From personal fouls to traveling and double dribbles, these rules are so familiar that they've become a part of our subconscious mind as we watch NBA games.

A weird rule that I did not know existed until 2 years ago is at the end of a half or game if you try and shoot a full court shot and the ball goes into the crowd on the fly, meaning it did not bounce, the player is to be immediately ejected. This happened to Andre Iguodala 2 years ago at the end of the first half and eceryone was confused not knowing the rule

If you are wondering about that Rockets game, especially bc like he said smashing a basket is so rare now, I was there, they were bringing out a new basket because the original rim was slightly tilted on the side so it wasn't parallel to the floor, they noticed a little less than a minute into the game, and it caused a 35 minute delay.

Theres nothing like seeing the glass break at a NBA game, shame it doesnt happen anymore.
Another rule: If a player is making a shooting motion and another is going for the block, the shooter can kick the blocking player in the balls without any consequence.

I already knew about the 10 sec. rule for free throws.
The blazers also did a play with 6 players on the floor vs the Celtics in 2009....and they counted the basket but asset the blazers with a technical foul

I've often (always?) noticed that the bench and coaching staff will start the 1st half with their team playing offense in front of them.
BUT... I never knew this was an actually option for the visiting team, and they could choose to start the 1st half on the opposite basket (though they rarely do).
In elementary, middle, high school, and oftentimes college basketball, it's the opposite.

Always wonder about the rule of a player staying in the game with 6 fouls. What if that player or any other player on his team commits a flagrant 2 foul or anything else that would normally cost a player to be ejected..would they ejected them or let them stay and if they do eject, does that mean the team has to forfeit?
