I am so pleased to have stopped for a coffee and find this vid, that popped up at random last night. I was going to just use force to pop the rear pannel off!!!!!
Who would have thought it slides sideways! 😮

OH SHIT!....I've been rackin' my brain tryna figure out how to fix that damage wing. I knew it was a wing but I thought it was molded on. THANK YOU!!!!

Just so you know, the piece of plastic at 4:17 can be removed and then put back (no need to break it off). You just have to turn it counter clockwise by 45 degrees to remove it.

Thank you very much for this video.😃👍 I didn't know there is a trunk lid cover.

The trunk lid in my 01 S60 cracks with any moderate amount of pressure, such as closing the trunk 😂 I put a subwoofer in like you, and decided to spray great stuff in-between the lid and liner. It worked great for rattles but as it continued to expand, it made a bunch more cracks in the already delicate old trunk lid. Thinking about hitting a junk yard for replacement ... Thanks for the vid!

Thanks for the video! For everyone else, if you try this and a few of the plastic pegs crack because of how old they are, Toyota molding retainers are cheaper and easier to find. The ones I got were dorman brand with part number 963-510D and they seemed to work fine.

That piece of plastic was the center peg to keep the skin from sliding to unlock...
    No biggie....
    Thanks for the Vid....
It was either CZcams IT, OR GOTO A BONEYARD AND DESTROY ONE THERE TO FIGURE OUT HOW IT 'SHOULD' PROPERLY COME APART....

alittle different than I rip them off in the salvage yard but it works too....im installing a G35 (sweet brake light) wing on my s60 so I need to drill that plastic cover and them black pegs are hard to pop off with out breaking them.

Those clips don't really come out, but if you plan on taking one off and reinstalling it then ripping it off might not be the best idea.
The wing sounds sick, I've been considering one as well, probably a nice duck tail molded to that plastic piece.

  • @charleskellymoneytipspodca9121

Very useful. The clips holding my boot/trunk lid cover have broken and it's loose. Can I get the clips to repair Not sure what they are called.

Hey @Octane Overdrive. I know this is a long shot, but maybe you could show a video or a picture where you put the dampening material on the trunk lid and if it worked for you? Thank you, in advance!

How did you do the sound dampening on it? Mine rattles like crazy with two 12's in the back...

    • @BrandonBrownOctaneOverdrive
      @BrandonBrownOctaneOverdrive  Před 4 lety +1

Check out your local sound shop and buy a couple sheets of hush mat from them. They will know what you're talking about. Then use this video to get the truck apart. After that it's just like putting a sticker on, and putting the trunk back together. The rear speaker deck rattles quite a bit too which can be solved with the same product. Best of luck!
