WPG fleeced LA in that trade. If it had just been PLD for Vilardi we could have a discussion, but as things stand (especially with that extension) LA really poopied the bed.
The worst thing is that it was so obviously a bad trade too, clear before PLD had even played a game for the Kings.

PLDiva is just a selfish, entitled twat. as a habs fan, he was rumored to my team for the last 2 years solid. thank all that is holy that kent hughes saw what i did and stayed the fuck away. when we traded for dach at the 2022 draft, he was there, and he sat and pouted like a bitch. he quit on the blue jackets, he quit on the jets, and he's probably going to quit on the kings soon if he isn't already doing it. with his effort level it's hard to tell. this is the kind of p layer you never give a long term contract to. and the kings are praying they can get a compliance buyout soon, or that PLDiva somehow voids his contract.
yes, dubois is the most toxic player in the league and has been for some time. he has the body of a man, but he still needs his diaper changed regularly. he has the worst contract in the league, and nobody will take him on now, unless they're monumentally stupid. better LA than us.

The easiest way to tell a toxic player and one who's liked by their team is by their celly after a goal. PLD skates away from his teammates and cellys alone, a player who is respected by his team is mobbed in a group hug. PLD rarely ever does the high five bench pass too.

What's most frustrating to me is I saw Dubois as a toxin years ago yet teams still rewarded him and pursued him. The Kings definitely reap what they sow here, by their time Dubois' mindset should have been very apparent.
handing these almost-decade long contracts worth tens of millions to flaky fairweather players is such incredibly negligent mismanagement that you have got to wonder what kind of clowns occupy those NHL team front offices. most industries that's a company-goes-bankrupt level of decision making

@@beerdoIt was more than just me that saw Dubois as toxic. It was widely reported in sports media as well. I'm not GM - but I appear to have a better scouting report on Dubois than LA did.
I remember watching him play for Cape Breton before and after he was drafted by Columbus. After he was drafted there was a noticeable lack of effort and care in his game, this lead to him being benched for the entire third period and then immediately traded.

As always well done Alyssa. There is no doubt, this guy is a toxic player. You saw it in Columbus, you saw it in Winnipeg, and now the LA Kings are seeing it. It's funny, you see the success the Jets are having this season and how the Kings are struggling and Dubois, has been not that good this year and signed a huge 8 year contract after getting traded there last year.

Who will take him with 7 years left at 8.5 mil.nobody will want a guy who does not like hockey but good enough to get a contract. Only team taking him is to get to spend more for minimum cap and it’s going to cost you 2 first or a first a real good young guy
Out of that top 4 draft Mathews , Laine , PLD , Puljujarvi. PLD has been the worst yes both Laine and Puljujarvi had struggles but you never saw a give up mentality but you sure saw it with PLD he hated Torts skated around acting like a baby. No respect.
You can’t say PLD is worse than Puljujarvi. Puljujarvi is hot garbage and doesn’t even belong in the NHL
@@gustavjohansson903 Puls is a mystery, the guy has all the tools to be effective in the NHL, yet somehow he isn't. Some say it was his terrible English when he came over, some say lack of self-confidence, whatever it was it is hard to pinpoint the reason why some (top) prospects succeed and some don't.
Such a shame too. Been a little off the hockey scene since the 2018 season or so. Hopped back on in 2020 and been watching the Kings since, my favorite team. Now that this shit is happening it’s becoming harder to watch them. Was absolutely pissed losing to Edmonton twice and seeing Quickie traded (tho I did think he needed new scenery) but man this one hurt the most. Vilardi is great sure. But Iafallo was just the MAN. Such a good support piece. Wish they kept him. Instead they sold the barn for a chicken. Blake needs to go yesterday. What an absolute joker.
I'm using the Kings in Franchise Mode on NHL 23. He fucking irks me there too. Always complaining about his role on the team and that he's losing morale and trust in management. It's a little too real!!!

As a Kings fan I'm ok with Doughty or maybe Kopitar as well mentioning him by name, screw that nice PC crap. He has set this team back to salary cap hell and a rebuilding that was almost complete. The way Valardi and Iafallo played last year. The remaining 2 pieces were a true #1 goalie and getting past Edmonton. No easy task I get it but winning the Stanley Cup is really hard, right. The biggest problem is I don't hear anyone mention an out of this contract. Hopefully we have a really hot summer and his northern butt can't handle it and he asks out. What a CHUMP!

Selfishness does not work in team sports. The Dubois trade was the best thing that could have happened for the Jets. The return was gold. All three guys the Jets recieved have great personalities and play for the team. Honostly, just getting rid of Dubois was a win. He is a frustrating guy to have playing for the team you cheer for. I couldn't imagine having to be his teammate.
When he got traded to L.A. I just laughed. They gave up decent players and good character guys for that crybaby

I was praying for the Habs to not make a deal to acquire him. Imagine trading some of your best young players for a local french Canadian who does not give a f. The Habs would have screwed their rebuild if they did acquire him instead of the Kings. Thank you Kings for your sacrifice.

Bringing this guy in cost Todd his job. It will also cost Blake his position and will hamper Jim Hillers career as an NHL head coach. I havent been this disappointed in a Kings team in a long time.
The "L" in PLD stands for "Lackadaisical." He will be an albatross around the neck of the Kings. He'll have scoring runs here and there but no consistency. He doesn't have the fire.
I said this the day they got him, "Why would they do this?" He's never even been good -he's better known as a hated player both on, and off the ice. Fans need to start realizing just how important each player's role is INSIDE the LOCKER. Any player who played any higher level can attest to this.

The Jets got the best out of Laine (44 goals in 2017/18) then traded him for Dubois and subsequesntly got the best out of him (career year in 2022/23 - 63 pts). The jury is still out on Vlardi in Wpg but what I have seen so far is promising.

When the Blue Jackets drafted him 3rd overall in 2016 it caught the Canucks off guard. He was the guy they wanted to draft. They didn't expect the Blue Jackets to take him. They panicked. jumped to plan B and took Olli Juolevi.

Tbh Juolevi was rated by many scouts as the top Dman (check out the scouting report on Elite Prospects, you would want to draft him yourself), he looked very good at the U20, captain of the team, etc. Turned out very much like when the Bruins drafted Zboril.

They ignored his record of inconsistency. Like Matt Duchene he can contribute offensively..but not every shift every game. Teammates haven’t disliked him..he was fine in CBJ and Winnipeg locker rooms.
