27 dresses true betrayal is the protagonist sister trashing their mother's wedding dress...
THANK YOU!! The sister is an awful person who justified her lies constantly. I get infuriated watching that.
Truth.
I would make her bald if I were the protagonist. At least the guy tried to not publish the articule, the sister never says sorry properly and even then what she did is non reversible
It's ok cause she got the best payback lol. I don't remember much of that movie but the cutting up of the wedding dress and that video speech lol.
Today you're not my sister you're just some b*tch who cut up my mother's wedding dress
The article for 27 Dresses? That’s nothing compared to how Tess treats her. She destroys their mother’s wedding dress while fully aware that it is Jane’s dream to wear her mother’s dress to her own wedding. Tess lies to Jane’s boss about who she is and demands that Jane keep the lies going so she can marry the guy. And when the article is published Tess has no support for Jane. She just accuses her of sabotaging her wedding.
The article is minor. The way Tess disrespects Jane is the bigger betrayal.
Yes finally someone said it!
I would say the article was a painful truth she needed to hear. Could it have come out in a better way, maybe, but maybe it also wouldn't have the same impact.
@@Quirkyalonester Yes, it is a painful truth she needed to hear. But it’s still not nearly as a big a betrayal as Tess destroying their mother’s wedding gown and forcing Jane to lie to her boss about who her sister really is just so the b-- can land him. And the fact that they still might end up together is infuriating.
@@kailyns8159 true. I think the article caused her to be able to stand up to her sister and reveal her own painful truth. Again, not sure that was the best way to deliver it, but I'm happy that if they did get back together, I think they would be a more solid couple. Though I am with you in feeling frustrated that it's a possibility. I think the sister has more growing up to do before she should get into another relationship.
My heart always breaks when Emma Thompson cries quietly in the bedroom so that the kids won't hear her. Although it's ambiguous whether Harry actually physically cheated on Karen with Mia or not, one of the screenwriters confirmed years later that he did, and while he and Karen stay together, they're not as happy as they once were.
I take a tiny bit of solace in the fact that the necklace is fugly.
He was having an emotional affair regardless of what they'd done physically. I think if the movie was made in 2022, they'd have included plenty of raunchy texts between Alan Rickman & the office girl, just to drive that point home.
Emma Thompson´s crying scene in love actually is the best acting performance I have ever seen! It breaks your heart!
It's interesting to note that as Juno matures, Mark actually regresses, since Juno made him feel like a teenager again. Luckily, Juno is horrified when Mark announces that he plans to leave Vanessa to chase his teenage dream. I'm glad that they didn't try to romanticise Adult/teenage relationships.
The attraction that’s implied l from him to her is also so gross.
Yes. Juno thinks of him as a cool adult and also a friend and he sees them two as equal people (of around the same age, in his opinion) and is into her. He ends up literally grooming a minor because of his own crisis of growing up. He is so gross and out of touch with reality.
The wife, at first, seems like a nagging b*tch, but when he dances with Juno and tries to kiss her, and Juno gives the baby to the wife, adult viewers see the wife in a totally new light. She is a real grown up woman, whose wish has been for a long time to have a child, and whose marriage happened to be falling apart at the same time. She is the most normal character in the movie. Her seemed "nagging" was actually him not being an equal adult partner to her, expecting her to be the only adult in the relationship.
I've experienced/seen all of these mindsets and relationships irl. This movie is so great. I first saw it as a teen and it was fine, but now as an adult with some actual life experience... it hits different.
*HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU* : Anna knew Ben was married and she still became involved with him. So if she knew he was married ... why should I feel sorry for her, exactly? The only one I feel bad for in this scenario is Janine. She's the only one who has the right to feel betrayed, seeing as *she* is the one whose husband was sleeping with Anna.
Thank you!! There’s so many people I’ve seen defend Anna and act like her anger is justified like???
The Joni Mitchell moment is so heartwrenching and somehow completely relatable even if you've never experienced it, and no matter how many times you see it. "My brilliant wife" sounds like a compliment and an insult all at once.
