Reposting a comment I made regarding this. I think that "Stop enjoying destroying things" (and the variants of it in Spanish, Portuguese, etc.) is a much better fit for Goku. Goku isn't supposed to be a Superman-type character. He's a country bumpkin who cares about fighting and getting stronger before anything. Hell, in the Japanese version of Dragon Ball, that's the reason he spared Vegeta - a desire to fight him again, which he even recognized as selfish but still wanted to pursue anyway, not out of "mercy" like in the original English dub. He didn't find Beerus' job of destroying things inherently bad. He had an issue with the fact that he *enjoyed* the act of destruction. He's an intrinsically selfish hero - although he does have morals and cares about protecting others, he doesn't prioritize others. He prioritizes himself. Toriyama even said that he hated how the English dub portrayed Goku, because it was completely antithetical to how he had written Goku, that being a hero with *flaws* and *negative qualities.* This statement was supposed to be serious in a completely different way. It showed a contrast between Beerus and Goku, and set the stage for Beerus coming around to actually enjoy Goku's company. Beerus enjoyed destruction and felt superior to others, while Goku enjoyed fighting and having an equal opponent. In the end, Goku realized that destruction was a necessary part of life, being able to understand Beerus' motivations, while Beerus was able to understand Goku's motivation and his desire to fight others and improve himself constantly, even complimenting him on his power, something he'd never done before. The English translation lost that, in my opinion. This doesn't mean I think the Japanese voice acting is better, by the way. In this case, Sean Schemmel did a much better job with portraying the emotion of the scene. I just think that 'Stop enjoying destroying things' is a better fit for who Goku is supposed to be.

As a Dragon Ball fan, I sometimes forget how world wide this fandom stretches. That said, I’m happy to hear that there are so many amazing Goku voices out there. The main Saiyan deserves all the awesome voices he can get world wide. That said, I’m gonna have to say that Sean Schemmel NAILED this scene in the English version… but I also think Mario Castañeda did a pretty admirable job too in the Latin American Spanish dub. I’m legit considering, as a Mexican American learning how to speak Spanish, rewatching DBZ in Spanish. (Not that I need an excuse to rewatch DBZ. To be fair u can tell that the English voice is modified a bit, there’s echo effects & over amplifications being done. Not saying Sean doesn’t put in the work, just that the other voice actors don’t have that modification applied
A nossa do Brasil não foi ruim Andel Bezerra é simplesmente incrível mas ainda sim sinto que falta aquela emoção nas horas de gritar coisa que a dublagem americana consegue passar com tanta força
As much as I am fond with Wendel Bezerra's (Brazilian's VA for Goku) work throughout his whole career and, obviously, being part of my childhood watching Dragon Ball with my dad, I can't help but be mesmerised by Sean's performance with the scream and dedication on the emotion. I really wish Wendel had that capacity, he's a remarkable VA, a legendary one; but the "I'M NOT LETTING YOU DESTROY MY WORLD" hits so much harder than "ENOUGH! OF SO MUCH DESTRUCTION" when you have the performance of Sean. Kudos to both though.
There’s a reason why sean schemmel is better than every other Goku voice actor. They only pretend to be Goku. But Sean schemmel doesn’t pretend; he IS Goku
As much as we give Funimation shit for trying to "Supermanize" Goku, the english dub's line really makes the most sense in this context. He's fighting Beerus to keep him from destroying the planet, he wouldn't have accepted everyones help and became a Super Saiyan God otherwise.
• Random curiosity time The portuguese Goku can be translated literally to: "Enough of so much destruction!" Wich i don't know if is a correct sentence ( i'm a non english speaker ) so i will clarify that he is technically saying: "That's enough! I won't tolerate all of that destruction!"
Every person with a brain can agree that dragon ball dub in general is far superior compared to the sub. I to this day still can't grasp how people can manage to actually watch and even enjoy the sub, when all they hear is the absolute trash voice that does not fit at all for goku. Not to mention the weak screams make the scenes way less impactful and exciting. How people can put up with that is beyond me.
@@--InsertNameHere-- close minded af, what so hard to comprehend dub and sub are both good. masako is legendary in japan and loads of people that use to hate the sub (usually for not not giving it a chance) have tended to really like the sub and prefer it to the dub. the creator of dragon ball literally chose her voice for goku…….

That’d be a very interesting watch. Another fun idea would be to have the subtitles match the dub script for the Japanese version. You’re hearing Japanese, but the English subtitles match perfectly with the lip movements. I tried that at one point for another anime (Hunter x Hunter), and it was so surreal.
The English version was way more better than the other languages because it feel like Sean puts more effort in the scene than the rest of the languages.
Wendel Bezerra é foda, mas eu preferi o Sean Schemmel pra essa cena específica. Minha parte favorita é o Goku (Sean Schemmel) gritando enquanto atravessa a camada rochosa do chão pra chegar até a superfície
My opinion: Brazilian Portuguese is the best for me. I'm Brazilian so I'm suspicious of saying this, but for me this scene gives me goosebumps only in my language, considering I understand English, Español and a little bit of Italian and Japanese.

