    I really like how there are enough subclasses coming that you could have "themed" adventuring parties but still have separate classes. For example, an entirely religious party, a party from the Feywild, etc.

      I get that. I'm just worried the classes get watered down so there is no class individuality. Wanna heal? Pick any class.

    • @PaladinsFury
      @PaladinsFury Před 6 lety +2

      True, but if someone takes what most consider a "healing" class and doesn't want to heal (say a death cleric) then having that flexibility might be helpful

    • @Abelhawk
      @Abelhawk Před 6 lety +4

      Yeah! I think it'll be fun to have a lot of different ways to heal, a lot of different ways to deal damage, cast spells, etc. I think they'll do a pretty good job of balancing them.

      The beauty about roleplaying--especially in dnd--is that you could have two people who are both playing the same class, e.g. two fighters, but with the variety in subclasses they could be totally different. Yeah it blurs the lines between the core classes but it's a very fresh take on the subclasses that make them more interesting.

    I like that the Divine Soul can easily be just an accident or some sort of miracle instead of being under oath or under the control of a deity.
    I always love characters who haven't chosen their power and just deal with what they got.
    I thought up a background for a Divine Soul for a game I'm playing. Our group has no healer and it would be a super cool addition.
    The story for that Divine Sould would go something like this: Her powers came from seemingly nowhere. They awakened during child labour. It killed the nurse and blinded her helper. The Divine Soul simply ran away, leaving behind the baby out of fear that it was the source of the problem. She then travels far from home while realizing her potential and she decides to not come back, to avoid the repercutions of the events.

    I like this new direction for Favored Soul. My issue with the class before was that it felt more like it revolved around a mechanic rather than a role playing concept. The very name itself screamed special snowflake. But with Divine Soul, you can still be a special snowflake or your origin can be as simple as "My dad was a unicorn. We dont talk about it."

    An aasimar who is the chosen of Mystra, and through their mastery of magic can ascend into celestial-hood...
    A changeling who inherited their shapeshifting through their ties to Selune, known for her championing of benevolent shapechangers...
    A half-drow, born between a drow father and silver dragon mother, prevented from embracing their draconic lineage by the lingering influence of Lolth...
    A tiefling striving to transcend their Infernal ties to an Archdevil, like Asmodeus or Dispater, and embraces a heroic path while fending off their fiendish influence...

    I can see as an Divine Soul Sorcerer NPC being a very intriguing focal point of an adventure the band of adventures are setting out on.
    A secluded village shrouded in the thick, flourishing woods of the northern regions. The players happen upon this village as they venture after a lead and discover this community in an almost unspoken turmoil. Individuals are shuffling about refusing to speak to the strangers, everyone is averting their gaze, and all keeping a healthy distance from a specific house. Within this house, a young child lives with their family, however holding peculiar abilities that the village finds otherworldly and of evil magics.
    There could also be a plot twist with an NPC who was believed to be a D.S Sorcerer of Holy origins but end up being that of the lesser, evil entities.

      most edge lords act so because they think that its cool and that's it. Give your character a detailed enough backstory and personality that they seem more realistic and understandable. Don't forget to add details that show that the character lives on the same ground as the other characters. It also helps if you get help from the DM on how your ancestry may tie into the adventure.

    Iv been playing a divine soul for over a year now out of my parties need for a Healer I find it interesting but my character is ignorant of the origin of his ability to cast spells that were previously assumed to be the realm of divine casters he is very curious about it. Personally I find the sorcerer has less flexibility then the warlock in general as warlocks have a wider array of eldritch invocations vs sorcerers have metamagic. As well as the ability to change one out at each level allowing them to be more flexible. Though having access to a whole new spell list did make a much needed change

      It's an "article" with proper link to these videos and we do it in our good tradition in which we've (well, we... mostly ShadoWWW) translated all (well, most) Lore&Legend blogs, some Unearthed Arcana blogs and hell - all three DnD 5e core books (PHB, DMG, MM. About a year after these were published, quite possibly first complete translations ever). It's posted on our 100% nonprofit website (no payments, no advertisement, no donations)
      Why not upload translated subtitles? 2 reasons: 1th doesn't seem to be worth the additional work (on top of translation itself, subtitles requires more edits and polishing, also breaks, timing...) 2nd: although our work is completely non-profit, we like to promote it and kinda think we deserve at least that :)

      aside of how it really is as I explained above: personally I have no problems with re-uploads when these are properly credited. Many times I found re-uploads useful when original videos got lost for whatever reasons.
      I do acknowledge that here on YT it gets more complicated due to author's profit from commercials and Red Users (or however it is called) views, but in general terms I do not condemn re-uploads as such. (To be clear: I've never re-uploaded anything, I do not really do videos - I've made CZ subtitles for Dark Dungeons and Strange and Norrel, but that's pretty much all I had ever to do with anything video-related)

      Sorcerers cannot switch out their prepared spell list on a long rest. The only time they can change any spells is when they level up which lets them switch one spell in addition to getting one more. Since the best thing they can do is possibly out-heal a non-life cleric (and that's ignoring the tons of support and utility clerics give), I think I'd still rather have a cleric in my own party.

    • @Kinowolf
      @Kinowolf Před 6 lety

      It's an interesting contrast. But clerics have more versatile spell selection, better health, and often more proficiencies, which kind of plays up the idea that they are better educated and trained despite having less raw aptitude.

    • @gyorgyor7765
      @gyorgyor7765 Před 6 lety

      Kinowolf they also get Channel Divinity and the ability to ask their God for miracles.
      On the other hand Divine Souls are more flexible with the spells they do know, get an extra Metamagic, and can cast spells more often thanks to sorcery points. They also can select from both the Sorceror and Cleric spell lists, which includes Wish. They will likely get a few other advantages, but I don't know what.

      Grey I feel like it wouldn't be that hard to do a pacifist Sorcerer build, plus sorcerers already spec high into charisma anyways.
      Think specing into Wis then Cha then Con. Take Folk Hero background and Protector Aasimar, Divine Soul Sorcerer, train in Insight and Religion, Take Water Walk at level 5 and I feel like itd be a pretty good fit

    So being the child of a god doesnt make you a demigod anymore? What about race? Are you aasimar as well, or is that just lower celestials? What about lower plane gods that have teiflings?
