Wearing contacts for a straight month without taking them out sounds as brutal as carrying the Ring to Mordor.
Depends on the contacts. When I was younger I would often leave them in for even longer. They were the more breathable type in the end but I did it with standard ones too. Luckily I didn't damage my eyes permanently. My right one even got better by 1 diopter.

PSA: Don't smother ticks in anything to force them to let go. Butter, alcohol, cigarettes, vaseline - all bad. They will make the tick regurgitate and increase the risk of Lyme disease. Only use tick removers or tweezers and avoid squeezing the blood sack. You're welcome :)

Today is one of those days, where instead of cat videos and sheep giving birth, you find a gem on YT you cant believe you didnt know about. This podcast is a feverdream and Im all here for it
God Elijah is such a nice man. You can hear it in his voice. Just such a gentleman.
Once Dom did a live stream on his Instagram, and I commented “you seem like you’d be such a good friend to have”. Dom read the comment and chuckled, saying “oh no I’m a terrible friend. Just ask Billy. Once he gave me a present and it was a slice of cake. And I picked it up and shoved it in his face”. (Something along those lines). So that of course just proved my point. Gosh I love their friendship so much 😂
When I listen to The Friendship Onion, I feel like I’m sitting in a pub (maybe The Green Dragon after a hard days work?) guiltily listening to a pair of long-time friends chat over a pint. Listening to Dom and Billy go down the rabbit hole of conversation is so funny and uplifting. I look forward to every episode.

'The Last Goodbye' is by far the best thing in the last HOBBIT movie.

As a Dane, I beyond appreciate Elijah describing ryebread as a "Danish Taco" hahahaha
What a treasure he is. Had no idea he was dating a Dane but it fits with the Lord of the Rings narrative as the geography of Tolkien's Middleearth is based on Jutland (Danish half-island) AND our queen illustrated the Lord of the Rings under a pseudonym. Tolkien didn't know it was our queen, he just said that her illustrations most perfectly captured the way he pictured his world. :) I agree. She's a magnificent artist

Do not burn ticks to get them off, they'll vomit into you in their panic. Just grab them as close to the skin as you can with tweasers and apply steadily increasing pressure until they let go.
As a Dane, it took me a while to figure out that Elijah was saying 'smørrebrød'.
also regarding to the usefulness, in Denmark, you always have rugbrød (the dark bread) so if you have almost nothing in your kitchen and pickled herring was one of them, you can have a piece of bread.

"The Last Goodbye" is beautiful to be fair, listened to it for the first time in a while after watching this podcast and remembered how truly amazing it was!
Elijah’s point about the body being miraculous is so true. This is random. But I broke my jaw in like 3 places in a car accident last year and they were gonna give me Percocet, and a couple other things for the pain. But I just was never in pain. Whatsoever. I felt fine. My mouth was sore after my surgery but my actual jaw never hurt.

Oh, pickled herring har been airline food! In the good old days, when you got a meal on European flights, SAS (Scandinavian Airlines System) always had a little plastic tub of pickled herring as part of the meal! It's great at night, when you come home from the movies/the theatre/a concert: a slice of rye bread, buttered or with duck's fat, boiled egg, and pickled herring..... YUM!

Heavenly Creatures is an amazing film. It's like the antithesis to the concept of the soul mate: there may be someone out there that brings out the very worst in you. I loved the human drama and I had high hopes Peter Jackson would do a good job on LotR but I still went into Fellowship thinking, 'if this is bad I'm going on a rampage'. But it was better than could possibly have been imagined.
My Wednesday in Australia has become my mental health day. What a joy, listening to the genuine love and connection these 2 have. I had the pleasure of meeting you both in Queenstown over 20 years ago and you are still both making me smile.
