As for favorite baby, I'm picking the little Eastern Box Turtle, mostly because s/he bravely faced off with Otis, who I'm pretty certain was climbing up less to admire the baby than to see about lunching on him/her. Definitely a predatory gleam in Otis' eye there...
I LOVE this channel. If I were younger I’d adopt a Box Turtle. At best it’s a 40 plus year commitment. With others it could be 100 year plus .. Thank you for sharing your journey …… education and conservation of these amazing animals..
Perhaps you could still adopt an adult rescue/rehabilitated turtle. I volunteer at a turtle rescue and adopted my own rehabilitated adult box turtle and he's a joy! We often have many adults who were wild and needed to be rehabbed or some that were surrendered pets.

I love seeing all of them but because I've had my Princess Speedy for 51 years, I have a super soft spot for the Eastern Box babies🥰 I never got to see Speedy as a baby so I can only imagine her that little. She has aged gracefully though and is quite beautiful and adorable even as a senior🤗🐢💗

Funny, though, how it is the Aldabra is one of the few tortoise or turtle species that DOESN'T look like it's constantly grumpy or angry. They look downright relaxed sometimes, like a cat or dog would be after being pet by a favorite human!
I noticed that all the Radiated torts opened their mouths as they stood; was that to catch the rain? My bearded dragon Buddy will sometimes open his mouth to catch the drips if I mist him. Loved seeing the Diamondback Terrapins; they're beautiful-- those striking gray markings on the head, shoulders and legs always make me think of mockingbirds. I'm a native Floridian (coastal NW area) who now lives out in the desert Southwest; I played as a kid around wiregrass channels and marshes so I saw those guys a lot. Surprisingly fast little buggers! I guess if you live around gators (which I saw plenty of) you have to be.
Wonderful video. When we first moved into our house on the Christiana River, the previous owners were lawn fanatics and had pretty much destroyed the soil. It took almost ten years but even the area that killed anything else I planted is alive again. I happily describe my lawn as a lovely variety of every low growing weed in the area! Rabbits love it. We have seen a huge increase in life from insects to all kinds of mammals. My favorite is a wasp whose name I just blanked; I call them the gentle wasps as they don’t sting, even when stepped on by a bare foot. They appear with the cicadas, which they catch to put with their young. Having a cicada dropped on the head from a height hurts! We have lots of snappers and sometimes see box turtles in the yard and other turtles basking on a stick or log in the river.
Great video!! I have a male Golden Greek tortoise for about 10 years. I’ve looked for a female forever, with no luck. Sometimes I feel surrendered so it can have a normal tortoise life,I leave in South Florida not their natural environment.
I have a baby common snapping turtle. I have read how important basking is to turtles. I have a UVB in his tank, but he just will not dask. The only part of his body that leaves the water is his nostrils. Is this ok?
