In a perfect world a new football game would be released every 3 or 4 years. They could very easily have downloadable updates at the start of every season. This would give the developers time to actually improve their game, instead of shoveling off the same product with minor tweaks. However that’s just how modern sports games are seen as just a product.
I wished it was done different, a free game with updates would be much better!

PES was on the right track with this from PES20 to PES2021 season update, then they threw it all away by becoming efootball. If they continued on from PES2021, they really could’ve possibly dethroned fifa

I once had a mate who packed a Ronaldo. He had a picture of it and still none of us believed he actually did. I remember losing it when I got Lukaku back in his Everton days.
I wrote this as a university essay. Got my degree in Sports Communications. It’s been 3 years since I graduated and nothings changed, could even say things are worse now. Genuinely makes me sad that I had to buy a PS3 and play some of the older games just to have a fun experience.
As a person who grew up on offline sports gaming, I’m fully on the same page as Vizeh here. I don’t know if we’re just the dying breed now though. When I was a kid, my options for entertainment were TV, go outside, or play video games. I’d spend 9-5 on my Play Station in the summer. Career Mode felt like a project. I don’t think kids have that experience anymore.
Media is so over saturated, FIFA are no longer just competing with PES. They are competing with CZcams, TikTok, and Netflix too. Kids aren’t playing for a project anymore. Instead, flashy promos might just be the only way to snatch a little bit more of playtime from them. Because of that, I don’t see a way back for these career mode style offline games.

The emphasis on delivering a quality gaming experience has been split into two - now we see that profits are the main driving force behind a companies investment into a game franchise - and as a result the quality gaming experience is not at the front of their minds - explaining much of the poor quality that we see nowadays
With young people using social media MUCH more, one could say that this change was inevitable, that is a shift towards online games that do not require as much effort put into riveting campaigns and gameplay, but more on using exploiting the human psyche (lootboxes, FOMO) so that these people (mostly young) keep playing: essentially, their own in game experiences do not fully determine whether they play, rather because it is THE GAME to play and such
Because of this, I don't think that things will be the same; the gaming industry has matured, and so like I have said the focus is on profit - gone are the days where the small and passionate development team would work tirelessly to provide you with your beautifully thought out masterpiece
Indie games are the only ones that carry this legacy...
I feel you dude. Back in my college stoner days, me and a friend constantly had a FIFA dynasty going, where we would play on the same team, and argue about transfers and strategy.
Yepp. I loved career mode. So much fun. I play fm now. Sure, I don’t get to play as the players, but the game has depth and is truly rewarding. It’s sooooo much more rewarding winning a cup after a long season of managing EVERYTHING. Lol.

The biggest problem for me is they’ve turned the game into a competitive mentality. Everything gameplay wise is competitive because of the design of it.
First it was FUT Champs - which was great at the start. Then Div Rivals - which was alright. But the implementation of these modes means people focus on META. Not fun. META.
“Who’s the best player I should use?” “Is this player a W or L?”
All fun has been discarded and people have been pushed into focusing on the META players and tactics because of the game modes and gameplay. Noticed how Goals of The Week has just disappeared? You used to see so many cool goals scored, that made YOU wanna score them. Now? It’s just 71 depth, constant press for 90 mins, spamming tackles, run to the line cutback and griddy. It’s so robotic. No one plays the game to score goals and have fun. It’s about who can be the biggest RAT to get the win at the expense of experience. The state of gameplay and gameplay modes have turned this game toxic.

Being good at FC 24 and being good at Ultimate Teams are two very different things.
Ea FC has also ruined kickoff mode with a brief little show instead of a full squad and stadium showcase that made you feel like you were watching it on TV. That feeling was epic watching through the whole cutscene but now it's just a pissy little stadium/rival preview
Worst money I’ve ever spent tbh purely for the reason you mentioned. The immersion is gone. I’ve brought a series x and got fifa 14-20 and I’m just playing them forever more now 😅
I only have fifa 18, and some friends of mine have fifa 16, we both agree that there isnt much new in the newer games. They should realease them every world cup, and that would cause way more hype, and update the game as the years go by

Last FIFA I bought was 21, and it’s incredibly sad that even 3-4 years later, there aren’t enough changes/updates to the new game to justify buying it. for 70$ mind you..
It’s just all these companies that used to make games because they were passionate about the product, they all simply deviated towards being passionate about the money instead, this plague hit FIFA among most other games.
It’s almost as if the wrong people got involved in the production process of our hobbies and passions.
Do you remember being genuinely excited for an upcoming release? Because I barely do. GTA 6 will be the first one in a while, but we all saw people’s reactions when they saw it’s coming in 2 years lol.

