    I've watched a couple of your LED light reviews now and I myself just installed the "V16 Turbo led" kit on my car. They are in projector housings so the beam pattern is fine. However as I work primarily nights in my car I'm already willing to change back to halogens as the throw distance just isn't as good. They look *brighter* but in reality they are only *whiter* - which doesn't mean more like on the road.
    The old halogen bulbs have a central hot spot on the beam which I've come to realise is what gives you that long distance light right down the centre of the road which the LED's just don't produce as its more of an even spread which is ok on lighted roads but much worse on pitch black lanes.
    I'm going back to Osram Nightbreaker Unlimted bulbs, which are still amazing value here in the UK (£11.50 for a pair of H1 bulbs)
    I was never a fan of halogen bulbs but after driving the last 2 nights on this dim blueish light I am happy to switch back a yellowish halogen. It makes you come to appreciate the design of OEM applications. Yes I could upgrade to a HID bulb but I'm not willing to modify my headlight housing.
    Sorry about the long comment but just wanted to echo what you have said here. If you've got a halogen headlight set up, make sure its aimed correctly and there are plenty of suitable upgrade bulbs available. If you want a car with LED or HID headlights, make sure your next one comes as standard with them :).

      You didin't choose right bulbs, i just searched and saw what "V16 Turbo led" looks like, and they are junk. I changed 3 types until I found which are perfect. Third was perfect. You need to buy one with few little LEDs on it on a row, this with one big LED is so bad, they have terrible disposition of light so they doesn't work like it should to work.

    Very comprehensive and very informative. I have a 2009 vw Passat wagon with the comfort trim package which came with the projector beam headlights fitted with H7 halogen bulbs. One of the bulbs blew out last week and I am considering going with a set of LED H7 replacements because the standard H7 halogens are shockingly expensive for a quality bulb with decent output and bright white color I am looking for from Philips. After some searching for compatibility, I found a set on Ebay from a seller in California. I will be installing them tomorrow. I'll let you know how it goes.

      Hids are better in the projector bulb, I would suggest a color temp of 5000k-6000K

    Thanks for the review. I'm about to buy a 2017 Passat SE with the Tech Package and was curious to see how well the LED lighting works.

    Does that Passat still have the cornering light? Too bad if not,,,such a great light at night! Oh and do the lights move back and forth like the Bi-Xenon?

    The LED's in the Passat received a "poor" rating by the IIHS

      I read the same reviews by IIHS the 2017 and 2018 both got POOR rating, they have 4 levels GOOD, ACCEPTABLE, MARGINAL and POOR.

      Shen Qiao LED is bad in inclement weather as well. I see most people with LED’s using high beams in rain.

    LED conversions ironically become the reason you don’t like the car anymore lol

    What year is your Passat in the video?

    Hi, are those LED reflectors or projectors? I’ve read such bad review for Passat’s headlight by the IIHS but still want to verify how they perform in real world conditions.

      @andrewesquivel  Před 5 lety +1

      I would have to verify at first, but if I remember correctly it's not a reflector or a projector. The LEDs throw light directly down the road instead of using some sort of mechanism to assess its beam. It's its own proprietary system
