    Thanks so much for the review. Been really curious about the differences between these two lenses. You and Christopher Frost are my go to for lens reviews for my ZFC. I already have the 24mm and love it. I like that it's lighter even though it's more plasticy. Love your street photos too. Really like night shots with neon etc.

    Haven’t used the Viltrox lens. I recently purchased the Nikon lens to use primarily for street photography. I love it! Super light weight and small, unobtrusive and very sharp wide open. With the 1.7 aperture, you can get some nice subject separation. I’d highly recommend the Nikon lens

    I enjoyed the review and appreciate the effort put into it. Don't have either lens at the moment but do have a range of Viltrox lenses that are great value. One point of clarification: diffraction is a function of the entrance pupil diameter and nothing else. If one lens stops to f/45 and the other to f/11, they will both have identical diffraction at all apertures from wide open to f/11. Aberrations can and will differ, but not diffraction.

    Nice review man. I`m still considering if I should get the 24 1.7 for my Z fc. Had the Viltrox before for my A6400 but it`s too bulky for the Zfc I guess. The plastic Nikkor doesn`t bother me to much. I just wish they made the SE version for it like 28 and 40mm to fit the Z fc better. ps. Good to see that not only my hands are shaky when holding stuff in front of the camera ;D

    Thanks for the video. I was hoping to see a comparison of chromatic aberration which you mentioned in another comment to be worse on the Viltrox.
    Funny that the price of Viltrox jumped so much, I can witness that here in Finland as well.
    Luckily I got mine used but in mint condition for almost 100€ cheaper than the Nikon, which made it a no brainer, especially considering that I can use the same filters as on my Sigma 30mm.

    • @IliasKoureas
      @IliasKoureas  Před 10 měsíci +2

      A year ago I got it really cheap as well which was an incredible steal 😁 yes I should've made a test on the chromatic aberration but I kinda forgot about it to be honest 😔 but from the sample pics that I have taken in many different scenarios the Nikon handles it way better wide open
      At f2.8 both clear up eventually

    Currently using the viltrox 23mm f/1.4, by far my go to lens. Seldom used my z 40mm. I like the FF equivalent of 35mm better. The viltrox have some awesome low light capabilities and bokeh effect. Also love its built quality (all metal). However the downside is it is bigger in size. So the new nikkor 24mm dx lens might be a dealbreaker especially for street and travel photography. Love your review thanks!

    May I ask why in the image quality tests the pictures taken by the Nikon lens often use a faster shutter speed? This maybe one of the reason why the nikon lens pics are darker.

    • @IliasKoureas
      @IliasKoureas  Před 8 měsíci

      It's probably because of some clouds that went in front of the sun. Nevertheless, the Nikon has some small vingeting problems in wider apertures. Nothing to worry about 😅

    Hi Illias! 👋🏻 I actually switched from Viltrox 23 mm f1.4 to Nikon Z DX 24 mm f1.7 and honestly I am super happy with that decision, although I made it as 100% blind choice - at that time there were literally no reviews of Nikon 24mm f1.7.
    It is not only much lighter and compact compared to Viltrox (that makes chasing my 1yo daughter easier 😂) but for me it also produces better looking photos.
    And also I really enjoyed your video, cheers from Poland 🇵🇱✌🏻

    Ilias, I need your assistance. I recently got the Nikon Z fc camera from watching your videos. It is a fantastic camera all round, however I have noticed that the battery this camera takes is probably the least supported battery I can find. K&F don't even support this battery. I wanted to know what your thoughts are with the battery and how you get around this issue. Do you buy any 3rd party EN-EL25 battery brands or do you buy Nikon's own. Also have you had issues with battery life and having no way of charging them away from home. It be greatly appreciated to hear your thoughts on the matter

    • @IliasKoureas
      @IliasKoureas  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Hello mate I happy for your new camera , I hope you create many memories with it!! ❤️ About battery life I would suggest 100% to save a little bit more and just get 1 or 2 extra original Nikon batteries. Personally I have only two batteries and they are more than enough for a whole day of photography. I didn't even needed a third one on wedding days or on large hiking trips etc. I don't have a solution on charging it on the way. You can charge it via USB C with a power bank or something but you have to get the exact cable for this job so I didn't even bother. I recently bought a really cheap JJC dual battery charger for less than 20$ (you can find these in Amazon or in most camera shops) and it really is a lifesaver!! Charging my two batteries at once is all I need. I know that Nikon branded batteries are really expensive but they are worth it. Hope that helps Stephen 😃

    • @stephenthomas00
      @stephenthomas00 Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@IliasKoureas Thanks so much for the help! I have ordered a JJC dual battery charger, didn't even see it on amazon till now! So glad to find one that supports USB. I am loving the camera so much, picked it up at MPB at an absolute bargin, second hand. Honestly its pretty much mint condition, with the 16-55 kit lens. The images are crisp, the dials are snappy and percise. One major surprise for me is how everyone has said this camera is light and cheap feeling. WHAT!? Its got some weight to it with the lens and battery combined. Can't even tell most of the time it's made of plastic, especially when the body gets cold it nearly feels like metal. My only gripe with the camera is the battery choice. It's surprising how little support there is for it on the market. I dunno if its because there is only 3 camera's that support it or if its the lastest in terms of the EN-EL series. Either way i'm not disappointed in the camera its self. Your an insperation, hell inspired me to finally make a decision! Look forward to your next video! :)

    • @IliasKoureas
      @IliasKoureas  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@stephenthomas00 Yes that charger since it has usb connections is perfect for on the go and you can use it with a power bank or with a regular charging block on an electrical outlet. In my opinion this camera HAS to be light and small because we are supposed to have it on us during walks , travels , hikes etc. So i guess people that get annoyed by the ergonomics dont understand the purpose of the camera. Thank you , stephen for your kind words im really happy :D

      the Zfc has a full metal Body, it is build by a light weight Magnesium alloy like the professional Cameras use too. The masses can`t judge or think on their own anyway, it is easier to just repeat the nonsense what others say, than to think for their own.... the Zfc is just right for an everyday all purpose tool, that even looks phantastic....@@stephenthomas00

    I think that I will get the Nikon lens, I agree that it might have it's own flaws but it still should work better being a native lens. Right now I use an adapted Sigma 50mm F1.4 Art lens on my Nikon Zfc and it has its moments of hunting etc.

    • @IliasKoureas

    Thanks for this review - I have literally just received the Nikon 1.7 24mm and intend to use it for street and lowlight on a Z30 which is a super portable combo.
    The only thing I am not sure of is the lens hood - as a matter of course I always fit a UV filter to my lenses for protection. looks to me as if I can only fit this filter to the lens hood if I intend using it - the alternative being fitting it to the lens and forgetting the hood.

    • @IliasKoureas
      @IliasKoureas  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Personally i love using the 24mm without the hood to keep it small. With the hood you will get more contrast in your images. If you edit your files you can always add it yourself later on and not care about the hood. Keep it in your camera bag tho , just in case you shoot in harsh sunlight