If you or anyone have any desire to buy the game, wait until near the first week of December. The game is always half off or more, I bought fc for $21 two months after the majority had spent $100. I do play ultimate team but my favorite has always been pro clubs, which is why I buy the game every year. Its definitely more reasonable then 70 or 100 dollars.

I think the problem is the oversaturated content back in fifa 17 for example you would only have about 10 promos but there’s a huge amount of players to use but these days there’s 20 promos with only a few good cards.I mean remember bronze beast or smalling butland and Bailly they were gold cards but still cooked all the way to July you just don’t get that feeling anymore

Exactly. Even in fifa 19 I don't remember having that much special cards before the TOTS, which if it was like this I wouldn't mind that much, because at least the crazy cards would appear mostly near the end of the game cycle
@@bolttesyes same I have an 89 squad with no purchases. And everyone gets a 97+ squad for June and July which is when it gets silly. We are in December and I have Van Nistelrooy in GOAL. Everyone will have a squad of 11 95+ players all in their opposite positions. I am paying 70 quid to end up with a stupid unrealistic squad of players I don’t like
i replayed FIFA 17 , that game has one of the best gameplay mechanics , players didnt ice skate like the are doing now, in fifa 17 if you stopped a player from running he would stop, if you turned he would turn , nowadays they ice skate out of the pitch, and the graphics since fifa 21 they are just changing colour shaders
We had one of the greatest intros ever in a video game with FIFA 06. So many of us would find ourselves refusing to skip it, instead just enjoying the moment and embracing the excitement that we were about to dive into. Nowadays, we have custom mask, silly hairstyles, and even a snowman suit we can add to our avatar. The beautiful game we love doesn't feel the same anymore

@@Mnu103 its not "Like" a money simulator. It is one. Realised before i bought EAFC that the only thing i was hyped for was the double walkout ( even tho they added new skills evos etc etc). The gameplay is secondary. Its just there for the purpose of getting you addicted to gambling. The rewards you get are used to gamble even further. I havent spent money on fifa since 2016...and I felt at that moment that I had a problem with gambling addiction... I didn't like the game, i just played for rewards! Wont be buying another one for a while, efootball is better!

Bought fc24 for 20 quid the other week, have a career mode started at espanyol now moved on to bayern, legendary pisses me off but im having a good time so far, shame there are no proper competitors (like master league in pes) for career mode at the moment though. (I do play FM but i think most people agree that FM and Career mode are completely different)
Career mode I wish they did more as the presentation is great but everything else is just not the level it should be
@Vizeh, for sure. Some people say that for EA to actually pay attention to it and make it one of the focal points in future games, there is a need for there to be a proper rival, Master League has an opportunity to be one but Konami aren't working on it from what it looks like and the lack of licenses is another point too. I do think FM25 could pull some people in with the new graphics engine though.

Part of the reason I don’t buy the newest game is because I play primarily manager career mode.
I remember the options to pick up sponsors at the beginning of the season, or the option to use xp to purchase youth scouts or get extra money from the owner of the club. But slowly over time EA has removed these small but memorable details and I feel like career mode has gotten less interactive. 😢
All you do is change training intensity which I hate doing.
I bought EAFC24 after not buying a new game since FIFA19 and my main takeaway is that the defending is incredibly difficult, nearly impossible.
And you don’t even have to understand football or tactics to be a good player,you just need to know how to exploit mechanics
Attacking is worse if you like playing a passing or a slow build-up game. The possibility of supplying from midfield to the striker is almost non-existent now unless you set the "tactics" right. I hate how the game disrespects the instructions I pass through my controller and prefers the settings.
Defense is broken in FC 24, they're destroying "tactical defending" every year. You can't defend basically..
I just wish there was a more casual online gamemode that’s not super sweaty so I can test new cards/tactics or things that aren’t meta so I can still use and enjoy every card

@@dazz1427nah, your friendlies opponents are also based on your rivals rank, so chances are if you’re facing sweats in rivals, you’ll be facing similar sweats in friendlies, honestly friendlies can even get more sweaty than rivals, especially if there’s objectives

The problem is that we always complain about the same things but they cover it up with small things like “double walkouts” which no one asked for. We just want good and consistent gameplay. I’m starting to question why I play because all I ever do is move around in the menus to try and get good players but then I get so frustrated when I’m playing the game, even when I win.

