Hi Dustin ! I have been watching you for a while now I really enjoy your content. I just have to say this video really had my attention I t ruely love runes. I usually make mine. All of yours are lovely . The crystal ones are nice also. I will probably get the clay ones with the book set. Crystals are something else I really enjoy . I do love the rune cards also . The pirate 📦 so nice, the little round one my fave.

Yay!! I just got a forge of the Phoenix set!! EEEEEE!!! I have several different types of sets and have been reading for years. Like you I got my first clay set with the little gray book way back in the late 90s. I used that little set exclusively until one broke. I’ve always wanted that special set that would just be my go to and haven’t found it. I’m thinking this will be the ONE! Of course I always say that but I’m hopeful. I adore that it is hand made from something repurposed. Thank you again for this episode fantastic as always.

You mention The Viking Way as a good book for learning the runes. It actually doesn't deal with the runes per se but with Sejdr and its Sami origins, so I would NOT recommend it for someone wanting to learn about the runes, but it is an excellent book on Sejdr!
I'm not sure if you are going solely off of the list in the description or the video but I think the context of this recommendation may have been lost in translation, or I was simply jumping around, which happens a lot LOL - To clarify: The Viking Way is a great book to learn about the historical and contextual perspective of the the traditions of the Vikings and their systems of magic and beliefs with regards to runes, and he has some great insights in the third chapter if I recall correctly, its been some time. As a simple book for learning the meanings and divinatory use of the runes, no, I completely agree with you! But if I recall correctly I did recommend some other excellent books for this exact thing such as A Little Bit of Runes, Runes the Icelandic book of the Futhark, A Book of Runes etc. Thanks for watching and commenting Sejdr!

Yes, the other books you mentioned are maybe more appropriate for learning the runes themselves as symbols and as an esoteric and divinatory system.
Nightside of the runes by Karlsson is an excellent book, just to name one of the mentioned ones.

This book was lumped into a section of books recommendations about studying the runes in general. My goal in this section was to present both beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels of content for people to look into, as well as the more academic mundane side that we see in Price, with the more esoteric side we see in Karlson. Karlson's book was for sure an eye opener for me and is one of my favorite reads so far on the runes!
I would love to hear your thoughts on book recommendations! Have you made it through the newly released TROLLRÚN by Nicholaj de Mattos Frisvold or Runa: The Wisdom of the Runes by A.D. Mercer? Both recently found their way into my library and I am very excited to dive into them after I finish my current reads!

Those Cosmic Whisper tile cards are beautiful. I was given blue goldstones to make a set of runes: hopefully the carving process of this particular material isn't too difficult, haha.
Goldstone is a man made stone and is basically glass - so a Dremel of sorts designed to etch glass should do well to carve into them!
@@ModernMetaphysicae Yes, I knew that, just wasn't sure if whatever they add to it made it more challenging to carve; but it's only a 6 on Moh's scale so it should be alright, haha!

You were a college professor or librarian of divination/occult in some life, right? How does using runes differ from using tarot (I know nothing about runes). Always fascinating, Dustin, thanks!
If either of those proffessions were less political and paid better I would LOVE to be one. They are both forms of divination. Runes are a lot like Tarot or and Oracle really where you can use spreads, or like Lenormand, you can cast the entire set of runes. Other than the oblivious differences, one may draw many parallels. Runes are the more ancient of the two divinatory practices, MOST modern rune divination practices can draw parallels to cartomancy, its not really until you look into the historical use of runes and divination, or the more advanced things that integrate other modalities that it diverges dramatically.

Ruuuuuunes!!! I came to gaze lustfully at your rune sets. I have 6 and I love them all dearly, but I do play favorites. I LOVED the china ones. I looked on her website and there were a bunch in witches runes that I wished were available in furthark, but sadly were not. I will have to keep checking in with her. Thank you!
She regularly posts more just keep your eyes peeled. They are all made by hand and just simply amazing!
