Changing the goalie can help save their stats, and their morale. A goalie with a bad defense is a pissed goalie, a pissed goalie makes mistakes.

I've personally met a couple of these goalies being substituted in when themselves played in minor leagues...
Reimer (used to play with Maple Leafs, in this video he plays with Panthers, and now he plays with Hurricanes) and and Grubauer (in the video he played with Capitals and now he is with Avalanche).
It SUCKS they say. It sucks when it's you being pulled and it sucks to be the one substituting them! They have even said it.
I'm halfway through the video and I've not seen Jonathan Quick being pulled... He IS THE MOST HOT HEADED GOALIE EVER! Honestly in the ECHL he was a cannonball waiting to be unleashed if he lost. He was only pulled FOUR TIMES in ECHL and the one time we were down by SIX when he was pulled. And he went MAD! He broke his stick off the back bar of the net. He went psycho right on the ice

As an Ex Goalie, that is the second worst feeling or even the worst feeling a goalie can experience

I got pulled in a playoff game and broke my stick in three places it was by far the worst feeling
I remember being 12 yo, and the Alaska All Star team lit me up for 8 goals and I went to the bench before getting pulled, so our "coach" left me in for two more goals(I couldn't see because of the tears in my eyes!!!) finally pulling me @10-0!!! We lost 20-0!!! Seriously, we couldn't clear OUR BLUE LINE!!!

@Dylan my worst was 12 🤣🤣 was called up to play in a game for a team that was 2 tiers above me because both their goalies were out. Tough game. In my defence 7 of the 12 goals were on wideopen breakaways. Defence wasnt helping too much lol

to pull a goalie after two or three goals is ridiculous unless a goalie allows 4 or more goals in one period, no wonder these goalies are upset, sometimes u might let in a few bad goals but than suddently play like an allstar....just happens. Seen this many times where a team comes back to win after the goalie flounders in the beginning
I'd say more than 50 percent of the time it's not a message to the goalie from the coach, it's a message to the team to get its @ss in gear.

Gotta feel for some of these guys getting pulled in the 2nd with like 3 goals against on >15 shots. That's not *that* bad for a small sample size, sometimes your team is putting you in bad spots, but you deserve to at least finish that game.
One of the darkest times in the Florida Panthers history.... the Tom Rowe era. What an effing nightmare that guy was for the franchise. And to let Gallant go in lieu of Rowe behind the bench just killed it. I will never forget when Florida made that disgusting decision. Gallant went to the Stanley Cup finals the next year with Vegas, an expansion team at the time ffs.

Everytime these goaltenders get into these situations I don't blame them. I blame the defencemen. If the opposing player has a clean shot on the net what are the odds the goaltender will stop it?
