    I've driven my Kona N for nearly 5k miles almost exclusively in N mode, customized with the lowest suspension setting and I get 22+ MPG. I'm not sure how you could possibly get 18.8 MPG unless your car is broken. As for interior quality. Didn't you sit in the car before you bought it?

    Side note. Drove both the Kona N and Standard Kona's. Lane keep is a driving "Assist" That doesn't mean you can willy nilly take your hands off the wheel for extended periods of time. Idk what this guy is saying by "I can drive 30 minuets at a time without touching the wheel" Maybe this has been patched but if you go for more than 10 seconds without touching the wheel your car will stop "Lane keep" and you and your boys will go flying off the road ina ditch. Be careful, don't rely on technology to drive your ass around. Be attentive, keep both hands on the wheel at all times, really aint that hard. Kinda sad how many people think their car will safely drive them around LOL.

    MY 2022 N-line DCT works perfectly. Go figure. Of course I also paid $40,000 Cdn for the AWD with the Tech package. The 'N' is for those specific people, it is NOT a family sedan, as the OP says. LOL So far, the only issue is the turbo pressure randomly won't happen. (6 x in two years) Otherwise, love the lane follow, HDA and Adaptive Cruise, the cushy interior, the firm ride, 130 mph easily achieved, Smart Mode is awesome, stereo and LED lighting is amazing, etc........ 🙂 AND, I can have lots of fun, and still get 30mpg. Yes, I am an old fart @68, but have owned my share of hot rods, and Camaro Z28, Trans Am, Chevelle SS, Mustang, Cougar, etc........ • @carloscervantes836
    @carloscervantes836 Před rokem +2

    My car mostly stays in Custom 1, where I set engine all the way up but transmission in the middle. My shifts happen at reasonable RPM's unless I enter N mode, where it generally holds them a bit longer. Another transmission setting I changed was turning off N Power Shift but not sure if that stays constant, I just find the gear changes too brutal with that mode on under strong acceleration. I drive fairly conservatively most of the time, not sure if the DCT has any degree of 'learning' that might also contribute to the reasonable RPM shifts. Also, depending on how fast/far I press the pedal given X speed, the gears are held longer or shorter.
    The missing convenience features are a MAJOR pain to me, on top of the song and dance octane learning for full boost. No radar cruz also means forward collision avoidance doesn't use sensor fusion(camera + radar), making it less robust. The wireless charged pad really needed an A/C duct to keep the phone cool, really bad design. No smart key support for iOS. Suspension is missing a true comfort mode but I disagree about not needing a stiff setting given the ground clearance.

      Haven't you noticed that you can put it in 'manual' mode? Not quite the same as the Ferrari gearboxes, but if you put the gear lever to the left (from Drive), then you get to control what gear you're in. You can't miss a gear, and it might stop you from changing at too low or too high revs (it does this in the Renault and the Alfa - our Kona arrives next month).

      DCTs are an automated manual. They shift faster than any human can, eliminate user-error, are stout gearboxes, and give the driver more control over the transmission than a simple manual - Manual mode (mentioned above) is an option on these cars. DCTs can reduce 0-60 times by up to if not more than 1-sec... proving that banging through gears on your manual tranny does not make you faster.

    Sorry to say but this is why hot-hatches are not so popular in America. You want a comfy hot-hatch car with high mpg ! It's an oxymoron, no such car exists. I drive my Kona almost always in N mode, the Normal mode is for warming up the oil to 90°C. I don't care the mpg (l/100km) at all, and I rev it, I drive it in 2nd gear in the city (about 3...4000rpm at least). In the 3rd gear, it would run about 80 kmh (50 mph), that is too much in the city I'd lose my licence very quickly. Your other complaints are absolutely righteous, why don't you get adaptive cruise in America ? Why no ventillated seats and other things you mentioned. Why no heated rear seats and no HUD. It's so unbelievable and inexplicable and silly, I think Putin hacked the American Hyundai. It's still a very good car though.

They do not have a good reputation for a reason. The resale is in the toilet. Get rid of it now, you might get some of you money back while the market is still upside down. I somewhat disagree. I did my research for over 2 years on the Kona N. The brand definitely came a long way I think it's significantly better than it used to be. I knew the general manager at this dealership so I got an unheard of discount. The salesman I bought it from was a full time college student and didn't care about the money but the experience. So I can definitely sell this car for a profit and it's already half paid off in 6 months. I have BMW X3-M on my list if I can find one used. But im very happy with my Kona N so far. Anyone can find 5 things to complain about with any car. I actually wanted an RC-F but then gas got expensive. Wanted an X3-M but the chip shortage made them expensive. I also spoke to Hyundai owners before I bought my 2023 Kona N and heard nothing but positive things.
      As for the US not getting some features, yeah that kind of sucks but, it's still got a ton of other great features and honestly, the cluster display colors is a personal preference thing I suspect many ppl aren't as concerned about. Definitely not something to "hate" about the car, imho.
