Update to video: The price of the X-Caliber 8 has increased to $1,600.
I knew they raised the price. The price for the x-caliber 8 is now $1,599.99 instead of $1,529.99. Still a great value, nice video as always.

I’m here in the KC area, bought my 2022 Xcaliber 8 last fall. As far as I know there hasn’t been a 8 or a 9 in any store since and I keep checking.

Hey, thanks for your effort and uploading so many videos. Your content tells me that you know much, much more than my local Trek dealers in Europe. X-Caliber 8 2022 is on sale right now and I can get one for 1155 USD. I am only afraid that XL frame which is available will be too big for me. My height is 6'1''. Unfortunately they don't have it in store so I can't test it.
You’re welcome! I’m flattered. And regarding your issue, I do think XL would be a little too big, but it’s nothing crazy and I think you could make it work if you have to. Did they give you a lead time on when the Large size may be available? And if you haven’t already, it would be good to call around with any local Trek dealers to see if anyone has any in stock or may be getting some in the near future, that’s how I ended up getting the size I wanted but I may have also been lucky
The QR rear is the only turn off for me for this bike. But this is the best bang for buck bike for me plus the white color is what I really love.
Boost 141 it's going to be the future standard.....141 and 148 are the same...

I let him go. The summer of 2021 was presented. I ordered it in November. They promised spring. It is now the end of 2022. Maybe. I went into a store and bought a Scott instead. At least it's available. It's annoying that in Asia it is advertised in stores. With us, customers do not receive it

I have a question: Is it possible to transfer all components from Xcaliber 9 to X Caliber 8?

Thank you! And yes that is possible, though it would take good amount of time and effort. They share the exact same frame so as long as you get the same size frame it’ll work great

Didn't finish the video yet but 1 question why does some pictures of the x caliber 9 2021 have an xt cassette but comes in an slx cassette is it different because of the regions or what?
As far as I know, no X-Caliber 9 in recent years (2020 -2022) has come with an XT cassette despite Trek’s images showing it with one. All of the listed specs always say SLX cassette though and I’ve seen and built many of them and they always have SLX. Maybe it’s a region thing but at least in the US it’s SLX

According to Trek’s website, the max is a 32 tooth. I haven’t seen someone try to put a larger one so I am not 100% sure unfortunately, but I know a 32 works

I went to my local trek shop today and they are going to sell me the 9 for the price of the 8. They told me they are trying to sell them all as Trek is discontinuing this line and all the frames will be turned into Marlins. Is this true?

No. it was replaced by marlin8

arent the spokes different on these bikes...the 8 has 14g spokes but 9 has 15g spokes
Hmm I’m not sure. They seem to have the same exact wheelset so it would be strange for the spokes to be different. Did you see that on the specs somewhere?

These bikes are still available in 2024. Seems trek no long makes new models every year. Not the same trek as it once was
Yeah they’re definitely outdated now. Trek has been updating most of their other mountain bikes though which is nice to see
