I went to a Thai gym with Thai shorts as a karate athlete and apparently just like a belt you have to earn the shorts. So coach didn’t let me off that easy when he found out it was my first day.
i've never heard of having to earn the shorts, but that's a pretty cool idea actually
@@fredink5536 the coaches assume if you have the shorts then you are well versed in the sport so they push you hard because that’s how they train
Sounds Muay Thai! 👊😂 I hope you had a good experience!
@@niinacarita I had a great time, thank you!

@@mythological_ there are 2 forms of taekwondo. ITF and WTF. WTF has leg kicks, ITF doesn't. And ITF is better. like kickboxing
@@mythological_ I've done both WT and ITF and no leg kicks so you're prob in a kickboxing gym or Karate gym
Throwing in an insight as a Muay Thai fighter myself, she’s not wrong about how well you take to these kicks. The flexibility that comes with karate will help a TON!
I'm practicing Muay Thai, and I think this competition between Karate and Muay Thai is terrible. Let's just train our martial arts and have productive talks with the practicers of others!
I like that Nat is learning from other martial artists and cross training. It’s so cool.
Good job, as a fellow karateka. From a Goju Ryu practitioner to you😊
Nat, you probably saw this already, but the knee bend that you started your Muay Thai front kicks with, when Nina was first demonstrating them, was completely gone when you tried it out on the bag. Quick learning, one would say. ALSO, IT'S COMPLETELY FINE TO BLUSH, NO NEED TO FEEL EMBARASSED!!!

Thank you man👊
The combination of martial arts is insane 🗻
Was great fun👊
Nat after this session: who wants their shin to be broken?
😆😆😆 Haha!!!

the muay thai low kick is really interesting to me, in that there are many different schools of though in how to do the strike.
This guy is everyone’s gymbro
bro thanks for creating new videos i learned how to do different types of kicks and by the way great video
I started doing muay thai coming from kuokushin and it was so fun, but what was even more fun was eventually mixing martial arts, now I'm trying to mix in my kyoku thai with some tkd and maybe even somethng else someday
When you turned your shoulder more for the low kick that was good. When you do the same for the Roundhouse you'll notice the power on a bag. Same when you throw the arm to help with torque!
Other thing I've been taught is keeping the non swinging hand up for defence..
I feel a connection between these two
Karate low kick is the staple of Kyokushin Karate. He chambers his knee to throw a low kick as in Karate
Well done Nat 👏 👏👏☺️
Provided there isn’t a massive earthquake in California while you’re there, I hope you can “teach me some kicks” one day SIR.
Hahah maybe one day bro👊
Can you do a special video on hook kicks
Yes I can👍

It's actually about muay Thai techniques
Muay thai has less kicks but the most effective kicks

Hey NAT I wanted to ask a think
You taught us to kick fast , with technique , with power
But how to defend from those kicks
Will be a lot of help 😀
Interesting vid. Any plans to do any Okinawan karate? (Goju Ryu/Uechi ryu etc)
I’m so impressed! It looks so hard compared to what I do. I use that wider stance for balance, but with this I can’t really do that since the centre is not in the same place

Nat 💪💪 😎
I've been doing karate for a very long time and I also compete but I've been kicke dmy a muay thai and it is the worst pain ever
Muay Thai for low kicks, side teeps and teeps, and Karate for side kicks, hook kicks, spinning back kicks and high kicks ☝️ Combining both is great 👍 But there are a lot of Muay Thai fanboy keyboard warriors who talk smack about Karate
The problem with karate from a combat sports perspective is not the techniques but how it is trained. If your only goal is to get better at fighting there is no reason to do Kata at all for example.
@@joshuabrant7689 Serious question, what's kata for anyway? I heard it was about balance
@@DragonguyA It's basically antiquated shadow boxing. Alot of the techniques in karate Kata are meant to be grappling related but many of them are impractical and there's not much reason for 95% of them to be done in an I shape that starts and finishes at the same spot. The way they are practiced today it is essentially a dance. The initial concept was to train many people at once and to give a way to practice karate individually without a partner. Judo has Kata as well but they are much shorter and much more obviously applicable.

Yo nat Hearn I wish me and you would calab one day we should do my style vs your style of karate
She is in Tekken
They are bend their support leg and taekwondo straight support leg
bent knee = use of stabilizing muscles (natural way). straight knee = speed is needed for balance (forced way). physics.
@@TBButtSmoothy all high level Muay Thai fighters lock the support knee when you teep, its much more powerful and easier to keep balance.
5:25 perfect analogy. Imagine your rubbing a stick between both hands but on the end is the head of a mop. You twist the stick up your standing leg and the kicking leg is the tendrils of the mop, just loose and whipping through the hip
Everytime I try to learn Muay Thai I'm like "damn this is so complicated I'm good with boxing and karate"😂
I felt the same way when I tried Karate with Nate! 😂
🤣
Call me crazy but I do both at the same time, I kickbox, but also do Karate and Muay Thai so I can combine all the best parts of the two
i dont think youre crazy, in fact youd be crazy for only sticking to one fighting style and not learning from others
@@Kettvnen Thank you, since writing this comment, I’ve used these two styles to drastically improve my kickboxing, allowing for more creativity, helping me beat people much stronger and larger than me in sparring, I landed a karate head kick and finished him with a Thai leg kick, he fell down, but then, as a good sport, I shook his hand and we ordered pizza together
i think its called MMA

Nat, could you do a tutorial on zenkutsu dachi? Recently switched to Shotokan and, having long legs, it's quite tough getting so low.
Did you ever experience dull pain in the back of your heel during the front stance?

( I'm already feeling bad for the one who's gonna fight Nat )
Of course, he is a man! He is stronger! 👊
I think it's obvious he has more power and more strength than she does, but his technique is not as refined, and idk how he would hold in a muay thai fight, granted i know very little about it and he would likely default to his karate style of fighting
@@niinacarita 10/10 comment. Finally a strong woman who doesn't claim she is stronger than men.

Nice.
I'm a bit confused on the push kick. I have been training Muay Thai for about 2 years and had some training in Thailand, and i'm not sure why she said you can put the push kick to the face. In Muay Thai it is very disrespectful to put the bottom of you foot on someones face. And the way she angled her foot on the kick is not a good way to kick. It switches your fighting position from Orthodox to Southpaw. Then having so switch back to the original stance is a waste of time when you can use the force of the push to bring that foot back. Anyway, great video and love the content, I just wanted to share what I thought about that in particular but i'm not hating 😅
It all depends on who is teaching you and your body type
You can definitely kick people in the face, it may be considered distasteful but, that doesn't mean you can't do it. Her teep is pretty bad but, you are supposed to turn your lead foot out if you're throwing a rear teep. You should have enough control to bring it back without losing posture though. Both of them need to lock out the knee on the supporting leg, that's why they can't drive the kick through well.
@@chriskerwin3904 Completely agree. I think Muay Thai has a big reputation for respect in the sport, I wasn't saying you can't doing it I was just explaining that it is very disrespectful. And the way she positions her arms with her right down is a easy way to catch a hook straight to the face. It's the hand placement for a round kick, so I'm not sure why she is using it on her push/front kicks.
@@Glitch-tl9ch You swing your arm down when you teep
@@MrCguy24 I personally don't, I usually keep my arms up or put them down a little bit but the way she is doing it is like shes doing a round kick, it just looks funny and feels funny to me but everyone has their preference 😅
