  • In this video, we discuss the optimal duration of dual antiplatelet therapy (i.e., a combination of aspirin and clopidogrel) in patients with drug-eluting stents. This video reviews the meta-analysis by Navarese et. al published in the British Medical Journal in April 2015.

Excellent work, very much appreciated. The topic of DAPT duration, as well as Triple therapy, is very important and controversial. Great way of presenting them. Thumbs up

I'm a cardiac patient having had two stents inserted five months ago. I have not felt well since. Clopidogrel/Aspirin makes me dizzy, lose my balance and feel dreadful; sometimes I cannot walk across the room. If I have to take Metoprolol (which I avoid), I sometimes collapse. I have developed tinnitus and have little energy. When I get to the six month mark, I'm quitting these meds and hoping to get my old life back.

Excellent video. Thank you. Is there any concern that 10 (3%) out 338 studies were selected for meta-analysis? some kind of a selection bias? So, the long treatment intervention kills 4 and bleeds 7 while helping 20 people (13.3+6.6) per 1000 treated... is it good or bad? My conclusion that the interventions are pretty much the same until you in the group of 4. It is better to be sick than dead. Can we compare to (or predict) no intervention control group? Any intervention should save more people than letting them die without treatment. Can we compare short and long groups? Somehow the shorter the treatment, the more bleeding in both comparisons: short vs. 12 mo and 12 mo vs. long. Why not chronologically by time treatment increase: short vs. 12 mo then 12 mo vs. long (but long vs. 12 mo)? I would also check how long is "long"?
