  • I love Sicilian Arancini what are they? Arancini are fried rice balls stuffed with tomato meat sauce with peas and mozzarella cheese inside. Nonna teaches you how to make them right from scratch the old Sicilian way. Have fun enjoy and buon appetito! #arancini #howtomake #santinosmangiamangia #italianfood #sicilianfood #riceballs

I am very sorry to tell you this, but that is not saffron, it is safflower, which is often used as a substitute. They get away with selling it as "Saffron" because there are no standards for what can be called "Saffron" on a package in most countries. As long as they add a tiny pinch of saffron leavings swept up from the grading floor stations to a bag of safflower pistils then legally they can call the contents "Saffron." It all comes down to the laws of the country that produces it and the country that consumes it, and we have none in America. It's like how Americans call sparkling wine "Champagne," even though France makes that a crime.
If you want truly great saffron, I get mine from Afghanistan by way of Iran. Iran still has the finest saffron grading laboratory on earth, and the women who run it are genuine experts.
