    Hi, love to watch your informative enthusiastic video's 😁!
    I want to buy my first serious mountainbike... but i can't make up my mind wich one.
    I wil use it for riding on a normal road and for trail.
    Should i go for the new marlin 6 gen 3 (2024), Marlin 8 gen 3, X-caliber 9 or the Roscoe 7?
    What do you guys think wil be the best buy for the buck??
    Greetings from Holland😁

      All of the colors on this bike specifically are a gloss finish, but some marlins do come with more matte paint jobs

    i’m currently looking for a bike that will do sort of a bit of everything (some road, dirt, gravel). basically a rugged commuter where i don’t have to worry about the terrain i’m on but also no crazy mountain trails but maybe ride some moderate trails if i wanted to in the future. im considering the 2023 marlin 6 gen 3 but would it be overkill for this? or could i use something like a marlin 6 gen 2 or even a marlin 5?

    • @TalalipopMTB
      @TalalipopMTB  Před 7 měsíci

      You can totally make that work with the marlin 6 gen 3, but I’ve ridden lots of moderate trails on my marlin 5 gen 2 and it’s held up just fine. I think you could save some money and go with a gen 2 marlin which is also better for the road/commuting since it’s lighter weight and faster than the gen 3 bikes on the road, but any of them can work if you want them to!

      what about a new dual sport 3 gen 5 as an all around bike instead of the marlin 6 gen 3. which would you choose

    Marlin 6 has grown up substantially… I remember ~6 yrs ago it was riding on lowly Tourney drivetrain…

      Personally i reccomend a marlin 4 gen 2 for an absolute beginner. Its got everything you need and nothing you dont to get started.
      Or if youre wanting a little more expensive option, the marlin 6 gen 3 will work wonders. Both are really good bikes, 6 is a little more expensive for vastly upgraded parts like hydraulic disc, a better suspension fork, a better derailleur, and a better drive train, but both are still absolutely solid. Trek bikes are great for their value in what you pay for

      I wouldn’t worry about it. I have the Deore 1x10 on my marlin and it’s fantastic. The front shock is better on the new one, but it’s also going to cost more.

    • @TalalipopMTB
      @TalalipopMTB  Před 7 měsíci

      I agree, the current marlin 6 is not a bad bike at all and yeah the new one will likely cost even more

    • @TalalipopMTB
      @TalalipopMTB  Před 7 měsíci

      The marlin 4 does not have a gen 3 version so the gen 2 will be the newest frame model of that bike. There is a 2024 version of the marlin 4 that is not out yet and it has some upgrades over the 2023 version, and I'll release a video on that bike tomorrow if you're interested!

    I know I ask u this before but I have Marlin 4 what would be smart to upgrade ?

    • @TalalipopMTB
      @TalalipopMTB  Před 3 měsíci

      Not sure how comfortable you are upgrading parts yourself, but I’d personally start with some good pedals with metal pegs so you don’t slip off them when riding. Next thing I’d do would probably be some better tires, you can do a wider 2.35” or 2.4” tire with better traction for rougher trails and that would help a lot. Drivetrain is a bit harder to upgrade since it uses a freewheel, but you can also do better grips, and change the handlebar and stem to a wider bar and shorter stem if you prefer trail riding, or keep it if you prefer cross country

    • @TalalipopMTB
      @TalalipopMTB  Před 3 měsíci

      Nice! Marlin 7 is a nice bike and the Roscoe is really awesome for sure. Pedals I’ve pretty much only used the Bontrager elite pedals because I got a bunch when I worked at Trek, but it’s basically the same thing as the raceface chester pedals which are super popular. Grips are definitely personal preference so I’d recommend just going to a bike shop and feeling a bunch of them since there’s so many options out there