The first FIFA I truly played was FIFA 13 and don't get me wrong I still play eafc 24, but during the old days you were able to make any teams and beat opponents. Where as nowadays you have to use the meta players to compete which is awful. The reasoning to why this is bad is because unless you have the meta players you cannot compete. I remember the days where you were able to use bronze cards and silver cards, hell even non rare cold cards and still dominate people. That's what made FIFA fun. However now like you said Liam it's just about money nowadays which is ashame.
I picked up EAFC 24 about a month ago, and the last FIFA I played was 14. I made the Paris FC women's team on Ultimate Team as it's a team that I like, and yeah, you're absolutely correct. Their team consists of low-rated gold players and silver players except for Julie Dufour who is a Road To The Knockouts special card. I did pretty good with them until division 8 and at that point it just felt like the game was punishing me for wanting to use a team that I want to use.
As a returning player after 10 years, I can see many improvements, but there are so many things I hate.
Putting my Sunday League team in the 4th division and then winning the Champions League by the end is the best feeling I've had playing FIFA.
One feature I really remember was from the 2006/7 Champions League game. The game mode would have you play or start a historical champions league game, and you had certain objectives to complete to get the top score. The game could throw you into a match in the 78th minute and you're 3-1 down, it was really enjoyable and if i remember correctly they had different categories for difficulty, so you had a set of games for amateur difficulty, Semi-pro, professional etc.
I'm pretty sure one of the challenges was the 2005 Champions League final where you had to repeat Liverpool's come back and I believe there was another option to play as Milan, where you have to come back against Liverpool
That feature already existed in International Superstar Soccer Deluxe for the SNES so it's hardly even original

I grew up in Poland, so when u asked to name bunch of Football / Soccer games, I had about 15 in my head, with 8 or 9 of them possible never being released in countries other than Poland, Russia, and Germany. At least I think, i have been trying to find some of them for years.

I still remember that anyone would be buzzing about packing an inform became not only they were usable and feel good to play. There was also less promos than the abundance of cash grab promos we have.
I play fc 24 more than fifa 23 mainly becuase there is new kits and new animations also the graphics look nice. One thing i think would be nice is if they added retro kits from the 90s or 00s.

I actually played The Journey in fifa 19, and although I was disappointed by the way things went in 18 and 19, there were two things I actually liked there:
-Playing as Danny Williams was quite enjoyable, as it felt a bit like doing what you thought you would do with Alex Hunter.
-When you started the mode, they would start remembering your grandfather 100th goal, so you would play like 20-30 minutes of a 1960's match, with the old style kits, terrible pitch and even the grafics were different. Not a big deal, but still a nice touch. His team would also be the team you chose as the team you supported in fifa 17 (unless you chose a team that wasn't in the league on the season the goal was supposed to happen).
Also on fifa 17 if you decided to sign for the team you support, your grandfather would say in the cutscene how happy he was that you signed for the same team that he played, which made the whole forced transfer to Real Madrid and going to the MLS part of the story even worse for me.
The one thing that ruins it for me is credit card teams… you should just be matched based on amount spent because it’s so annoying when you’ve grinded a decent team then you just come up against someone who’s spent 1000’s they don’t even have to be much better than you just 1% and they’ll win simply because they’ve got overpowered icons.
The special cards are just so boring for me now, I’d rather a seperate game mode where you can only use normal cards and also one for men’s only cards because this fifa has been ruined by women, packs should be separated by women’s players and men’s players and they should each have seperate match making because the women’s stats are based upon the women’s game and they’re so overpowered it’s a joke coming up against Sam Kerr with VVD and she just holds him off like he’s not an absolute unit.
I know it’s petty, but when I play a team with the overpowered woman’s cards, I just scud them up in the air constantly. Should definitely be different game modes.

