People don't realize, the hardest part of War Thunder, is waiting and chopping out the 95% of the footage that's either boring, or downright unfair.
i streamed war thunder to my friend on discord who i wanted to get into the game. showed him some top tier replays where i did really well. i then played 4 games and got 1 shot back to back to back and ended up making him completely disinterested in the process. it depressed me.
@@kkadz to be fair, WT can be and often is a bit depressing. Once the grind really sets in getting good matches is rare, I think it just makes the game really difficult to recommend. Indeed I recommend people against playing WT even if I enjoy it slightly more than I resent it.

Given that there were fighter versions of Tornado, I refuse to believe this airframe turns this slow
Germany already got them OP hightier tanks with the missing gun mantlet armore and easily penetrable upper front plate.
Those OP jets with a turn radius would be too much to handle for the point and click gameplay of the Russian tank players and high tier.
that fighter version was an interceptor for bombers, those don't need small turns.

It wasn’t a fighter version. It was an interceptor, the tornado was originally designed to be a ground striker. So I believe that this airframe is realistic.
Random internet search says the airframe is limited to 6g loads, unfortunately like in the game.

Seriously. I mean BAE says on its own website the jet can go Mach 1,3. Other sources have stated Mach 1,2 with a heavy bomb load. This thing is not better than a Phantom.

Tornado wing overload crashes are absolute BS right now. Yesterday my wing ripped when I rolled right going in a straight line, sub-sonic. It's laughable.

Yeah i live under the flight paths of RAF Marham in the UK, which until recently was the home of the RAF's Tornado's, and yes they can turn much, much faster than that lol. Where i used to work they would circle directly over head, only a few hundred meters up, and they pulled a much tighter 180 to line up for landing than what is modelled, laughably so lol.
I have watched Tornado's (aka the Tonka to us Brits) in the flesh many, many times over the years. They were surprisingly nimble things for such a big bus when flying fast and low (what it was designed to do) through the tight twisting Welsh valleys etc, the model in game is not even close to what it can do in real life. yeah it was never a dog-fighter, but it was not meant to be, but it could certainly turn quicker and tighter than whats being portrayed in game.
Irl the airframe can only take 6g. So it really cant turn all that well

@@123123boobies Hey guys it is the only aircraft in game that abides by the real G force values. Do not think about a massive WW2 dorito pulling 12g without ripping. Or practically any aircraft that can reliably pull over 10gs no matter the size, speed, or era. Only tornado wing rip is "realistic".
Jokes aside 6g is there to not the damage the airframe. Which is not a thing in WT. If they cared about airframe longevity 99% of the aircraft in the game wouldn't turn more than 6gs at low altitude.

This is one of the planes that would benefit A Lot from a Air RB EC mode with heavy focus on SEAD and stuff like that instead of focusing on dogfights like Sim Mode and the current RB mode...
Maybe I'm a crazy man shouting at the wind, but I hope to One Day, see my WT Dream come true, together with a Ground EC and a Naval EC rework to make it more action packed with more objectives.
I just stick to the ground, don’t use afterburner, flare like crazy and pray to the snail. And for turns I use manual sweep, reverse thrust and flaps. This Aircraft takes a lot of training just to be decent.

If they can't get this right you know they wouldn't get the F111 right either, if they ever do get the Tornado 'fixed' they will be all mad dash to get the Ardvark into the game too, where I guess the Brits will hopefully get a Aussie Premium version (just shame it will cost $70).

I also would love to see you try 'bomb tossing' as it was a SOP of the Tornado from 50-200ft at c550kts using its terrain following Radar to pop up to lob bomb much further than a 'dumb' drop.
For the oldies that’s what we did in Tornado - the sim - toss bombing.
That game had the perfect mission planner / campaign for its time.

Gaijin: Add it months too late, add the worst variant alongside gen 4 air superiority fighters, mess up the flight model

Not sure about Germany, but I know Britain has been screwed over in several updates now. How many updates did it take for Britain to get a supersonic jet after they were implemented again? And when Britain did get its first supersonic jet, wasn't it a phantom or something? Not even something built by Britain. Being a Britain main, I have been disappointed by more updates than I care to list. I hear Germany has also been routinely done dirty, but with "Germany suffers" being a bit of a meme, I don't know how seriously to take it.

phantom comes out, germany has mig21. Germany gets Phantom, others get swept wing jets, germany gets swept winged jets... Now this.
So since the cl-13 germany has never been close to being dominant or even meta. All they get is copy paste (which is not surprising tbh, not complaining about that). But if we are getting copy pastes at least get them at the same time. Why do Germany has to wait for literally the same Mig29 with a bit less fuel?
I expect this kind of thing with British vehicles in Warthunder, it is just unfortunate that top tier German players had to miss out on getting a good aircraft because they got the one shared with Britain instead of Russia. At least the other country that got saddled with the Tornado also got the F-16.

