Our record against the big teams don’t show we carry fear. They know we’ll be a hard test game but have the records against us and in tournament wins and performances.

Foden and Rodrygo have a similar case they are good on the wing, but If you them in a more central area they will grow a lot.
They say Foden can play in many positions, yet when you ask them and why is he not delivering for England from the wings? They say, well he was playing more centrally in Man City. Wait What????
Foden works best when he is consistently getting touches and allowed to create from the middle. England leaves him on the wing and only expects him to go 1v1 which isn’t his best skillset. City play with midfielders inverting to the wings and centrally where as England doesn’t.
Foden can play on the wing but you’re limiting him and not using his full skillset on the wing. Jude got to Real Madrid playing as an 8 and now all of a sudden he can only play in the 10? Let Jude play the gundo box crashing 8 and rice play holding midfield with foden as a 10 creating

Saka can also play multiple positions, like Saka can play as a left back, that doesn`t mean though that he isn`t a way better right winger then he is a left back.

When Pep played Foden in the middle against Chelsea to accomedate Sterling on the wing, everyone was having this same debate but the opposite, saying Foden shouldve played on the wing instead of the middle.
It aint that deep, Fodens a wicked player, he can play either position, he just went missing that game.
To be honest I analysed how isolated he was in that game barely getting a touch on the ball

With stones pushing up or Trent pushing up from the lb side next to rice but rice need to sit a bit more which he didn’t do in the Brazil match but it made sense that he didn’t because Gallagher was meant to clean up but he got turned my Lucas paquata

On the Foden front, he should be playing in the CAM or RAM, with Jude playing in the 8 (box to box), and Rice holding. Saka RW, Kane ST and Rashford/Grealish LW as the attack
Exactly. Jude CAN play the 10 but isn't the perfect embodiment of the role, Foden is the type of player who is perfect for half of a creative partnership. Have Jude boss and beat up the Midfield. Have Jude help pivot and create. If you sub Foden, Mainoo can help pivot behind Rice, and Rice can play the 8, then Jude the 10. Try Madison/Rash/Grealish on the left and Saka on the right.

One thing I realised England yes the league is popular but I think when it comes to football iq they don't have it. They talk about it as if they know it but they truly don't. I've watched all the golden generation and this is the best we've played. And I think this is the best we are ever going to get. Yes England always try to use brawn over brain. Then end up burning out. And just will never have the tactical IQ to manage games or be creative enough against the big boys. The only hope we have if individually Kane, Bellingham, Saka, etc get firing. But that's a big ask.

Very very few players deliver consistently for club and country. Different teams, different system, they don’t play as much football together for country like they do for their clubs. Better players in a better system will help you perform on a higher level. Foden is a fantastic player that has played consistently in peps team for years. He’s definitely gonna be hitting higher levels for city than England. He should be doing better for England, agreed. But Southgate na Mid 😅
I see absolutely no problem. We’re having Phil Ford and or Jed on the bench. If a game after 67 minutes is not going your way they are both fantastic world class options to bring on and completely change again and I have that same energy with the right and the left wings there so many options And so many formations you do not need to get all of your best players in one 11 for example Trent could play and be world-class, but he’s also after 70 minutes if you wanna spam crosses into a box a world class option to do it hold off for 60 minuteshe’s a great option to replace Jude or vice versa😊

As much as I think that nostalgia merchants will gas up players from back in the day (I'm 28 btw), I think the biggest argument for players being better back in the day compared to now is that we are seeing generational talents only being system players and not being able to perform unless a system is either built around them or works for them. For instance what they are saying about Phil Foden not performing for England and Trent last season when Liverpool's midfield was a little shakier which made him have to defend which was when people where giving him so much stick that there was a documentary or something made about how hard the media is on him lol. Trent and Foden are great players but its because of the system more then themselves I think in a lot of situations.

Ste is spot on. England national team does not have a true style ID and its because all their players and teams in the league play different styles of football. If you look at south american teams they all know their football Identity and stick to it whether it works or not, this is the same for scandanavian, african and other european countries.
Iniesta one of the greatest no 8/10 played out on the right in some of spains' great teams. So, no excuses. They need a maurauding full back to bring pace and width.. and all will be fine.
