I feel like this ending hits just as hard as Arthur's death. I don't understand folks who say one is better than the other - this was devastating when I played it back in 2010.
They called RDR fans when they don't play the first one, their opinions doesn't matter Arthur and John both are great in their respective games and their personalities.
Rdr 1s is rougher. I played 1 when it was new and whole arthurs was a lot more emotional, the viewers and arthur both knew his time was coming and he had time to make amends and go with a clear conscious. Johns was a lot more sudden and all his last remaining cutscenes with his family before the shootout only got more meaning and sentimentality after his death
Damn straight. Never did a playthrough of Rdr1 myself, i was only 7 when it came out but i would hang out with my dad and watch him play. Johns death was unexpected and real sad

Johns death is much more tragic. John did evil things to complete his mission, which was to be with his family, like in this clip. Arthur had already come to accept his passing and done what he could to make it better. High honor arthur's death is almost triumphant, John's is just bitter.

It's nice that John doesn't call out Jack on his ungreatfulness. In a way, he understands where this is coming from and knows Jack doesn't mean it. He just wants a stable home and for his father to be a part of his life again, and John is trying his best to give him just that.

Arthur knew what was coming, and of course rockstar capitalized on that fact and gave you the chance to redeem himself first.. on the other hand, all John Marston wanted in the whole world was to be a good father and husband and spent the last few years of his life trying to give his family the best normal life he could and in the end he knew the only way they would have a chance to survive is if he let himself get turned into Swiss cheese by the men that represented everything he hated about world. (Control through fear, corruption, etc.) Arthur’s story is about knowing his time was coming and getting a chance to redeem himself.. John’s is about doing everything he could to redeem himself and give his family a good life, just to be betrayed yet again.
Depending on how you play the game Arthurs story ends in betrayal too. As much as i like the peaceful ending it doesnt fit with the tone of story at all. Its sad but arthur being killed by micah just makes the story that much more emotional.
@@xtreme1211I think it fits well Micah kills low honour Arthur for the fact that low honour arthur still clings on to life. High honour Arthur did not care about dying so micah did not would not get the satisfaction of killing him. another is seems like high Honour Arthur reminds Micah of his own brother Arthur had changed so and he had got what he wanted which was for John to make it. Its intresting there are random camp encounters with micah if you help people in the world and Micah warns Arthur about helping people the same way Grimsaw and Dutch will call Arthur out for killing innocent folks.
Arthur's story wasn't just about knowing his ticking time, it was about how the gang/family he once knew was breaking apart and most importantly he knows that he must not waste his life even if it is coming to an end. So he gave it to someone who deserves a better future more than anyone among the members of the gang And that someone is John Marston.
I played both rdr1 and rdr2 jhon was sad and for arthur i was ready bc i knew he will go but still i cried more and more and i think it was most sad part of my life 😢
I put most on his body, avoiding the heart and lungs. Only on his legs and stomach, so he would die a slow death. I like to think he drowned on the river

Jack is my favorite red dead character. He had the most character development from a little boy raised in a gang, to a young man trying to get through it With his family, to a gunslinger. He had to grow up faster than most. He lost everyone
Jack is very overlooked. He could be one of the most dangerous people out there as he simply has nothing to lose as he lost everything he had ever known

If you don’t know much about the west it pretty much ended when Rdr 1 takes place so that game alone is barely a western I think it would be an amazing direction to take the story sure a lot of people might not like it being more “mafia” like but I think everyone would come around to the idea if they give jack his actual REDEMPTION

One of the saddest things is that Abigail died just a few years later. In real life I knew a man who son comited suicide and the man died I think months or a couple of years later because he couldn't stand the sadness and weight of what happened to his son. This is probably what happened to Abigail since we can see that she loved John so much, it's specially shown in RDRII

Absolutely, The few years that John *did* get to enjoy as a farmer and family man, were worth more than every single day Arthur and John were Van Derlinds. It could be argued John himself knew knew the law would catch up to him sooner or later, he still decided to stay in Beecher's Hope and start his farm and family.

Something. And it all slowly fell apart.

Nah he was close with John still despite arguing with him he was open with his feelings towards him and John was very understanding, it’s not like they were in bad terms or anything it was just kind of rough. Jack didn’t cry because he himself has to be the man now and he expressed his grief through getting stronger and faster with a gun so he can get revenge
Not a chance. Everything post epilogue is ww1 years. This is the absolute end of the "cowboy" era of American history, fictional or otherwise. RDR is about the dying world of the gunslinging outlaws, it was already dying in rdr2, it was on the brink of death in rdr1, 3 would be a pointless stretch of the imagination. RDR3 could be another prequel set before the events of the blackwater massacre. But honestly, I'm fine with where the story started up until this point. These stories don't need to be stretched out until infinity.
He didn't have much of a choice either way. It was either "go kill your old gang and get your family back or don't track down your old gang and have you and your family get killed by Ross and his men" which we obviously know the first choice meant he would save his family but he died in the process so either way he would've been killed. It was just a matter of should they just kill me or me and my family. Not a hard choice for any man that has a family
John was never evil, just a misguided and lost young man in rdr2 and a man who would then go to any lengths he had to in order to protect his family and get them back from Ross

Imagine how many women John widowed in his search for his gang, especially when he helped burn down a village in Mexico. Let's not pretend he hasn't gunned down hundreds of people that had loving families as well. Ross may be evil, but he didn't ruin nearly as many families as John did.