That flight model doesn't seem to make sense. Sure, the Tornado wasn't a super agile fighter, but it was specifically designed to fly under the radar at tree top level and hug the terrain and it couldn't do that without being maneuverable.

While the turn rate of the plane is bad; when your diving ground targets use the reverse thrust feature that comes with this plane. Pulling out of a dive becomes much easier.
Tornado Strikes the Ground more than executes a Ground Strike.
This thing is literally more of a widowmaker than the F-104G

The turn radius of the Tornado in game is realistic. The planes that turn 180 degrees in 400 yards while at Mach 1.2 are the unrealistic ones.

I think gaijin have the flight model a little rough, but it does fly about like that. I've watched F-15s and f-16s dance through the same sky the tornado seems to drag it's heels in. But it doesn't fly this much like a sled. With bombs and 50mins of fuel absolutely, but not clean

I use the pods to spot targets then I target point for Ccrp then get low and head for my mark. If you’re target doesn’t move you will kill him every time dropping accuracy bombs from near super sonic speeds coming from right over the tree tops

I once had the opportunity to fly the Tornado in the simulator that is actually used for pilot training (I served in the radar maintenance unit of the german Tornado training squadron). I'm pretty sure this is not how the Tornado actually performs. I mean it's not a fighter by any means, but it's not the space shuttle either. I haven't heard any pilot complaining even once about it's performance. On the contrary, everyone I know who works with it praises how well it still performs compared to modern aircrafts 40 years later. Also why would you even need a G-suit in a brick that can't pull 6g?
They really did the Tornado dirty in my oppinion and although I'm highly biased, I think I'm being objective here.

It flies like shit even with AIM-9Ls and flare/chaff pods. The thing is a fucking brick no matter the load. It's genuinely garbage.
Isn't this plane more maneuverable though? The Phantom can carry a ton of Bombs as well and it can turn. There's footage of the Tornado flying through the famous hills in britian where they essentially fly between the mountains. It seems a bit to strict in the game currently.

Not sure the Tornado was ever designed to do low-level dive bombing... flying in low and level on a geographical target like a bridge or a fuel dump or cluster bombs on a column, yes....
And why not lob the bombs like you did in the Canberra?
Flying extremly low was the entire point why it even has a terrain following radar. It was designed to fly at high speed, 60m of the ground. Because high up you would get murdered by soviet SAMs.

im a good pilot in tornado but 40 countermeasures against 2 types of multiple missiles arent enough without turn rate,
even with the afterburner off, missiles can easily get you after you run out of flares,
they should give it more countermeasures imo, id rather speed away from cannons (as tornado doesnt have air fighting capable cannons) or outmanuver them with airbrakes and reverse thrust, ive done this successfully everytime missiles werent an issue.
when ppl dont use the cockpit bomb sight, u can use it as low to the ground as you want
The funny thing is, the problem Phlee here is facing with bombing runs is exactly the problem the RAF faced in Desert Storm and why they stopped doing low level runs. Apparently the F-15E was more suited to the kind of warfare of lazing and bombing from high up as opposed to the kind of low level pitch up daredevil shenanigans the Tornado was designed to do. Not a bad plane, just an outdated mission profile or wasn't suited for Desert Storm.
yeah, having watched many Tornado display's, as I used to film them for the display pilots to review, I can say that the Tornado can maneuver way better than that.

The Tornado is no fighter at all. Tornados were used as Interceptors, Ground strikers, Reconnaissance planes and for electrical warfare so it turns like a bus but its fast
Luftwaffe is still using the Tornado but only because a plane for delivering American made freedom is needed and this is something the Eurofighter isn't allowed to do that and the F35A isn't in Germany yet

Even with minimum fuel, and no payload including no drop tanks, it still turns like a bus, not nearly as full load, but not enough to feasibly dogfight, which this thing wasn't really designed for, but at the same time, the tornado did have fighter variants

Idc prob gets buffed bc of the manoeuvrability and rockets , it cant do 9g , gets destroyed when turning to hard (not hard) and the ids has 4x aim9ls not 2x
