Touch less snow is a completely different system to their other snowfoam. Touchless is to be used with touch-on ceramic shampoo. Touchless snowfoam can be used in varying amounts for how dirty the car is and the season. I use it always as a prewash. In the winter I use 350ml in a 1000ml bottle as that's what the PIR worked out to be. I use around 200ml in a 1000ml bottle in the summer or sometimes less as I'll generally take a view on what crud is stuck to the panels and adjust accordingly. Touch- less is is a more superior snowfoam that Bilt Hamber makes in my opinion. It just brakes down the dirt better and you can see the results in the foam on the floor. Just be sure to buy Touch-on sachets in conjunction with the Touch-less snowfoam for the whole system to work properly 👍

Pan. PIR. This is not a bilt Hamber issue. if you tell people to use a product in a lance given ratio. Eg 1 to 10. The PIR variance across all the different formats of pressure washer and lance combos is vast. And the effective variance in PIR could be huge. Eg 1to10 could mean 1%pir but it could also mean 0.3 PIR in another system. Therefore understanding PIR and how to calculate it. Is a basic thing but it's something people should know for their own benefit not just with BH products, you should think PIR, never lance ratio. It takes 1 minute to do it, you do it for your setup and then you know forever. You said in this video your example ratio 1to20 in the Lance. That typically yields about 0.35% PIR. When minimum PIR should be 2%. Typically 1to2 is a decent ratio for heavy cleaning with af and tl (to give rough idea only as ratio means huge potential variance). Your ratio would be very thin and low for example

      @PanTheOrganizer  Před 2 lety +27

Yeah I understand all of that Jon, and that’s great in theory, but I still think they would benefit from simplifying things as far as instructions are concerned. It’s not normal having to write such a long description to explain something that should be as simple to use as a snow foam. This isn’t rocket science here hehe. Again, that’s just my opinion. They are good products, but I just wish they were simpler to figure out. Having to measure a PIR for your specific setup, even if you only have to do it once, isn’t simple by any stretch of the imagination. I don’t think these are meant for the general public who doesn’t have as much detailing experience as you and I.
That being said, I hope you’ll have a great 2022 year and I wish you all the best! Perhaps we’ll see each other in person once again soon! ;)

@@PanTheOrganizer How isnt it simple? Filling your foam cannon with 1 litre of water and dispensing it into a bucket once foam cannon is empty measure the volume in bucket and times by 0.04?????? Just pointless to do the video if youre not going to follow the actual instructions

  • @rozaroza5294
    @rozaroza5294 Před rokem +25

I actually really appreciate Bilt Hamber giving very specific instructions on how to mix and achieve certain PIRs. I hate this world we live in where everything needs to be dumbed down to the dumbest person in the room. The instructions are super simple…shoot a full cannon of water into a container, when cannon is empty measure the total amount of liquid in container, then multiply that by the number they give you, that’s how much product you need to put into your cannon.
It’s simple, will tune the product ratios to every individual setup, and will save people wasting additional product for no reason, or using too little and not achieving desired results. What’s the issue here exactly?
I wish more companies were that exact, I actually hate some of these wishy-washy general, non-clear, instructions. Cause then you’re never sure if what you’re doing is achieving best possible results from the product, or you start over using and burning money.

    • @mkhrmns
      @mkhrmns Před rokem +3

also it isn't that hard to do just once. note down how much you need to add to the foam gun. After that one time it's just adding it every single time. I really don't see the issue with it

    • @Svarg89
      @Svarg89 Před rokem

There are not many companies that provide PIR in their usage directions.
So I was wondering and can't really find any confirmation, but basically if there is no PIR guidance, you can still calculate how much product is needed for your own cannon, right?
Just figure out how much water it takes in total to empty your foam bottle and then use that total volume for more commonly used 1:X delution ratio, just keeping in mind that this is the ratio not for the foam bottle volume but for the total volume you figured out earlier.
      Am I right?

    • @MrBillUp
      @MrBillUp Před 8 měsíci +1

And the fact we use Liters and Mililitres here in the UK, and not Ounces and Gallons like Merica and Canada (apparently). And I totally agree with you. The more consise and detailed the instuctions are, the more likely I am to use the product. And it only ever has to be done once for your setup. I was scratching my head wondering what the complaint was to be honest.

The way Bilt Hamber explains dilutions for a snow foam (PIR) is absolutely correct.. It is completely wrong to give recommendations on dilutions in the actual container for foam cannon as there are 1000 different foam cannons on the market, high pressure washers, with different water volume out and pressure. So the only correct thing to recommend is to calculate the panel impact ratio, exactly Bilt Hamber does. BTW: Pan mixes Auto Foam completely wrong in this video as well. 1:20 in container for foam cannon is far too weak. And we see that in the film. The car is still very dirty after he dries it..

A little odd to read this - part Pan's post - on the other hand the fact that Bilt Hamber APPEARS to be new.
Bilt Hamber is "old school" for Europeans, as this brand has been around for years. Similar to Koch Chemie and Sonax. The bad thing is that these brands are only now becoming known across the ocean. I myself live in Belgium. Similar to the Sonax Perfect Finish that was well established, but unprecedented in the States.
BH positions itself among Koch Chemie, Nanolex, CarPro, Megs, etc. The quality is impeccable, and the price irresistible.
They don't make 885 products for every application, but what they have works great.

