If the frames are essentially similar, what causes the DS3 to be so much lighter than the DS2? The wheels?

Thanks for this informative video. I have an Ex8 and my husband just bought an Ex7. I've been trying to talk him into buying one since I got mine LOL. I've upgraded my forks due to my light weight. I was wanting to confirm if swapping out the stock forks from my 8 to his 7 would be a good upgrade for him. After watching your video it sounds like it would be a good idea. Thanks again!

I noticed that they have the Roscoe 7 and 8 on sale right now. I'm a beginner rider who originally looked for the 6, but it was sold out. The 8 normally seems to cost 2.4k. Idk why.

I'm not aware that I bought the 2024 Roscoe 7 Satin Black Olive. I just chose the colour that catches my attention on the Trek Australia website, I'm still waiting for the bike to be shipped to my local bike shop. I might gradually upgrade the components by starting with the cheap pedals, low riser bars and stems. 🤩

Aggressor and Avalanche frames are different. Aggressor chain-stays are hard linked behind the seat post. And Avalanche has tapered head tube.

What's better marlin 6 or marlin 5 gen 3?

Could you in future test the ride on steep or longer hills. Where I live in LA I have short very steep hills plus the best roads just a couple miles away are about 5 percent grade for a couple miles, so I mainly want the ebike in order to survive hills for errands and recreation. I saw a Soltera2 ebike review that very helpfully showed that with barely pedalling or just sitting using basically only pedal assist on a very steep hill the bike went only 2 or 3 mph and ground to a halt in a couple minutes, but constantly pedalling kind of hard with max pedal assist made it up a mile long very steep hill holding 7 or 8 mph, that kind of info is very helpful especially if someone could say how hard or athletically they had to pedal to maintain that 7 or 8 mph (which that reviewer did not say, by the way)

Thanks for a very informative review, but how could you tell us that the chain ring "looks like" 62 or maybe 54 55. You made your point, that it is a relatively big chainring, but how could you not bother to check the specs or count the teeth if you had to? i realize many riders especially riders who did not spend time riding conventional bikes (good for them anyway for e-biking) don't care. but a lot of us want to ride the ebike mostly under our own power for some flat non-windy parts of the ride, and the chainring teeth numbers will tell us a lot about whether we will be able to. I ride my conventional mountain bike on the 30 or 40 teeth chainring, but if you put a 55 teeth chainring on it I would quickly grind to a halt. So ebikes that commonly come with a 40 or 42 tooth chainring might be just the gearing I want, while 55 teeth might be way off. Sorry if my being quite ignorant about ebikes ( I AM trying to learn more) makes my comment make no sense.

On my 11 old Trek bike I have a labei alpha gold aluminium. There is no place where silver and gold alpha aluminium are explained. And nothing like this exists outside Trek. It seems to be a fake.

From your videos I've learned that Giant Talon are a mountain entry bikes that perform well on paved roads compared to the rest of brands. This is what I was looking for, speed on paved road with some light trail capabilities (three roots, some rocks). Gravel road will be child's play for these bikes. Also, I like that most frame size can use 27.5 and 29 inch wheels.

5:20 you mentioned that gen2 frame is a little faster than gen3 on gravel and on paved roads. Is it a noticeable difference? I would enjoy additional speed on my bike.

Serious question. Why would anybody want rigid front forks? I've been riding Trek Mtn bikes for 15 yrs with front suspension and never thought about it. Is there some benefit to rigid front forks ? Seems like all the bumps go directly to your hands & arms , no?

When will Trek make an XXL in the Roscoe?

The 7nis my first Trek MTB and I LOVE IT! I converted it to a gravel bike by putting a modified road bike front crank and sprocket on it. *Moved inside sprocket to the outside and the outside sprocket on top of that to give space for the frame. It hauls a** now and feels like you're floating even on the roughest of roads and trails. Even over large bumps, tree roots and train tracks. It's floats over everything.

I think they've rolled over a few of the 2023 model's colours, at least in the UK. We have Miami Green with the updated specs for 2024.

Nothing like finding the best comparison video out there AFTER ordering one haha. Thankfully for me, I ordered the Elite for my wife so I think I did good! Especially since the Elite is currently on sale from Specialized (and apparently retailers too) for USD$950! Question for you: You mentioned the rear derailleur that gets dented up too easily (I think it was the 12 speed one)...the other ones are more resistant to damage? And what do people who have that 12 speed one? Replace it every year? Or are there other ones they can upgrade to? And must they also upgrade the shifter too? Thanks!
