushings too. Thanks for commenting. Ride safe.

SF Marine. Once again your videos have helped a lot. My 07 RKC at almost 90k (all me) so I did the front mount and stabilizer already. Got everything on rear disassembled but nice just to see how it went for you! I’m also going to try to install Alloy Art rear stabilizer which is supposed to help the rear assembly, basically reinforced nut that holds the pivot shaft steady. Thanks sir, SF from Massachusetts!

The Death Wobble actually starts in the rear swing arm and then transfers up the frame to the front end. There are alot of different things that cause this. Under inflated tires, mis-alignment of the tire in the swing arm. bent rim and the list goes on and on. Replacing the rear swing arm bushings is always a good idea and now they have the bushing insets that go inside the bushing. That really stiffens up the rear swing arm. Also the progressive linkage does wonders...It ties the rear transmission housing to the swing arm bushing plate...its a must have...

unfortunately progressive link is only available for 2012 below. they don't make them for recent models. so i just purchased the "Missing link" from Rack & Pull industries for front frame stabilizer and the alloy art swing arm bushing insert to stiffen the rear. am a bit sceptical if install both parts is gonna be OK or having one with the other is going to cause an issue!!

FYI- I just replaced the isolators on my 2003 FLHT without removing the pivot shaft. I placed a scissor jack under the transmission for support before doing anything. I decided to try the double nutting suggestion. First I removed both outer isolator brackets. Then I removed the right side isolator. With the isolator removed, I was able to put the nut back on and run it all the way in and followed that with the second nut. Since the isolator is removed, I was to get a wrench between the frame and swingarm to hold the inside nut and hold the outer nut with a wrench on the outside of the frame and tighten them. I was then able to hold the wrench on the inside nut, while using an 1/2 impact on the left side. It came off like butter. Absolutely no need to remove pivot shaft for changing isolators.

Thanks for the video, currently tackling this trying to trace a highway wobble on my 02 flht. Unfortunately I can’t get bottom bolt out on the right side the same way you did so looks like I’m pulling the exhaust off the head and it’s rusty…
Check swing arm bearings. They could be worn causing that. It doesn’t take much wear on those to cause an issue. Good luck.

45 ft lbs or 61 nm for the spindle shaft nuts
Hey great video. I was wondering what torque specs you used. Also did you need to get an alignment after?
I think the nuts call for 35-40 ft lbs. If your going to attempt any repairs on your bike I highly recommend a person buy themselves a repair manual. Alignment of the rear tire etc was not needed after I completed this repair. It went back together nicely.

Not sure. Never did those.
@@TechnMoto It won’t work that way on a Sportster, I just checked mine. It has a bolt head on each side so that you have to remove the shaft. They should have made it like the one you did in the video across every model. A lot easier.

For help do a google search for your motorcycle, join a harley forum and ask that question or purchase a manual for your motorcycle. I'm not sure for that year.
When I went to knock the assembled shaft out through the left side the rubber hits the frame. What's up with that?

dont you need to grease the shaft?
No I did not remove the shaft nor does the shaft move. It is stationary. The swing arm bearings do all the movement.

Not sure if you'll see this question, but what did you feel while the bad bushings were on the bike? What were the symptoms of this issue?
Honestly nothing. They were dry cracking and on the way out. I figured I would replace them since they were original to the bike. If they are really bad you could feel vibration or movement in the rear while going down the road or turning. Could even cause a wobble/weave if bad enough. If there is play in the rear end then I would recommend replacing bushings and bearings in the swing arm at the same time. Hope this helps.
feels loose in the rear end, hard to explain, but almost like you have a flat tire, just a little loose in the turns.

Can I ask a question? I have a 2002 heritage softail. Sometimes I go around the corner in the ass and slides just a little bit is it supposed to do that? Is that why they call it a swing arm or no are the bushings bad thank you.

Never put the stock style bushings back. You should, put in the "Stiffy" inserts or replace with Glide pro.. The stock mounts will leave a danger of loose rear swingarm wobble, no difference with new or old mounts. To check for this condition, have the bike on the jiffy stand, cold engine and exhaust, place your foot on the rear tire, from the right SIDE of the bike, near the front face of the tire, you will be able to move the whole wheel, as much as a half inch, or more, even if the rear isolators are new..The cause of the Harley wobble, Do a web search for, Glide Pro System or Mad Monkey Motorsports, also The Stiffy for Harley isolators.. Dont leave yourself on a dangerous stock Harley swingarm......
