  • After owning the Beoplay EQ for a few weeks and having previously owned all of the models of the Beoplay wireless earphones, here is my verdict.

    I use large size Comply foam tips with the EQ and they fit very snugly in my ear canals and do not move at all. I use the EQ at the gym and even while playing racquetball and I do not worry at all about the earbuds falling out. With the tight seal in my ears with the foam ear tips and with the ANC activated, it's very close to the Sony WF-1000XM4 which I had and have now passed onto one of my sons. I can now use the EQ in the noisy gym with almost total noise isolation/cancellation, even inside the racquetball court where the bouncing ball can get deafening loud.
    I agree that the touch controls can be somewhat annoying but I always have the EQ set to full ANC mode so I'd rarely ever cycle through the different modes. The volume control is also touchy and difficult to make fine adjustments to get the level just right. It also needs the track skip/back control and I really hope B&O gets this feature added soon.
    I have not tried the Beoplay E8 Sport but I'm very happy with the EQ. I need the ANC, which is the second most important criteria after the sound quality. The EQ's ANC performance with the tight seal using foam ear tips is very good - not quite as good as the Sony (or the Bose, which is rated the best) but more than good enough for me. During a flight, I'd use the H95.
    For me, the EQ is endgame. The sound quality is sublime, the ANC is very good and enough for my usage cases, the battery life is reasonable if not great like on the Sony or the M&D MW08 Sport I used to have, and call quality is also good compared to others I have tried although I rarely use earbuds to make phone calls. I have come to like the B&O app's EQ function although I didn't like it at first as I'm used to using normal 5-band (or more) graphic equalizers.
    The touch controls can be annoying but they are not something I'd use very often. For me, it's about setting it at where I like thing and then just listening to the music without noise getting in the way. I compared the EQ to the Sennheiser MTW2, the Sony XM4 and the M&D and, for me, the EQ was the clear winner and I have now given others away to family/relative members. I only need the EQ. The others had better functionality but, *for me*, the sound and ANC matter the most and everything else is secondary. My only wish from B&O is to add the track skip/back touch control function (and make other refinements if they can).

    The recent firmware update make these sooo much more enjoyable. The sound is just AMAZING, these sound better than any true wireless earbuds I’ve owned, Sony, Bose, MW08, Soundcore pro 3,.

    Thanks for this very informative video. I really want to like the E8 Motion but i've heard its dependent on the right earbud, meaning you can't wear the left independently. Is it true until now or they've update the issue already? Thanks

    the functions you described is very similar than they are with my Jabra ones. I would really like to see a comparison from your experiance with e.g. the jabra active 75h which I bought few months ago and like very much. The jabra app works wonderfully and they even did a listening test with the headphones which was very surprising for me. Regarding sound quality I cannot say too much as I dont have that much of an comparison. They might not be as good B&O but good enough for me so far. The base however I like more than on the bose in-ear (with cable) I had before. In summary it was a very surprising bought for around 180 EUR.

    I use the E8 3rd gen and the quality is great as well. Great brand. All my earphones and speakers are from the B&O brand and even though they’re expensive I enjoy their products very much. There has been a few issues but it’s easy to figure out just by going to their website there’s a list of common issues and solutions. B&O is an excellent choice for me but might not be for you since it’s all personal preference. Before buying, it’s really important to walk in a store and try them out yourself.

    Another very useful video. Fit is most important for me. I have large ears and AirPods etc simply fall out. I have first generation Sennheiser TW which twist backwards to “lock” into ear. B&O E8s look very similar. It looks like you have to twist EQ forward to fit, with flanged part staying outside ear, which looks slightly less secure.

    • @Gun828
      @Gun828 Před 2 lety

      Which ones sound better? The 1st generation sennheiser momentum or the B&O's

    • @DavidSmith-uk5ci
      @DavidSmith-uk5ci Před 2 lety

      @@Gun828 The B&Os sound better to my ears, the soundstage is a bit more open and the bass is deeper. Also there was no ANC on the 1st gen Sennheisers. The Sennheisers fitted much more securely in my ears though. I have just got the B&O EXs which are a great improvement. If I had not been happy with these I would have returned them and got the new 3rd gen Sennheisers. Fortunately there is no need for that. A small issue to note with Sennheisers is that the case is fabric-covered and the lighter colour picks up marks easily. Also the hinge is not very robust. After a year I opened the lid and it came off. The B&O case is much nicer but may be prone to scratches if not handled carefully.

    • @soulman7378

    This is an absolutely fantastic review. I chose E8 sport headphones recently through a work reward scheme, I actually didn't have to pay for them. So glad I made the right choice, they're awesome. I liked that B&O had included the different size rubber tips and fins but I definately prefer the con formal foam tips the best. I went on to B&O's site to see if they sell spares, which they do (£20 for two pairs). I noticed they actually offer the conformal tips in different sizes also. The ones that came with my E8 sports were the medium but you can also get small or large. If you buy one size you get 2 pairs for £20, however there is an all option which gives 1 pair each of all 3 sizes for £20

    I would buy the Beoplay eq in a heartbeat if pausing playback (with ANC already on) would automatically turn on the Transparent mode and then resuming playback would automatically turn on ANC. As it is, there are way too many double-taps for each of these tasks; 2 double-taps to pause and turn on transparent and 4 double taps (!!!) to resume and turn on ANC. Please, B&O, update the firmware to enable this and I'll gladly fork over my $400! BTW, I, too, wrote to B&O regarding this and they confirmed that the way I described it is the way they work but did not offer to fix the issue.

  • @jeffreyallanrich
    @jeffreyallanrich Před 2 lety

    The ANC toggle in the app isn't for ANC on/off, it is for Adaptive ANC which uses algorithms to auto-adjust the ANC (when on) based on the environment.
