- Cardo Scala Rider G9x Headset Review www.revzilla.co... At the polar opposite of the scale from the Cardo Qz (which we've also reviewed) we have the Cardo G9x, which allows for 9 riders to connect simultaneously through intercom. An update for the G9, the G9x now allows for music sharing between rider and passenger. The intercom range is up to 1 mile, and the battery is good for 13 hours of talk time. The G9x is coming with two microphones to choose from, a wired mic which is great for full-face helmets, and a hybrid boom mic for modular helmets. The Powerset comes with everything you need to outfit two helmets, and the G9x is the perfect companion for those riding in large packs.
Really dig the new music sharing feature; now my fiance can push her tunes into my lid!
Full quality stereo sound...unfortunately that's debatable. I think the sound is crap. It's even crapier when you plug your own, good quality headphones (the hissing and all this high frequency noise is very apparent and quite irritating). For me, not usable for music listening...
I would KILL to see a video of how to actually use it! I've spent a couple hours with the Powerset I just bought, first motorcycle comm unit I've ever tried, and I could not be more baffled. They were evidently NOT paired out of the box, unless the firmware update reset them to a factory default or something. At one point one unit would just keep making the "new hardware/hardware disconnected" beeps over and over and over again when plugged into computer. Are there any videos of actually using it?

hello I bought this set recently and I don't seem to figure out how to share the music at the same time with the passenger??it worked once and it kept cutting and then I could not figure out how it should work...please advise with easy step to step guidethank you.
In order to share music with your passenger, your unit [SENDER] must be paired to the other unit [RECEIVER] on CHANNEL A, and the RECEIVER must be in standby mode. To start/stop sharing your music, press the B button for 2 seconds during music playback. Remember that you cannot share music while holding an intercom conversation. -DrewZilla
Is all future tech going to the PackTalk and SmartPack? Would you say Cardo is leaving this model behind?
The G9x was only a slight update over the previous G9, which was also only a slight update over the G4, so it's had a pretty long life as far as electronics are concerned. The G9x is now on closeout, which means once it's gone, it's gone. Cardo feels the Dynamic Mesh Connection technology is the future, so the focus is on the PackTalk and the SmartPack. It appears Sena feels the same, as they just announced their new top-of-the-line 30K with "Adaptive Mesh-Networking." -DrewZilla

How is the fit on the Shoei RF-1200 Helmet? I'm seeing "fits good" and "doesn't fit" comments across the internet...

having problems sharing music with a2dp mp3 player, setting it as per booklet then trying to share by holding B for 2 seconds, other person then hears for 1 second the music then it goes off?

i have not updated anything it is a brand new product, further testing incude a static noise coming from 1 of the units headset and also randomly disconcets from both ears working to just 1 side 9 mono) working. do i need to do a firmware upgrade or do i contact my local shop and report them as been faulty, £370 for a sub standard product seems a bit much dont ya think.

hi, will this pair with other bluetooth communicators? like the SENA SMH10R or other Cardo/Sena communicators?
edgar5001 The G9x will pair with other Cardo units as well as the Schuberth SRC system, but Cardo does not have universal pairing. Now the Sena SMH10R does have universal pairing, so the G9x and SMH10R can be paired. However, the useable range will be reduced. For optimum range, it's best to use Sena with Sena, Cardo with Cardo, etc. -DrewZilla
Is anyone taking this review seriously? Two points to consider...
one, the review does a terrible job at describing how to operate the device. Such as, switching from call to phone to intercom and/or the difficulty of doing so.
Two, a review of a product from the seller of said product is surely going to be biased. Revzilla isn't going post a bad/honest review of a product they're trying to sell.
Stick with reviews submitted from actual product consumers.
Can you pair two units of the G9x and also connect two Scala Q2 units together??

Does this unit have special hardware so I can attach it to my Schuberth S2? Such as VHB™ Tape like they use on the GoPro's.

MMT850 You must turn off VOX (voice activation). With VOX turned off, you'll need to press the intercom button to start an intercom, and the intercom will stay open until one of the intercom participants presses the intercom button to end the intercom conversation. -DrewZilla

I have a G9x. The coverings of the top three buttons have worn through. They still work, but I'm concerned about water getting in there. Cardo tells me they can't help with replacement parts because the model has been discontinued. This is not a problem unique to me. Other riders who have this unit have experienced the same problem. Any solution? (and please don't tell me to buy a new one).
In your opinion, do you prefer this one or the Sena 20S?
The Sena 20S has more features, so we generally prefer the 20S. If you need a fully waterproof communicator, consider the newer options from Cardo, the PackTalk and the SmartPack. -DrewZilla

I think that too, but i have seen that a bunch of people are having problems with the sena 20S. Either the radio fm stops working, or suddenly doesn't recognize mp3 and i saw that some people were already on the 3rd set of Sena intercom because when they get wet, they stop working. I am completely lost here and i don't know if this one (G9x) is more reliable.

Since the G9x does not have universal intercom, it's only possible if the other brand communicator has universal intercom to make the connection. -DrewZilla

Yes, you can pair it with the Q1 and G9, but keep in mind that when paired to the Q1, you're limited to the very short rider-to-passenger range of the Q1. -DrewZilla