I think that the yearly cycle makes it really redundant. I remember in 2019 me and a couple of guys at school were talking about games and FIFA came up. One guy was like “Why buy FIFA, Madden or 2K if they’re just gonna release a new one every year. Just a waste of money.” While I agree with his, I think there are certain aspects to this scenario. Money. And I guess if fans want an update squad, they have to go through a huge process to reintegrated new players into the game which may make fans update the game. Again money plays a big part. Why update the current game when we can make a new one and people will buy it.

Problem is if they started making them every 5 years for example, I think we’d get even less features than we would over 5 games. Yeah it’s more expensive for 5 games but it means EA have to add new stuff every game
EASFC was designed to focus on the Vision of the game, you go into a game and go whoa, this looks so realistic, you kick off for the first time and you go whoa this is so realistic, you then play a pass and then go oh no something is wrong, you then take an easy shot and miss and you think wtf was that and then your opponent shoots from an impossible angle and they score? Wait they did, how tf did he do that? Wait they Fucked up the gameplay oh noooooo
I used to play clubs with friends basically nightly from fifa 09-16. With each year since , it felt they cared less and less about clubs with each year after. I also played career mode extensively from 11-20 and agree with you on feature removal. I have not bought a fifa since fifa 20.

I played ten minutes of the trial and understood that this still was not worth purchasing. Hopefully they can see those who do not even engage with the 10 hour free trial little own progress through to the 60% discount on offer.

Ultimate team killed fifa. I remember back in the days I had to work my ass off just to buy a felipe anderson tots and I was so happy when I did. Nowadays it's effortless building a team, what I liked about ultimate team was the fact that even if you didn't spent money on the game you could build a strong team with players 75/80 overall but that you liked. You had to do it step by step and it felt earned and you could still compete at a certain level. Last thing the unique cards have became all the same the only difference is the color, I wouldn't be surprised if someday they make a "hair style of the year" card with +20 in headers. Every game in division 4 this fifa is eusebio, mbappe, gullit or Zidane, can dijk, maldini etc.. I mean literally 75% of games is that team. I usually make some version of a Colombian/Bayern hybrid sometimes it's like serie a too, and it's so annoying this year cause previous years I was a 17-3 player in WL and elite-div 2 depending on how much I played, but the script this year makes it unbearable. Literally your team doesn't matter. No skill involved, no players are good, it's just pure script every fking game.. most wins I've got this fifa in WL 13 which is awful for me
I miss the older scenario/challenge modes, something simple, not even a full match but it was so satisfying to complete them.
The catalogue too, That just added a little something else into the game.
I haven't even bought the game this year, I'll download it when it inevitably comes to EA/Game pass. Which in and of itself seems to be earlier each year and it still feels like you have it for half the life cycle of the full price game. If you've dropped £70 on the game at release that has to be annoying. (and lets not get started on Black Friday and holiday sales)
The game has long since lost it's soul, Career mode can be so much more, Games like Championship manager could track player stats in the 90's, Fifa/EA still can't or rather won't.
I remember hooking on FIFA back in 2005-2006 and i played the crap out of the World Cup 2006 and Euro 2008 . Unlocking kits , modes , WC 2006 had some stuff like invisible walls over the lines , 6th difficulty and a few different cute things.
Lot of love for the production on this video it was explained perfectly lads aged 20-30 will understand the loss of FIFA was probably played more than any other game if you liked Football and had an Xbox or PS3 from 2012-2014
The most ridiculous feature is the possibility to sign young free agents with 90+ rating after one or two years in your manager career. It doesn't matter what club you are, you can sign them. It is insane how they simply make this game mode a joke. You have to hold yourself to make it realistic. There is no other big game where you need this urge to hold back yourself or otherwise you'll be too good and is no fun playing. It is ridiculous.
I remember when having an icon/legend in your ultimate team squad felt special, now there's icon packs and stuff out there's nothing special about it unless you pack one of the big boys like Pele or R9.
Yes, it’s insanity that they are releasing “decent” sbcs of icons in October. And because of the packs people pay to get the cards for these sbcs. The promo packs are opened and then straight into the icon sbc. It’s not fair people can do that

Its just stupid now. Playing online is pointless because everyone has icons and special cards, and if you dont, you're done. Also, a promo every week is absolutely ridiculous. Remember when EA did a promo once in a while and you actually got excited? Futmas, scream cards and Black friday, etc, now, you don't really care anymore, plus the number of special icons is ridiculous, and most of them are pointless and don't make sense.

