Venice & The Fall of Constantinople

  • The fall of Constantinople was one of history's great events, one of those moments that shaped the future of an entire continent. We often think about it as this great struggle between the mighty Muslim forces and the last remnants of the Roman Empire. And it certainly was all of that. But Constantinople fell not because of Sultan Mehmed II of the Ottomans. It fell because of the Doge of Venice.. sort of.
