    How much do you love Artur Dmietriev for saying that he didn't deserve the 6.0, just the 5.9's? I always loved his skating--so passionate and innovative. But to hear him say that and know how honest and humble he is, makes you love him as a person, too.

    I never got what was so “great” about Arthur’s skating. He’s like a mere assistant to his both partners on the ice. Throw, lift, put her down on the ice. Thank you very much. To me all eyes were on Natasha and Oksana. Even here: her elegance, her beautiful lines, amazing flexibility, emotional dramatic skating. Just awesome. I barely notice he’s there at all.
    Sikharulidze was a different story, now he had a real personality on the ice.

    Good skating and easy gold, but the marks were pretty generous. 5.9s for tech with a singled axel and 6.0 for presentation?? I would have given 5.7/5.9 at the most. Artur was right that 6.0 was rather generous.

    • @skaterboy-cz9wj
      @skaterboy-cz9wj Před 5 lety

      I think 58/59 is about right. The only real error was when she did a single axel but jump wise they were solidly ahead of the rest as they did clean triples and double axels doube toe combos.

    • @douglasbrown5671
      @douglasbrown5671 Před 3 lety +1

      Compared to the other pairs atleast 5.8 for technical merit. Their teammates and the Germans had made more and much bigger mistakes and completed less and still got some 5.8s technically. Even Ina & Dungen made a bunch of mistakes and had 2 5.8s for technical merit.

    G&G always get grief for making a couple of small mistakes in their very difficult 1994 Gold Medal LP, yet this 1998 performance from K&D is,front end loaded with crappy sbs jumps&simplistic two handed lifts.

    • @douglasbrown5671
      @douglasbrown5671 Před 3 lety +5

      Crappy side by side jumps? So clean side by side triple toes, clean side by side double axel sequence, and almost another double axel (one of them singling) is crappy sbs jumps for the era, LOL! And G&G's 94 program was gorgeous but hardly "very difficult". Most of the top teams at that event were doing a side by side triple toe and a throw triple toe, they did nothing harder than a side by side double axel and even did a mere throw double axel.

    • @toxic-low-key-ghost7934
      @toxic-low-key-ghost7934 Před 2 lety +1

      @@douglasbrown5671 yes I agree, G&G we’re far above everyone in terms of elegance, flow, speed and just overall composition. However they only did double axels and one double jump which Sergei singled and katias landing on one of the throws was sloppy. Technically they did easier elements and still had small mistakes whereas the silver and bronze medalists had extremely difficult elements

      The Germans weren't clean at all. Mandy stepped out of her double axel, which is a bigger mistake than any in this program, and two footed a throw too.