I've sadly left FIFA behind for returning to FM. I've taken the time to significantly mod the game to turn it into a more official licensed game and the work is worth it in the end. I feel like I'm not taken for granted as a player of a game and really can enjoy my time on the game as opposed to copy and paste ways of FIFA Career Mode since the mid 2010s

Speaking of 2k myplayer and 2k overall, I remember trying out 2k18 and being mindblown by the presentation of their equivalent of career mode. 2k spends a lot of time on the small details, which makes the presentation impactful. They had things like pre match shows where they break down the team form, give their predictions, mention key players, etc. they’d also have halftime shows, player walk-ins and sponsors. Basically, 2k gives you exactly what you get on an actual game day, it blew my mind as someone that had only been invested in fifa. EA would never do that😅. It’s what motivated me to try out PES, which also isn’t as good in terms of presentation, but trumps fifa on gameplay. Only for them to become a glorified mobile game after PES21 season update, which IMO is the greatest football game of all time when considering gameplay. Now we literally only have this garbage to deal with :(

Many of the features you talked about that were in previous games, I didn’t even know existed, that’s crazy how different the games used to be and how much more care was put into them
I also love the analogy of non sports games gamers laughing at FIFA players for buying the same game every year, because that sentiment is absolutely true from my personal experiences, having friends who play and don’t play FIFA
For your point about the “meta” that’s a thing in pretty much every game played competitively, not just FIFA, some players just take it too seriously, doesn’t help that it’s P2W
EA knows they have the advantage here.
They are very much aware that the Market dosen't present any other option to a game as complete as the ones EA put out. It has led to them getting lazy and greedy because regardless of how bad the product is initially they know they will make bank out of it.
And with new people coming in every year they aren't scared to let go of a majority that dosen't want to play/buy the game. EA is very much aware of what they're doing and they don't care at all.
My love of fifa came from fifa 14 but fifa 16 I loved and I remember being a kid playing fifa 16 career and signing players like Raul de Thomas and Mikytarian and for every Christmas I used to get fifa but since fifa 19 all the games have felt the same and it’s sad to see such a great feature slowly be forgotten and will eventually be replace with ultimate team
Microtransaction is ruining many games including this. There is reason why elden ring and baldur's gate are the best game of the past two years. But i understand that EA made much more money with microtransaction

I remember long ago in ultimate team I would play with a full polish team. Had a bronze inform 2 gold informs a rare gold and the rest silver and it was so fun. Nowadays playing with a squad like that is only possible if you're a pro player
Ultimate Team killed the game, it killed it dead.
Fifa 15 was amazing. I had so many fun teams (South Korean, shortest, tallest etc.). Main team had silver Armero and silver Abate at full backs and rest of the team was IF's or TOTS with Ibarbo. Where i found Perrins TOTS better than Buffons. Ahhh... the fun times.
Too many promos has ruined this and rare cards arent so special anymore. And it always seems to be the same players getting the promos
I still play fifa 14 on ps4. The gameplay is so much more fun and realistic and career modes are so rewarding.
My last FIFA was FIFA 21, and then FIFA 22 came out as a PlayStation Plus free monthly game 6 months after release, which was crazy in itself. After hearing about the change to chemistry in FIFA 23 UT, I just stopped playing FIFA and stuck with FIFA 22, but I only played career mode anyway. My first FIFA was FIFA 08 too
I haven’t played FUT for a few years now and if I fancy a game online, I play online seasons. Even when I lose, it’s a completely different feeling to UT as I’ve lost to someone who is better than me at FIFA, rather than because I’m playing against someone who has a fully shiny, colourful team of 90+ ratings and a 98 rated flashback Steve Sidwell for fuck knows what reason.
That’s not true at all. Everyone online just uses Real Madrid and spams bs skill moves or just sprints either their 96 paces strikers and without having any skill can be competitive. These exact same play styles were getting rotated in FIFA 13 and the games before that. Now they’re effective. It’s the same thing in online seasons as it is in FUT.

