Michael López-Alegría has over 40 years of aviation and space experience with the U.S. Navy and NASA in a variety of roles including Naval Aviator, engineering test pilot and program manager, NASA astronaut, and International Space Station commander. He is currently the Vice President of Business Development for Axiom Space, and has been selected to command the crew of Ax-1, the first fully private orbital space mission in human history.

@@howHumam Britain, like many, if not most, European coutries, is smack full of accents and dialects. English is a global language, so the dialects, loanwords, and accents would be even more diverse, but it is indeed one language. However, it's also given rise to other languages, like Jamaican Patois, which might sound like english at first, but it really isn't.
I think that the Scottish accent is so beautiful to listen to. Agree that we should hear more representation in films.
James McAvoy, Ewan McGregor, Sean Connery, David Tennant, Billy Connelly, Gerard Butler, Alan Cumming, Craig Ferguson etc isn't a lot?

honestly, this is one of the best episodes. i love that there's no gimmick behind having Mr. Alegria on the show - just two people super interested in what he has to say, asking the type of questions I'd like to ask and having their minds blown.

There is a local dessert from my neck of the woods called "Spättekaka", often pronounced "speddekaga", meaning "spit cake", because when its made, it's kind of woven onto a metal spit like a kebab. I'm not sure you can get it in the states, but its a traditional thing in the southernmost county in Sweden, Scania. It's made almost exclusively out of eggs and sugar.
As an italian, the 'Billy and Dom eat the world' made me suffer a bit (we don't put pickled things on pizza because you can taste only the pickled stuff if you do, as Billy noticed), but in the end it was worth watching just because I love these lovely people talking! I really love this podcast
At fist i too thought it was with vinegar and thought it was strange...but its not the classic giardiniera in aceto di vino bianco that we know here in Italy...Its an americanised version from Chicago with just oil and a pepper in it that is not even italian...Its probably more like a condiriso, a misto sott'olio,fantasia calabrese or farcitura sott'olio and a little bit of It can go on pizza because there is no vinegar..Its probably tastes like the carciofi we put on our capriciosa or the funghi and melanzane sott'olio we put in our panini.they shouldnt of called it giardiniera in the first place because its confusing.

The expanse is incredible. They worked wonders with cgi and sets and costumes and everything considering it wasn't originally like some big time show
I can't believe Dominic doesn't get influenced by Billy's strong accent. Just by watching their podcast, whenever I speak inside my head, it's always in scottish accent because of Billy.
This comment isn't relevant to any of the subjects talked about in the podcast but here's what I'd like to say: It's so awesome to see the friendship between the two of you and know where it came from. To last all these years and see how it's so fulfilling to the two of you is so heartfilling. (is that a word?)
It reminds me of something William Shatner said when someone asked him what the best thing about Star Trek was for him and without batting an eye, he didn't say "the money" or the "the fame", he said: "My friendship with Leonard Nimoy." That's the sense I get from you two :)

You should try a semla (a swedish pastry)! It's a sweet wheat bun with cardamom together with almond paste filling and whipped cream. You should find it at any swedish fika-place i think.

I adore the socks that hug the center of the foot. When we walked and walked in Italy one summer it was like my feet didn't know they could rest. I put on the "hug" socks and it totally worked.

Haha yeah, logically thinking that feet are somewhat like hands it would be the index toe.
Real Giardiniera is an antipasto, you eat it with bread or grissini. It has a sort of tomato sauce as its base made out with tomato paste, vinegar, garlic, etc. It's something that you keep a ton of in the cupboard for when you need it, just like canned food or Jam. (No, Jalapenos are not endemic of Italy 😄)

Love this podcast! I was listening while driving home yesterday and I was really hungry after work. I've had Giardiniera when I've visited Chicago on some hot dogs/italian sausage but I didn't know that's what it was called! I went right to the store and picked up a jar of it and some sourdough bread. Had it for a snack and breakfast the next day, I love it!
