      It would be good to see a comparison between the TF5 and the NT5, recording the same tunes/musicians and the mics set up the same way - I realise they are opposite ends of the scale, but it would be good to be able to compare the sound of the two ends of the price range, to compare what you are getting for your money in each case.

    Just been recording all day with a new pair of TF-5s that a client bought into the studio. We were recording a handmade solo steel string acoustic guitar by Christopher Melville. Recording through the Neve unison pre on a UAD x these mics blew us away. Ever since the demise of the classic km84 I’ve been looking for the perfect guitar mic. With these mics I didn’t even get around to placing them! The guitarist set up about a metre away from the stereo pair, - way further away than I would ever normally use - and the sound that came out of my Focal monitors was STUNNING. Perfectly balanced gorgeous bottom end and totally natural top end. I’ve recorded this client on so many albums over the last twenty ++ years but this ends the search. These are the new modern day classics! I would love to hear how others are going with them? I’ll record a video when I get some time. Awesome job Rode!

    THAT is a great sounding microphone! Gorgeous, warm and, seems to me incredibly accurate. There no faking it in front of that pair. Damn good job Mitch!

    Wow Mitch, good classical playing. You've sparked my interest in that mic!

    Mitch,
    I have heard you play a normal acoustic and electric and you play them very well however, on the classical you have moved into a completely different ballpark.
    I tip my hat to you Sir!!!
    Which is quite an accomplishment since I don't wear a hat!
    And like the other one said,
    Did you say something about a mic? I was so mesmerized, your skill on that instrument blurred everything else away.
    Bravo good Sir!

    Mitch your guitar playing took over my attention......what were you talking about again???

  • @skakdosmer
    @skakdosmer Před 2 lety

    So nice to hear more than just talk! Listening to some excellent guitar-playing recorded in stereo with the microphones in question raises the value of the video to a completely different level. So thanks a lot.
    Only complaint: You're really tempting me to buy them, and they're quite a bit over the budget I normally work with.

    I was thinking about the Audio Technica 5045 but its side capsule design makes it a little more of a challenge. In addition a pair of these Rode TF5 is about the same price as the AT. It really has a smooth open sound that does not have some mid harsh sounds of some other mics.

    Wow! Nice playing! It's interesting to see Rode try to break into this high end condenser category. $1500 for a matched set of small condensers is no joke. I wish them luck, and am interested to see if they can break the "prosumer" stigma.

    I was interested that you said that the frequency response reaches down to about 40Hz (2.54). The Rode specs state 20Hz to 20k.
    It's possible that your tests show that it's absolutely flat to 40Hz . It would be interesting to know what you meant.
    Nice playing BTW.

    Are the guitar samples raw, unedited audio recordings?

    Thanks for that..i'm definately sold on the idea of getting a pair of these.. :-)

    Either these mics are very small for pencil condensers, or Mitch is a 10 foot giant. Look at that little thing in his hand. LOL

    Very nice Mitch! What’s the mic distance in this video?

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  Před 4 lety +3

      Thanks! The mics were 4-5 feet away, directly in front of the guitar, about shoulder height (seated) and in an X-Y pattern.

    Профи, объясните мне, за что тут 100к рублей. Есть те же СОЮЗ 013, на сегодня тоже одни из обсуждаемых.
    Есть Lewitt LCT 040, за 12к стерео пара. А тут куда 100к за пару малюток.