@@tristanenever549 I choose 4 and 4.5 star teams all the time and get matched with Madrid 90% of the time still. Quitting is an option but it takes like 10 games to finally get an even matchup since every scrub online isn’t good enough to play with Real Madrid or some other pace heavy 5 star team.
I played every fifa since 2003, the most fun i had were on games where i never touched Ultimate team which wasnt until 2017. I mean i did a little on the previous ones but not consistently. 17-21 were enjoyable and i played the most ultimate team but then these random ass promos every week where they put 2 different teams so you have to open more to get one of those players. Last 3 i just play on and off, the only thing bringing me to EAFC is the Evos
I really miss the freedom that you used to get in the older FIFA's. The customized goal chants allowed me to add "Seven Nations Army" remixes to Bayern goals. The Creation Center allowed me to download Heskey XI to play in a joke match with my friend. The goal theater allowed me manually goals I liked. Those features are long gone.
They should add a career mode feature where you can create a new kit for the club your managing in between seasons
I only play FIFA for player career mode. I think it peaked with "The Journey" trilogy in 17-19. Loved the linear story mode with the different branching choices. That to me, needs to come back. We need to be able to have those storylines and choices, give us a choice to have a strike partner or sign with a certain club. Let us choose which shoes to sign with and build a brand, etc. let us represent the national team at the WC, etc.
Give us a season wrap up highlight show, give us a preview show before every season that recaps and shows where teams are. Maybe they can license the CBS team (Cate, Thierry and those guys) for the champions league preview show (similar to nba 2K with the tnt crew.)
I just want care and love put back into non-online single player sports modes.
That is one thing i do miss.

They’ve taken the skill out of the game. That’s really what sums up current FIFA titles honestly starting at FIFA 13 when they introduced “bad touches”.
FIFA 12 was the last of the true skill gap EA football titles.
I only bought EAFC 24 for my Switch because it was the first game that EA actually put into most of the features of the game into the Switch version instead of making another Legacy Edition. If that didn’t happen, I wouldn't have considered buying it all

Two main issues imo that plague this game are bad gameplay and pay to win. The rest are annoying but can be ignored.
I have many gripes with the modern FIFA/EAFC titles but I think that the biggest problem that this game franchise has is that it’s losing its identity. FIFA was always very arcade like in its gameplay, you could just jump in and play and have fun but now they are constantly trying to go hyper realistic and implement new manager tactics systems etc... the gameplay just isn’t fun anymore and the idea of playing the game is more exciting than actually playing it. I’ll play for two or three games and regardless of whether I’m winning, playing well or not, I’ll be bored and want to stop after those three games. Also, I play career mode and the way that you have to play in order to beat legendary Ai is tedious and the difficulty is so inconsistent.
24:00 - pretty sure I played FIFA 17 career mode as solo player working hard for several seasons, eventually signing for Liverpool and called up to England squad only for the international tournament I could play to bug out. Took part in the end of season simulation but couldn't actively play. Looked online, common bug. No sign of update/fix due to new IRL season starting soon. Never played it again.

I literally only play seasons i refuse to pay more to play ... but i have stopped manager mode as it's been completely gutted all in a drive to force you to play ultimate team which i haven't played since the first version...
I want them to add classic teams in kickoff similar to nba2k. Playing with 2011 Barca, 2017 Madrid, 2002 Brazil would be awesome