I start to cry every Time, if I see this Movie. I can feel her deeply Disappointment. 😢 Although she is a little bit self guilty, cause she looked in Harrys Jacket before Christmas-Evening. It's not an Excuse for Harrys Cheating on her!!
What gets me in "Love Actually" is that the Joni Mitchell CD was actually a truly sweet gift, a sign that he listened to her earlier and loves/appreciates her quirkiness. But then he had to go and ruin it all by responding to Mia's flirtations, betraying his wife (and on top of it all, buying that stupid necklace for another woman). Should have listened to Rufus when you had the chance, Harry
What about Julianne sabotaging Kimmie and Michael's wedding in My Best Friend's Wedding. That was unforgivable. I felt bad for Kimmie. She honestly did nothing wrong. She was the victim here. Julianne kept on sabotaging the wedding hoping that Michael wouldn't marry Kimmie. In the end Julianne didn't get the guy. It just shows you that when you're late, you're late and bad behaviour should not be rewarded.
I love that movie because it was so ahead of its time and totally broke the 90s romcom code!
@@91clarie Yup it was one of those rare rom-com movies where the girl didn't get the guy in the end.
@@91clarie Another betrayal was Amy sleeping with her sister's fiance in The Wedding Date. I thought that was a betrayal because Kat had no idea and everyone else knew and no one told her. Her fiance abruptly called off the engagement and she had no clue why.
Was thinking this one as well. I love that movie because Julianne does all of the things that other RomComs justify in the pursuit of well, they’re right for me and not them so I have to do what I must even if that hurts others. My Best Friend’s Wedding steps back and examines that behavior for the destructive consequences it actually has.
@@Molson-xg9hs Julianne only wanted Michael when he was marrying. If he wasn't marrying Kimmie, she would still have on a leash there as a backup. Oh and another thing it took Julianne a decade to know that Michael was the one but it took Kimmie nothing but a few months. Julianne dragged her feet for far too long. There was even a point in the movie where Michael expressed doubts about the marriage and that was Julianne's moment to say something but she didn't. That was when Michael knew.
Pretty Woman already has a lot of darkness around its edges, but the scene where Jason Alexander physically and verbally abuses Vivian after Edward changes his mind on the business deal is one of the most uncomfortable scenes to watch.
I'm agree!
That movie's original script didn't have that fun romcom ending.
I feel like the betrayal from 27 Dresses doesn’t even compare the betrayals on the rest of the list. I would put the betrayal from In Her Shoes where the protagonist’s sister sleeps with her sister’s guy after a fight.
THISSSSS!!!!!
Oh it’s even worse than the book. And the thing I think I hated most about the movie was the fact that they made them friends at the end, where in the original book they’re not. They come to terms that their sisters and that’s who they’ll be forever, but they’re not gonna be friends. And it bugs me when they do shit like that
Ugh that scene in Love, Actually hits me right in the feels. My ex had an affair for several months while mom was dying of brain cancer. I feel Karen soooo deeply. I was her. I know that hit you in face feeling when you piece it all together.
Jeeze, well I'm sorry about your mother 🙌🏾 But hope that ex of yours met karma hard! 😑🔥
9:51 - Juno isn't a surrogate mother. That's someone hired to have a baby. She's pregnant for months before she meets the couple for the purpose of adopting her baby.
bothered me also
isn't there an editor or something over there?
@@zencienfuegos Whoever creates these videos doesn't know enough about the subject matter, and the content isn't checked by someone who does.
To be fair in 27 Dresses, he is just as shocked as she is about the article releasing because he told his boss not to publish it and the boss did not listen!
The scheme that they sell for romantic comedies, it's what makes people believe that even when people have done horrible things at you, you still have to forgive them because you love them. And that's just toxic. There are times when even when you love someone, you have to let them go because what they did to you is not good
Yes! This!
I couldn't agree more, with your number one!
The Love Actually scene, is one of the most heartbreakingly, beautiful scenes, I have ever seen! And that is one hundred percent, due to Emma Thompson's, acting prowess.
