Back in high school in the late 2000's, my best friend Tara had a silver 1993 Dodge Intrepid ES. She loved that car. It was in her family since brand new. When Tara was just a baby, her mother bought the car brand new at the Dodge dealership in Canoga Park, California in early 1993. Tara started driving the car in 2008 when she got her driver's license. One of the reasons why Tara loved her Intrepid is because she is into nostalgia and so am I. I've driven the car a few time before. Tara drove her Dodge Intrepid until 2015 when it finally gave out. Tara and her family had lots of memories with her beloved Intrepid and she was so sadden that she no longer has it. Shortly after her '93 Intrepid ES was scrapped, Tara found and bought a white 1994 Dodge Intrepid that recently had a new engine put into it. The '94 Intrepid is the base model and it had a little over 194,000 miles on it when Tara bought it. Believe it or not, as of 2022, Tara is still driving the '94 Intrepid and the car is still running good. She keeps it in good shape as possible like she did with her '93 Intrepid. Tara loves these cars. However, she doesn't like the 2nd generation Intrepid. I can see why she doesn't. The 2nd generation Intrepid in our opinion is too bloated. The 1st generation Intrepid has more styling.
93-95 Intrepids have OBD 1 engine management. Being older and simpler, they do not sense the removal of the third catalytic converter. 1996 and newer have OBD 2 and will throw a check engine light for the missing catalytic converter. Best to leave the cat there, use a single inlet/dual outlet muffler and run dual exhaust from there if you need to have dual. I had a 97 Chrysler Concorde 10 years ago and I just ran single exhaust from the catalytic converter back. I was happy with the way that sounded too.
I just got mine recently, straight piped from the resonator, not nearly as deep, idols like a v8 but sounds like a gtr. Still legal, not above 90 decibles, also mine has 20,000 miles on it, so it's a collector's car, and I can legally have it as loud as I want.
Yo con un 94 en Santiago de Chile. Aún por debajo de los 130.000 km.
En buenas manos son eternos!
