Make either sewers or pipes in between the stations, perhaps add rabbit burrows or badger?

For that blank strip, you could run water pipes and gas pipes, maybe throw in some bones and a skeleton or two. Or a side cut of an old car or so eones basement from the past. I can hardly decide what you put there!!