She gives us a two minute masterpiece, that tells us more, than most two hour movies ever do!
I wonder if she was channeling her real life experience for that scene.
I feel validated! I always felt that Dec was such an A-Hole, I’m still angry and upset that Something Blue hasn’t been made, I’ve always felt Kate Hudson and My fellow Bostonian John Krasinski We’re the best part of Something Borrowed and thanks to him I’m 4 degrees to Kevin Bacon 🥓
Precisely, I didn't see the appeal in Dex, and wondered why either Rachel or Darcy would be interested in him.
Dex sucked, but we have to Also take into account how horrible Darcy is. She’s horrible to her best friend, she’s horrible to her fiancé, she’s horrible to just people in general and she’s not a great person. So yeah it sucks that Dex & Rachel got together the way they did, but let’s not go feeling terrible for Darcy who was sleeping with Dex’s cousin…
DeX was trash for what he did, Darcy is a narcissist and a bitch, Rachel was naive and selfish. the ONLY saving grace of that movie was John K character
I’m not a huge fan of love actually, but that scene with Emma Thompson crying in the closet it’s got to be one of the most realist things that I’ve ever seen on film that isn’t a documentary.
Secretly why Emma joined MCU Asgard
When Emily said Anna was trapped in the closet, I was like, “Holy R. Kelly, Batman!”
You forgot about The Wedding Date when Debra Messing's character finds out her sister was sleeping with her then boyfriend for many years - can't remember the biggest stab in the back in the history of romcoms!
Seeing the thumbnail without context...
"Kate Hudson slept with Anne Hathaway?
Haha, hilarious, I can't unsee this mental image now! 😂🤣
😂
😮
The fact that Brittany Snow’s character was his waitress on multiple dates but yet when he meets her at high school he’s never seen her before 😂
That's a different girl
Little Black Book
Barb orchestrated an entire episode of a talk show around Stacy's investigation into her boyfriend
For me, it’s when in Crazy Rich Asians, Eleanor and Ah Ma get mad at Rachel during Colin and Araminta’s wedding about not telling them the truth about her family when she didn’t even know.
Yes!!! That was so messed up on Eleanor's part. She was so jealous that Ah Ma seems to love Rachel, that she had to do something for her to dislike her. Smh.
@@TheOliviag5696 I know, it was so shitty. And it was like that if she wasn’t financially well-off or comfortable, she was a terrible person
Not to mention the fact that Nick didn’t tell her what she was getting into until she was already on the plane. I get wanting someone to like you for you but he threw her to the sharks with no chance to mentally prepare.
@@ashleycordova9183 YES EXACTLY!!
So happy I’m catching this early your videos bring me such peace and joy
Great video!!
Dang, all this made me realize was how much I love a good romcom. They just don't make them like they used to...
27 Dresses was the one i was thinkin' of and the 'If your still in, i'm still in' from Juno always makes me cry
the opening of hope floats with sandra bullock is pretty unforgivable
I thought about that too!
Picturing Rocket Raccoon having an affair with Black Widow while dating Betty Ross makes that so much more entertaining.
Great video
An affair with mother and daughter!
🎓 "The Graduate" (1967)
You regard The Graduate as a romcom?
@@andrewjones575 it's freaking romantic & hilarious!
Poor helen she really loved gerri so much and yet he betrayed and humiliates her
I just realize something the main character in John Tucker must die is basically the main character from the anime school days mostly because like the main character from the anime he dates multiple girls
Something borrowed will always rub me up the wrong way. Dec was no prize to win he was the worst! Your just going to overlook John Krasinski the adorable, supportive friend err okay. She may have been over bearing but Darcy would never do what Rachael did to her.
Talking so much about Kate Hudson but _not_ mentioning "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days" on a list of rom-com betrayals is just crazy. I'm not even really into those kinds of movies but that was a good one
Very very great list I like it a lot very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever 💗
Judy Greer's betrayal of Jennifer Garner in 13 going on 30.
