word of advice from someone who used to do this stuff for a living: you want them to work fast and proper? Bring a jug of coffee and a dozen donuts each morning. The guys will love you....

The high ground water is due to lack of trees. You can add bamboo in some areas as border and it will suck up that water fast and plant trees . Buy chestnuts and bury them. Buy fruit trees. Trees are like hydraulic pumps and will drain water. Plant clover seeds for green ground cover. Then get some beehives . Sell some cars to pay for it all

Tyler--Its good to see progress on your 3.0 garage and your additions to your home. You should have the leaky areas checked for mold immediately. My wife and I moved into our new home about 25 years ago and about several years later discovered some mold issues that wound up getting us both very sick. Mold can really mess you up especially if it isn't removed right away. That said--I hope you and April and your daughter are feeling better soon. PS--The dozen donuts suggestion along with coffee idea in the morning for the workers is a great idea. Take care Tyler--JT

When my nephew would spend more than a day at his grandmothers house he'd get sick. He had countless tests done, and even had his tonsils removed. A few years after all that his grandmother redid her basement. They found black mold under the flooring, likely what was making my nephew sick.
tonsil removal(unless rare medical emergency) is exactly as retarded as clitoris cutting....
My daughters flat (10 years old) not built with sufficient ventilation and had mould in the ventilation system, made her sick for 9 years to the point where she had to stop working through poor health. People do not realise how mould affects health, and it does greatly!

Hoovie, I feel for you on the construction headaches. My own 6-month workshop project that was supposed to be $125k ended up at 1.5 years and a quarter mil. My plans for how I financed it also turned into a nightmare BUT at the end of it I had my dream shop and it's been worth it ever since. Hang in there!

Meh, I had a 104 fever 3x in two weeks. Sweated it off while I worked.
Yup go to the doctor. I tried to “man through” a fever/sweats etc and ended with sepsis. Had 4 doctors tell me how stupid I was and how close to death I got.

Sorry you and your family aren’t feeling well. Make sure you get plenty of rest when you can and drink plenty of fluids, too. Too bad about your mold issue in your house also, you should get that checked as soon as you feel well enough to do that. Hoovie you need an ozone generator for the mold. That mold stuff can destroy your life, I know. What I did is buy a ozone generator off of Amazon and then I took it apart to bypass the timer that doesn’t go for very long and then hooked it up to a Wi-Fi outlet so I can let it run for 6 hours or more. I would run that with the doors closed for a long time. You could also buy a big ass one that’s made for mold remediation as well they’re just commercial grade and more expensive. Just don’t breathe it in it’s not good for the lungs buy anyways you can look it up and find out for yourself but I know it works and works good because it’s a gas and can get everywhere it needs to go.
a lot of them that are like a box with a fan that have a mechanical timer thing as the only control you can just turn the dial in the different direction and that's "forever on" mode.
a 30g/h one will haze up a room in an hour pretty good and it's not expensive at all and be choochin.
also don't stare at the plates. the small digital control ones or ones built into air filters are basically useless in comparison(they're like 1g), you can look a good one that it's mechanical switch and you can see the plates inside from the pictures.
I got one locally here not-in-usa for like 25 bucks or so, 32g. similar in amazon seems way more expensive.
I agree, the only caveat is that you should also get some high velocity air circulation fans too. Let it run the ozone for as long as you can, and leave the air circulation fans on high even when it's not running. Still damp air is ideal mold conditions. Ozone kills the mold but doesn't change what caused it to grow. Lot of those commercial units are just 2 big high velocity fans and a big ozone generator that cycles on and off
Not a good idea at all to run ozone for that long in an enclosed area. It oxidizes rubber and plastic and causes them to release extremely smelly VOCs.
It also removes oxygen from the air and can kill you quickly when you pass out and die from lack of oxygen. There’s a reason there’s a timer.
@@scottmccain113 you'll get alarming irritation way before you would have replaced enough o2 in the air for suffocation.
you'd also need to really go out of your way to get a powerful enough of a system where the half life didn't come to play, the o3 just doesn't want to stay as o3. you'll get a haze from the oxygen reacting with other mostly organic compounds.
it is not like carbon monoxide or dioxide like that it would just knock you out while not noticing it. the difference in concentration from being able to smell it to having to quickly evacuate is around 500x, you'll have effects in your nose and eyes long before you'd be in danger of passing out or permanent damage.
with the plastic home ozone generators these are impossible levels to achieve and only achieved normally in industrialised setting or if you bag a house and run generation with hundreds of watts..
We did a lot of renovations when I was a kid and I will never forget all the concrete trucks and contractors that got stuck in the mud, our yard looked a lot like yours during the construction

