    Plus, as for error #4 - I've had a yoga teacher tell me before that my knees should be higher, while it was way easier for me to try closer to my elbows. Good to know that my intuitive movement was not "wrong"! 💙

    • @soclose2her
      @soclose2her Před rokem

      I had a teacher tell me the same thing! I was balancing effortlessly and forever, then I went to a retreat where the instructor told me to get my knees up my arms (instead of on top of my elbows) and as close to my armpits as possible. I couldn’t find my balancing point after that, and it was so much harder to hold 😩

    I learnt crow with the knees way up the triceps. I could do it but I hated it because it was kind of painful to have the knees pushing down on the muscle that's supposed to do much of the work.
    Then I found out i could just have the knees rest on the elbows. A game changer! It's so much easier and i can actually concentrate on the breath this way.

    Fantastic video! I more or less managed to nail the crow technique, although I can't hold it for as long as I'd like to yet and now trying to learn crane... looking forward was definitely a game changer. My main issue, though, is knees sliding off the arms due to sweat... I get insanely sweaty and it's super annoying 😑😑

    I was a yoga practitioner for over 10 years until it became my downfall and I suffer injuries including frozen shoulder. Even today I notice yoga practices aren’t as safe as recommended (or yoga teachers do not learn the importance of mobility and the human body). Yoga itself was purely for men to do to limber the body for meditation and not for the way it is used today without the education behind the human body. Liv is only teacher one besides youtube channels such as flow motion fitness and human 2.0 channels that explores the physical body. I have learnt more with the channels above (including having control over my arthritis again) than any yoga teacher gives.
    All yoga teachers and practitioners would benefit from anatomy and mobility hence why I follow you Liv. It is so important in order for people to not get injured.
    For all beginners and more advanced yogis alike most of the famous Yoga teachers have suffered injuries and/or had surgeries for joints and ligament tears.
    I don’t practice yoga now as use kettlebells for core stability and mobility workouts but always check out Liv’s channel for extras that I find important for me. I have recommended your channel Liv to many. Thankyou

    I am impressed with the quality of your videos.
    Since I have no experience with yoga I have a question:
    What is your most beneficial stretching/mobility video for a gymnast?
    I am 25 years old and started gymnastics a couple months ago. I have a good overall fitness but tend to be the skinnier type of guy. My static range is kinda ok I guess, but my dynamic range is not. I am looking for a full body routine. I am willing to invest 45 minutes every morning since I enjoy the feeling of stretching.
    I hope you can point me in the right direction, thank you😊

    Crow is my nemesis (but I can easily do side crow and EPK2 !) bc I ' m fearing of face planting (I tried the cushion technique, didn't help enough), and I never know how wide my hands should be from each other. I will replay this vid again and again when I'm on the mat. Thank you Liv !!

      Also: go ahead and TIP FOREWORD on to that cushion or rolled blanket 2 or 3 times. You will see that the top of your forehead gently touches the ground (usually) and you learn “it’s no big deal” and there is no “face plant”. That’s how I eliminated my fear and now can balance.

    • @karinekmk9293
      @karinekmk9293 Před rokem

      @@Jazz-and-Coffee I tried again crow since Liv released this video ; I'm terribly afraid of face plant and can't keep my feet lifted more than 2-3 seconds🤐 I can do side crow without problem (my ear almost touches the floor), same for EPK1 and EPK2 and my face is also very close to the floor but it doesn't bother me (I'm also working on falling angel), but regular crow remains a mystery🤔

  • @GrnXnham
    @GrnXnham Před rokem

    Been doing yoga for 3 years now (I'm 53) and the arm balances are my favorite. IMHO, the EASIEST arm balance is not crow, it's SIDE crow. A shoulder stand is easier than side crow but I'm not sure that I would classify a shoulder stand as an arm balance.
    Side crow was the first arm balance that I mastered. It took me longer to master crow. I think this is because resting your thigh and hip on the back of your arms is a more solid foundation than resting your knees on the backs of your arms. IOW, there is less of a chance of slippage with side crow.
    With crow, I used to place my knees just above my elbows. But when I advanced to one legged (flying) crow, I found that to be too painful and I now move my knees closer to my armpits for more comfort.

    • @Laura-of6ji
      @Laura-of6ji Před rokem