Kinda surprised How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days wasn't on here
I haven't finished but I hope failure to launch is on here
Sixteen Candles VS The Breakfast Club!
They won't make a video of that, because it would require Sixteen Candles being praised, which a major channel won't do in the 2020s.
"A Cinderella Story" anyone???
Where was there a betrayal in that?
@@annafowdy when they did the skit and read the emails between Sam and Austin
@@victorialomax1585 unless they were friends with Sam prior to that, I don't think that counts.
@@annafowdy there were the 2 evil stepsisters and another girl involved
@@victorialomax1585 I believe the other girl was Austin's jealous ex.
You regard Juno as a romcom?!
It's a romance film with comedy in it, of course
@@gensai93 I don't remember much romance - just a casual fling. It's 10% comedy at most. It's primarily a drama.
Thank you! That shocked me as well
That Joni Mitchell CD scene is one reason I have a hard time watching Love Actually.... and that is a great movie!
I've always thought that if Rachel was going to end up with someone in the end, it should've been Ethan. 💔 😔
So are we forgetting that Darcy also cheated on Dex with his friend and became pregnant?
THIS!! lol I agree they were both trashy for cheating and hiding it but cmon dude Darcy admitted to Rachel she already cheated on Dex before she messed around with Marcus, Darcy was literally the serial cheater in the movie
Circle of Friends. That movie was a deep friendship betrayal against Minnie Drivers character. 😢
You regard Circle of Friends as a romcom?!
@@andrewjones575 low on the comedy. But definitely a movie of friendships, and a huge betrayal.
@@reynaolvera7526 Not a comedy, hence not a romcom, therefore not eligible.
#9 really should've used an 'at the same time'. How it's worded it sounds pretty classist.
27 Dresses when her sister cuts up her mum's wedding dress! Awful 😓
The whole premise of Bride Wars is the stupidest plot for a movie. My least favorite Rom Com.
Nostalgia alert. I see Bride Wars, I clicked
I have a thought, @MSMojo top 10 most hilarious Adam Devine moments from his career? Any thoughts?
Definitely, Maybe - when Will doesn’t give April the Jane Eyre book from her deceased father 😔
I feel bad for jane when she found out the truth
Why is Love Actually popular? There are too many stories for its length, most of which are incomplete &/or unbelieveable. It was often promoted as feel-good, but some of its stories are feel-bad.
I dislike that movie intensely for several reasons. The superb Alan Rickman and Emma Thompson are the only redeemable moments in that gross movie
So I wasnt the only one who though jason bateman was creepy af in juno?
In the book version of Something Borrowed, Darcy was a crappy friend and knew that Rachel liked Dex. Darcy never really loved Dex she just liked the idea of being the perfect couple. Although sleeping with another person's significant other is wrong. Darcy had it coming. The movie really down plays how crappy was to Rachel and that Dex loved Rachel from the beginning and the only reason that he started dating Darcy was bc he didn't know Rachel loved him, too.
I agree I read the book and I see is a terrible friend but in the sequel I was glad to see that Darcy was able to reclaim you know her goodness in a way but I still love something borrowed and I still want my free movies with me and my fiancé one and he actually liked it a little bit too
@@ashleyprice9487 Like I said in my post you feel the betrayal a little bit more in the movie because while movie Darcy is not a saint she’s not as bad as book something borrowed Darcy. I actually prefer the sequel because I still find Darcy more intresting. Plus I think Kate and John could have had good chemistry
@@mariaskabardonis8353 no I totally understand and I agree Darcy was a lot better than the first book. I was just saying she was still terrible friend and I was glad in the sequel she was able to redeem yourself, and actually both of them were able to get together because I even fell in the movie that they could go together, so no, I totally understand.