I ve been playing fifa since fifa 11 and tbh one of main reasons i play fifa every year is the soundtrack as i enjoy them most years even this year artists like royal otis and one of my fav artist roosevelt got into the game this year.
I think the game just feels like a job when playing ultimate team. Times you need to complete objectives you think you have to compete because if you don’t get a card you’ll never get it again and may need it in the future. Don’t get excited over a pack, I packed an IF 78 Coleman back in one of the old fifas worth 15k and went crazy for it, now I packed an icon Michael Owen and was like meh, if I had have packed that then I would’ve been over the absolute man. Too easy to get good cards and makes it boring, I play companion app more than game and got 250k and a 188 rated team, what do I have to improve or do anymore apart from collect cards. It’s like a match attax in a video game that takes up your whole life to even complete. Sadly will still play it however, just because it’s football and we all love football, that’s why it’ll never change
11:25 omg I miss the Catalogue! Funny thing is that was the one thing that would carry over to each game cycle with the points and they even got rid of that 💔 Just purely a year of frustration for people and then it resets. It all means nothing apart from maybe when you visit 5 years later and go "Oh I had that card...cool."
I have several questions:
1. In Manager Career mode, when we simulate the match, are we still stuck with 2D table-top view (FM style) or now we can actually watch the match live like PES's Master League mode? I like their manager career mode, their youth development is much more complex than PES. But it is kinda tiring to play each game while also boring to watch 2D view when we simulating it to be COM vs COM.
2. In Player Career mode, do we still can't specify which team we want to try moving to (like PES's Become A Legend mode) and can only rely on random offers? Will we stuck with a single team that won't let us go no matter what if we're one of those important players because it is so damn hard to get the approval of having us to be transfer listed?
3. Is the chance to become a captain still so random unless you're over 25?
4. Are we still limited to 10 & 15 years on both modes respectively?
5. Is it worth it if Careed modes are the only things I want to play? I have never cared about online stuffs.

I’d argue that you don’t actually NEED a yearly cycle with sports games, they could literally just update it to new ratings and transfers on a certain date, with the money fifa make, they don’t even need to sell a new game.
Bought EAFC 24 on sale for £20 and still feel robbed , its just full of sweaty players spamming the broken mechanics, either down the line or ball roll and shoot , lame AF .
FIFA should do what NBA 2k does with classic teams. Imagine how fun that would be?
They should focus more on player and manager career mode. Not everyone wants to play online and not everyone can play online
your video encapsulates the ennui that I felt in recent FIFA cycles. I have been a Career Mode player all the way through (I find 3-4 small clubs and do road to glory saves every year) and every year in FIFA was a deeper and deeper disappointment. FIFA got boring quick for me - I was bored with my saves less than 2 seasons in and I disliked how increasingly restrictive and neglected Career Mode has become, and the disappointing Create A Club mode could not save the sinking ship.
I did not try Football Manager initially as the learning curve was steep and because I'm working, I did not have time to learn the game. The pandemic sealed the deal, however, and I moved on to FM permanently. I still miss playing matches and directly influencing the team with gameplay, yes, but the much better mechanics, interactions, deeper tactics (FIFA tactical instructions is pretty rubbish) and importantly the ability to mod files easily to increase immersion won me over for good.
It's unfortunately the case that the wider gaming industry is caring more and more about sales targets rather than passion and seeing their games as art and what they were supposed to be - means for entertainment and expression. Of course the bottomline is important but once a franchise feels more and more soul-less then...

I am glad I owned 3 different fifa games in 2019 : 08, 10, 13 purched 15 down the line aswell. For me the main issue is they bring back old features and market them as new like staff, that was in the game until fifa 11 create a club was also in the game for a while, on console barely a year but the psp and Nintendo had it til fifa 12.
24:10 mate this is why I love loans, I sent a 77 rated Koleosho out on loan cause my team was getting too good, ( 2 81+ rated LW's so it was obvious I wasnt gonna play him) within that one season as West ham, Koleosho went from 77 to 87...
imagine if they did something like an open world career mode.

