I always felt affection for Aunt Jemima..never thought she was less than anybody...never looked at her in a negative fashion at all.

Agreed. Good food, a welcoming face, affectionate and happy- just like the moms I grew up knowing in my neighborhood.

You don't get it. What you just said was the whole point behind the "mammy" archetype. It was created to have a "comfortable" image of black people when black people started demanding civil rights and were seen as troublemakers for doing so.

It's crazy how many people are saying they loved her smiling face not realizing the black men and women who worked these jobs actually hated them and would actually spit in their food, those smiles were fake. It was just survival for them.

@@jamellfoster6029 Aunt Jemima has been synonymous with high quality food; but according to "progressives" Aunt Jemima is synonymous with racism. Just like a noose is specific to blk people only according to these phony "progressives."

As a black woman, myself I find it comforting to hear good things said, like this, esp. because I've seen and heard the negative insults said against my race, that God is turning all the bad they endeared, into good.
As a child seeing her products at the table I've always associated it with love and comfort, and that I was being taken well care of. Just the smile on Aunt Jemima, and Uncle Ben's face put a smile in my heart, that everything was going to be alright.
      Thank you.

When I was little, brands like that were comforting for me to see because there were very few depictions of Black people on tv and even less Black people who owned anything,so I thought they owned the things they were on..Oh how wrong I was, but once I learned the truth,I never looked at those products the same and I'm glad they retired them..Thanks for sharing this because far too many people were upset about the brand being retired, maybe things like this will help them understand that these things should've never existed in the way did..

Insightful video! Seems like the company’s origin would be its undoing. Even after rebranding and removing stereotypical image, the name itself was borrowed from a minstrel show. The company should rebrand completely and think a little harder about how to convince consumers to buy its product, since “pearl mills company”
    doesn’t hit the spot.

How was the most current image of Aunt Jemima a negative stereotype? You want to see negative images of blk people - watch some gangster rap music video. These "progressives" wanna destroy all positive images of blk people and keep all the negative ones.