I will recommend to you led high bay lightning for the big garage. 5000k daylight will make sure to illuminate the inside of that large space. 3 rows longitudinally will make it easy to see in that cavernous space.

Mold (mould) is caused by condensation from warm air landing on cold walls. Insulation solved the problem. Rockwool needs a vapour barrier closed cell foam does not.

My family flip houses for a living, the first item bought on site and last item to leave is our ‘ magic ‘ beer fridge for the contractors! It’s ‘ magic ‘ because we always make sure it is never empty! The fridge is there for when the guys want a cold beer it’s there for them! We even ask each worker their preferred brand. It never gets abused and am sometimes surprised how often we don’t have to get it topped up! Once a week the guys get lunch bought for them and at end of project everyone gets invited to an on-site bbq. We treat all the trades as friends, a couple of times we have been let down by people but our golden rule is they don’t come back! Our core trades are treated like gold. We find respect always has to flow both ways!

Building is always stressful - building in bad weather is even more stressful. We had a pool put in last year during the wettest summer in history - much smaller scale than you have going on here - but same feelings about being overwhelmed by the mess in the backyard and the never ending stream of bills, some unexpected or much higher than budgeted for. It's all done now though, and we've had a great summer this year so the bad memories are fading and being replaced with good ones.

Excellent suggestion. I miss a place in my hometown that had the best Hot & Sour soup. I had it often but when I was feeling lousy I would go there and the wonderful lady who owned the restaurant would make me a couple quarts of it. Wonder medicine! Sadly she retired and closed up.
get a mold detector in, and have the place checked over, as that stuff can be there when you dont even know it and get you, along with having the place throughly vacumed out, as sometimes those spores can get loose and keep coming back till you get rid of them, and just overall slow down, just do one thing at a time,
Hey Hoovie. Love what you are doing with the barn! Mold is nothing to overlook. If it continues, call in the mold specialists and get a Catholic Priest in case the barn project has upset the devil! Remembering the death of actress Brittany Murphy, from my home town, Atlanta, and her husband. She had pneumonia like symptoms, and mold is suspected in both their deaths. They died within 5 months of each other, both very young.
I hope all goes well with your flu and April's operation, and that you come back to normal health soon enough. The moist intrusion in your house has to be addressed and you have to get the place inspected for mold upbuild and if there are pockets that holds moist that has not been discovered and dried out yet. Mold will seriously mess with anybody's health and you need to make sure it is not present where you live.

My first thoughts when you said you spent 200K on the house add on was, wow, that's a lot. Then we finally see inside the house, and I'm over here like, that's the size of my house now. No wonder it cost so much. lol. As much as I watch for car content, I do love the breaks for the house/farm updates. It's a nice change of pace, and I think goes well with the car content. Hi Hoovie, Thank you for the update on Hoovie's Homestead. There has been some awesome progress made, looking forward to seeing it completed. Sorry that you've been sick. The mold is certainly not helping you. You might want to take some Olive Leaf Extract, it comes in liquid and pills. It will help get rid of any bad bacteria and it leaves the good alone. If you have problems with coughing at night? You should get a humidifier (cool) to help with keeping your lungs healthy. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Take care and God bless you. 😎