I am glad in the sequel she was able to redeem herself to. I just feel in the movie that Darcy was more a bad girlfriend to Dex but not so bad a friend to Rachel as she is in the first book
In love actually, for all she knew, he could of just been saving that necklace to give her in person on Xmas morning
Not a rom com but the biggest A hole in movie history imo belongs to: Col. Tavington in the Patriot. He killed two of Benjamin martins sons, one right after he was married. He admits enjoying killing him to his father's face, and that was his youngest child about 10. And he shot the kid right in front of everyone. He killed Gabriels wife, along with innocent town people for supporting Benjamin by traping them in a church then setting it out fire. And that is just one day after Benjamin's son got married only to lose his wife in that church then Tavington kills Gabriel himself. He ordered his troops to terrorize the town even killing kids as a message for the heros to back off. Personally he deserved to die Far worse then he did. But I never do much emotion and hate towards a movie character as I did him. What an amazing actor.
What about the movie "The Switch"?
Yeah that was super creepy
Darcy was worse in the books but I never really enjoyed it was like Rachel had a lot of issues withDarcy but could never break up with her. I enjoying the next story about Darcy and Ethan more than Rachel and Dex. The betrayal is more felt in the movie cause while Darcy is not a saint she’s not as bad.
Damn that necklace always gets me
The Truth about Cats and Dogs tells of a friend stealing the boy her gal pal likes. But nothing comes above First Wives Club where the betrayal of three women begins the film.
When you've watched all of them🙂🙂🙂🙂💔
Wouldn't exactly say that Darcy is the victim in Something Borrowed considering that she is messing around with Marcus and actually gets pregnant by him. Rachel and Dex.might have cheated first but esh.
I found the character of Darcy annoying, yes Rachael and Dex weren’t saints but Darcy belittled and in a way manipulated Rachael as well. Dex had no guts really and I always felt like Rachael deserved better but the heart wants what it wants.
I like how in the comment you wrote Darcy because i got amphibia flashbacks
Great great great
I'm not sure how much you could consider this movie a "rom-com", but if you were to include international titles on this list, there's a certain moment in Ryusuke Hamaguchi's Asako I & II that would make this list. Anyone who's seen that movie knows the exact moment I'm talking about.
What happens?
In hindsight Darcy stole Dex while he was dating Rachel, and they had great chemistry, plus she slept with another man and pregnant with his baby.
He never dated Rachel.
He had a crush on her but did nothing
She liked him but did nothing.
I would have put Juno first... just the ick factor would put it over the top.
You regard Juno as a romcom?
I always think of She's All That...
Why didn’t Greg just destroy the letter? Why stash it?
1
You guys blew it: The Last American Virgin. Duh.
Where is How to lose a guy in 10 days??
😮
I can’t stand Something Borrowed for the story and characters alone!
❤️👌
Omg
Oh man yeah forgot how much Greg from “Love, Rosie” sucked.
Not enough unfaithful women in the list.
I don’t think Mark is HITTING on Juno. I jus think he was jus lost in the fantasy of not being married and not about to have a child. I never got he was into Juno at all aside from the obvious.
Most of these movies make me cringe. They definitely frame women against one another even if they were previously friends 😒
Mayor case eff Alan Rickman
In the books, Something Borrowed Something Blue… Darcy ends up with the really good guy in Ethan while the back stabbing ex friend and ex fiancé end up together which is fine by me. Darcy wasn’t a villain. Nothing she did justifies their actions.
Except that she was also cheating and pregnant with another man's child.
Idk why nobody is talking about 10 Things I Hate About You? Literally everyone in that movie was awful and they didn't even get their comeuppance.
Looks like they want us to forget about that film. It's for the best imo
I hate Rachel in Something Borrowed and I feel bad for Darcy. Yes, she’s cheating too but Darcy improves in Something Blue and Rachel never really does. It’s all justified because her and Dex were meant to be and we’re supposed to be happy for her. I always imagine that Rachel or Dex eventually cheated on the other though. I still wish that someone would make the sequel at long last.
Whoever's reading this,I pray that whatever you're going through gets better and whatever you're struggling with or worrying about is going to be fine and that everyone has a fantastic day! amen
In love actually, for all she knew, he could of just been saving that necklace to give her in person on Xmas morning