I have played manager career, got fired 4 games out from winning the season as players I was going to sell at end of season were passed off, this was about 10 years into a tranmere save
great video, one thing i would like to mention tho, is that the playerbase is also incredibly toxic i remember last year (fifa 23) a lot of players complained about the fact that the game was too defensive minded (which it absolutely is there is no more skill gap since fifa 21 since you can just sit in your box with 8 players now which you couldnt do back in fifa 21 even with a 5 back you still had to defend manually) and EA tried to atleast patch it to an extend. now how does the same community respond to said patch? they start abusing 5 back formations and sit even deeper in their halfs.
also E-Sports can never be consistent in the game since your playing style basically has to change on a yearly basis due to new game releases causing the core game mechanics being different some years the changes are minor others the changes are massive
I'd like to add that I've actually often/always been playing with a 5 backs line because I just am not that good at defending and am mainly good at rapid counter attacking on the wings or slowly building up play and keeping the ball, like carrying/passing it into the empty goal. This was in FIFA 20, howwver, the last FIFA I played.
So, I always played Liverpool with 5 backs, not because I'm defensive minded but because otherwise I wouldn't have a chance against those crazy ballers who need to randomly shoot 25 times on the goal per match with Messi, Mbappe or CR7. I need a stable defense to get more control of the game through possession and the most rapid wingers to have a chance against insanely good players, and as I am really not that good at tackling I need that fifth player as an additional option to stop the opponent's attack. Although, I got to admit that this strategy worked terribly bad, when I tried it in FIFA 22 or 23 playing at a friend's House.

This is probably off topic but I also feel like with fifa and pes at war we don’t have a game that has a lot of leagues. For me I love the j league but haven’t been able to play it in years on fifa and also only had one league and one actual stadium when I did have it

For me, it‘s relatively easy to say.
Fifa is on a downhill spiral since 2017.
Older Fifa Games have the nostalgic factor.
The games were finished and not buggy, means they didn‘t had to be updated monthly.
The gameplay was smooth. Had cool new ideas. Ultimate Team was a casual mode, where u tried different players and tactics whilst don‘t have to log in daily.
And to add to the nostalgic part, older Fifa Games have higher stakes Players like Kaka, Maldini, Stam, etc.
One of the coolest Addition they ever implemented was on like Fifa 06 (I think it was the DS Version), when u played real life scenarios like Roy Maakays fastest CL Goal and they gave you an restriction like „You have 12 ingame-minutes to beat Spurs“ and you‘re losing 0-3

Ill say this. If you play this game for the UT you are destined for disappointment. Convert to Career mode my brothers. Playing once a week on your RTG is the most based way to play the game. Play the game, don't let it play you.
packed 96 Pele and was jumping around the room, 30 minutes later i did an icon sbc and got 91 Henry and was like damn... hes going on the bench like it wasnt my first time getting him first owner. The game is just a football version of the Pokemon TCG at a premium asf price
What's worse is that these games comes out buggy nowadays (like all other games), and with them being on an annual-cycle, a lot of bugs does not get fixed, gets fixed a little too late and, continues into the new game and heck, gets reintroduced even when they were already fixed.
Just have the game up this week, been playing since 98 (yes I’m old), but this weekend league, the game bugs out and robs me of my rank, I contact EA and they say it’s a playstation issue.

Played FIFA for years but because of this key issue of greed i switched to F1 only for it to be bought out by EA and instantly ruined by their greed essentilly forcing me to switch to WAY more expensive games/ simulators like Iracing and ACC because there was no point staying on F1

I tried to play career mode in fifa 23 and i just cant after some matches i just didnt came back to this save, after that i downloaded actual squads mod to FIFA 14 and i played 3 seasons in really short period of time. I totally dont know why its like that so maybe this film will be an answer
I bought it. Played 3 games. Deleted it. This game is gone to shit and I'm no longer wasting my money on it. Started in 2004. Played every game since. Rip 2024 😢

Unfortunately like with other yearly releases the community is what's wrong with EA FC.
If the community didn't spend something like $1.5 billion a year on gambling packs then maybe something could change but it unfortunately won't. Content creators complain about the game and then will open thousands of $$$ worth of packs.
Until the community stop spending money on the game it will never change.
Almost every video complaining about this game includes the quote "EA only care about what makes them the most money." Surely if you've already figured that out, it's not too much of a stretch to realise that they don't care about your opinion and they don't care about your video. You said it yourself, they *ONLY* care about your money. Stop giving them that and they'll start caring what you think.
After spending a year complaining about how bad EAFC24 is, who do you think will be first in the queue to buy EAFC25? You guess it! I suppose at least that gives them a topic for a juicy video next year where they can say "EAFC25 is crap! EA only care about what makes them the most money!"
With EA announcing recently they are finally letting their studios use unreal engine and not forcing Frostbite, I'm hoping it'll have some positive effect on their games 😞