People keep asking for a RDR remake but honestly it really doesn’t need it. On a good 4K or 1440p monitor the game still looks incredible. If anything we need a Red Dead Revolver remake since that game has aged.
I do wonder what jack felt after Johns death, probably did feel a lot of resentment against him for leaving him again but maybe at some point realised John stayed with Jack to the very end to protect him. Maybe jack killing Ross wasn’t vengeance but justice.
John was brave Everyone thought that John was a kind of man who is a coward and runs away in tough times But in rdr1 John showed he was a real man and he stood for his family until the end
Not all dads are good though. Some do bad things but have good hearts, others do bad because they are bad, others do good but have a twisted heart, and some do good and want the best for you. We’ll never truly know how anybody feels about us all we can do is believe that they care about us until proven otherwise.

Arthur knew what was coming, and of course rockstar capitalized on that fact and gave you the chance to redeem himself first.. on the other hand, all John Marston wanted in the whole world was to be a good father and husband and spent the last few years of his life trying to give his family the best normal life he could and in the end he knew the only way they would have a chance to survive is if he let himself get turned into Swiss cheese by the men that represented everything he hated about world. (Control through fear, corruption, etc.) Arthur’s story is about knowing his time was coming and getting a chance to redeem himself.. John’s is about doing everything he could to redeem himself and give his family a good life, just to be betrayed yet again.

Depending on how you play the game Arthurs story ends in betrayal too. As much as i like the peaceful ending it doesnt fit with the tone of story at all. Its sad but arthur being killed by micah just makes the story that much more emotional.
@@xtreme1211I think it fits well Micah kills low honour Arthur for the fact that low honour arthur still clings on to life. High honour Arthur did not care about dying so micah did not would not get the satisfaction of killing him. another is seems like high Honour Arthur reminds Micah of his own brother Arthur had changed so and he had got what he wanted which was for John to make it. Its intresting there are random camp encounters with micah if you help people in the world and Micah warns Arthur about helping people the same way Grimsaw and Dutch will call Arthur out for killing innocent folks.
Arthur's story wasn't just about knowing his ticking time, it was about how the gang/family he once knew was breaking apart and most importantly he knows that he must not waste his life even if it is coming to an end. So he gave it to someone who deserves a better future more than anyone among the members of the gang
And that someone is John Marston.
I played both rdr1 and rdr2 jhon was sad and for arthur i was ready bc i knew he will go but still i cried more and more and i think it was most sad part of my life 😢
It’s safe to say we all put as many rounds as we could into Ross on our first playthrough.
I put most on his body, avoiding the heart and lungs. Only on his legs and stomach, so he would die a slow death. I like to think he drowned on the river

One of the saddest things is that Abigail died just a few years later. In real life I knew a man who son comited suicide and the man died I think months or a couple of years later because he couldn't stand the sadness and weight of what happened to his son. This is probably what happened to Abigail since we can see that she loved John so much, it's specially shown in RDRII

Absolutely, The few years that John *did* get to enjoy as a farmer and family man, were worth more than every single day Arthur and John were Van Derlinds. It could be argued John himself knew knew the law would catch up to him sooner or later, he still decided to stay in Beecher's Hope and start his farm and family.

I played RDR1, I cried. I played RDR2, I cried and grieved. I played RDR1 again, and I broke. The added context from RDR2 made everything hit so much harder. They already had RDR2 written in their heads, but when I played it I was hit with a gut punch, because from the start I knew what was going to happen, but every part of me wanted some way for it to work out. Something. And it all slowly fell apart.

Everything post epilogue is ww1 years. This is the absolute end of the "cowboy" era of American history, fictional or otherwise.
RDR is about the dying world of the gunslinging outlaws, it was already dying in rdr2, it was on the brink of death in rdr1, 3 would be a pointless stretch of the imagination.
RDR3 could be another prequel set before the events of the blackwater massacre. But honestly, I'm fine with where the story started up until this point. These stories don't need to be stretched out until infinity.
I hope in rdr3 you play as Dutch and slowly gather the whole gang

People keep asking for a RDR remake but honestly it really doesn’t need it. On a good 4K or 1440p monitor the game still looks incredible. If anything we need a Red Dead Revolver remake since that game has aged.