To be fair u can tell that the English voice is modified a bit, there’s echo effects & over amplifications being done. Not saying Sean doesn’t put in the work, just that the other voice actors don’t have that modification applied

El doblaje ingles con Sean Schemmel es verdaderamene increible
There’s a reason why sean schemmel is better than every other Goku voice actor. They only pretend to be Goku. But Sean schemmel doesn’t pretend; he IS Goku
they not putting as much effort as english it just don’t make u feel hyped like english one does
As much as we give Funimation shit for trying to "Supermanize" Goku, the english dub's line really makes the most sense in this context. He's fighting Beerus to keep him from destroying the planet, he wouldn't have accepted everyones help and became a Super Saiyan God otherwise.
AAAAAAAAAAHHHHH IWONTLETYOUDESTROY MY WOOOOOOOORRRRLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDD

The portuguese Goku can be translated literally to:
"Enough of so much destruction!" Wich i don't know if is a correct sentence ( i'm a non english speaker ) so i will clarify that he is technically saying:
"That's enough! I won't tolerate all of that destruction!"
The italian one got me 😂😂😂
DB is great in English
Legit the english was the only one that synced in and sounded exactly how it should like in that situation.
For once I think all fans can agree the dub was better than sub
Every person with a brain can agree that dragon ball dub in general is far superior compared to the sub. I to this day still can't grasp how people can manage to actually watch and even enjoy the sub, when all they hear is the absolute trash voice that does not fit at all for goku. Not to mention the weak screams make the scenes way less impactful and exciting. How people can put up with that is beyond me.
@@--InsertNameHere-- close minded af, what so hard to comprehend dub and sub are both good. masako is legendary in japan and loads of people that use to hate the sub (usually for not not giving it a chance) have tended to really like the sub and prefer it to the dub.
the creator of dragon ball literally chose her voice for goku…….
english is just perfect, it's so intense and i love that. por cierto soy de sur america
Goku the rap god coming in with the bars, “IM NOT GONNA LET YOU DESTROY MY WORLD!”
I'm a big sub guy but I gotta admit the emotions in Sean's delivery give me fucking chills.
Sub gave me chills English gave me goosebumps
Brazillian portuguese literally changes the sentence completely lol
Listening my whole life in English dub I almost slipped off at the treadmill listening to the Brazilian dub
Nothing happened to me, but I got a similar feeling😂
It doesn't matter which one is better
If you can understand the language and feel nostalgia than its ok
I have never seen a better voice actor for a character like sean
definetly english aka sean schemmel which is the best voice actor dub and screamer
I can understand Japanese not doing the screaming while flying cause shes like 80 and I would feel bad for her voice box but everyone else feels like didnt even try. Sean Schemmel killed it with this scene.
“Dont enjoy destruction”
It has the energy of telling your kid to stop doing bad things
that gives me chills the engllih one gives me goosebumps
English dub is just too fucking good it does what no other dubs do...they go beyond and thats why they are at the top of the dubbing world. I Love sean❤
Let’s all agree goku English actor deserves the most social credit and gave me goosebumps…Italian got me cracking up over here. Anyways LIKE FOR SEAN MANS A GOAT
そもそも翻訳が全然違うの面白いな
吹き替え版だと悟空の人物像とか喋り方ってちゃんと反映されているのだろうか
Why do none of the other languages scream more when his blasting through the rocks? Dub is goated
Ppl specifically haters don't notice that good of voice acting
They weren't supposed to or simply didn't want to. but Sean went the extra mile.
All of them are good but Sean just shat his lungs out I mean come on.
That's quality.
If we could just combine the japanese dub and just insert Sean into it, we'd have the perfect DB version.
Yea
That’d be a very interesting watch. Another fun idea would be to have the subtitles match the dub script for the Japanese version. You’re hearing Japanese, but the English subtitles match perfectly with the lip movements. I tried that at one point for another anime (Hunter x Hunter), and it was so surreal.
I am a huge Latin American dub stan, but English takes the gold here 🏆
The English version was way more better than the other languages because it feel like Sean puts more effort in the scene than the rest of the languages.
Portuguese and English were the best for me 👏🏼
It's absolutely incredible how hard Sean Schemmel clears all of the rest
OMFG the eng dub is just god-like
English carries man
imagine the german dub but with the power of the english scream
I'm Brazilian but English in my opinion is the best
English dub "I will not let you destroy my world"
Japanese "don't enjoy destruction" XD
Dub legit takes the dub
One of the very few times I actually enjoy dub over sub. The voice acting is just so fucking IMMACULATE.
Em inglês da até arrepios nem tem como comparar, Em português chega a dar uma arrepiada legal também épico demais, Wendel Bezerra é o melhor
Wendel Bezerra é foda, mas eu preferi o Sean Schemmel pra essa cena específica. Minha parte favorita é o Goku (Sean Schemmel) gritando enquanto atravessa a camada rochosa do chão pra chegar até a superfície
you have to put more growl into it. Everyone is just saying “auh aaaa” but you have to strain it like English like “augh” and not “auh”
To be honest, English, Portuguese, Spanish and German took it to the next level
German is shit dude
Hmm, why? I wouldn't say so
@@SombraSR it dosent have a lot of effort this time at least since ive seen some good german screams
Japanese was better than portageese
My opinion: Brazilian Portuguese is the best for me.
I'm Brazilian so I'm suspicious of saying this, but for me this scene gives me goosebumps only in my language, considering I understand English, Español and a little bit of Italian and Japanese.