Autofoam I normally use 100ml product to about 600ml water - a little more in winter or if dirtier.
Shampoo - I think you’ve over complicated it, I personally stick between 15-20ml in the bucket and go from there - ignore their tea spoon comments: I’m not sure why they’ve even mentioned it…
BH are huge in the UK (just for anyone outside of the UK wondering what all the fuss is about).
To give context they are used by professionals / hobbyists alike as they are well known for their cleaning ability and vehicle protection. They also make waxes which again are no none sense but highly regarded

    Hello Pan!
And thank you for another great video!
PIR (Panel Impact Ratio) is the correct way of getting the right mixture of chem onto a panel at a specified rated dilution.
My foamer have a throughput of 17Liter with a 1Liter bottle. gives me 680ML but usually i can wash my car twice on a 1L bottle.
    17*0.04= 0.68 L
How i wash my car: (Friday wash)
    1. Foam the entire car including the wheels and inside the wheel arches.
    2. Use the wheel/tire brush on wheels/tires and when all 4 wheels are done rinse the wheels and then the body. (perfect duration for me)
    3. Check panels and wheels IF they need a extra wash or they are ok or a tad of surfexHD or a dab tar remover.
    4. If all needs a extra prewash just refoam again and wait 4-5 minutes the rinse off, and if its only the wheels just spray Autofoam or autowheel on them.
    5. Do the hand wash autowash, when done, start rinsing the wheels then body.
    Done.
I rarely use surfexHD or autowheel on my wheels as its usually not needed when i use 4% autofoam and wheel woolly on them.
After a wash id like to use Bilt Hamber QD as drying aid. (1:20 mixture) 1-2 sprays per panel and dry off.
Soo quick and looks nice afterwards as well smells great!
Winter mix varies a bit but general a tad higher concentration or mix it up/together (autofoam+Surfex HD)
    Strongest mixture.
Autofoam 2-4% and 10% Surfex HD into foamer IF needed.
That will really give some cleaning effect BUT will drain on the protection layer, not remove it unless its very old.
As for duration for waxes and sealant.
When I still could commute to work before the beerflu. (i commuted about 198Miles per day)
I usually just prewashed the car when i got home and rinsed it off then a quick AIR dry (Leaf blower)
This i did everyday and every Friday the car got a full wash.
    Waxes, Sealants.
I use Soft99 FussoCoat Dark v1, it lasts about 6-7 months here in Sweden.
Sure Fusso could lasts a little longer IF i choose to use a QD mixed as 1:5 as a mid gloss wax quick detailer but i loose the fusso coat hydrophobics, soo.
Another nice sealant i tend to use are Menzernas Ultimate PowerLock, Fast and quick to use lasts about 2-3 months with a daily autofoam prewash.
As well as Bilt Hamber double speed wax which looks better to me vs fusso coat and lasts about the same.
Fusso have better hydrophobic in the get-go but a few months in they're about the same, but double speed still looks better to my eyes.
Also for the summer bugs i use around 10% surfexHD mixture in a separate sprayer before prewash.
Sometimes i need to work it into the bug guts with a brush before proceeding with the prewash stage.
Sure it is harder on the protection layer but hey those pesky bugs guts splatter are worse.
And yes i don't buy kitchen cleaners and floor cleaners anymore.
SurfexHD in 1-5% mixture in a spray bottle, it solves the burnt owen, Bathroom, tables and steel tables, floors etc.
Not so great on windows but doable.
On the other spectrum SurfexHD 33% to neat if needed! Works wonders to clean out oil pans, valve covers, engine blocks, oil spil and with a brush for more agitations. (dont forget gloves and eye protection)
Only you're imagination limits the uses for surfex HD.
    Some info.
    Im a 50 years old dude who's daily driver is a Volvo V60 2017.
Been using Bilt Hamber for about 6 years now.
I use these Bilt Hamber products:
AutoWash (Yes a bottle REALLY lasts forever)
    Autofoam (It really works!! )
Autowheel (Best smelling wheel cleaner as well. Wont try to strangle you like valet pro`s Dragon Breath!)
Auto QD (Drying aid, quick detailer, clay lube, no water wash, quick and dirty wax on wax off)
AutoClay Medium (Easiest clay to mold before use, is it just me or does this clay do less damage/scratches to the paint than other clays)
Surfex HD (It WILL clean ANYTHING if used to right % and its environment friendly as well as all of BH products)
    Korresol (Same here smells nice)

Double Speed wax (Kinda like fussocoat but with a carnuba look, smells a tad better than Fusso coat)
BH Microfiber (Really good quality microfibers, not the normal BH bang for the buck though.. just had to try them)

Only drawback with these products are...

Hello, what a comment! Brilliant, I had a question about auto foam + surfex hd mixing I know you mention auto foam 2-4% and surefex hd 10% just wanted more clarification on the 10% please? Just for example if foam lances is 1000ml 4% is say 500ml of auto foam and 500 ml of what do you measure the 10% from? Is it the 1000ml or is it from what left of the 500ml of water?

The AutoFoam can also be used in a pump sprayer which makes the dilution simple as there’s one ‘dilution event’.
If using a cannon, what BH say makes perfect sense as everybody has different pressure washer set ups which could massively impact how much of the product ultimately hits the car.
It takes two minutes. Sorry to my North American friends, done in litres as I don’t use ounces
Fill your Lance bottle with water, blast that into a bucket until it’s empty, see how many litres that is (helps if you have a bucket with markers in the inside), then times that by the strength you want, 1%, 2%, 4% or whatever which tells you how much AF to put in the lance bottle, then top up with water. Only have to do that once unless you change your pressure washer.
    For example,
I fill my Lance bottle with water
I spray into a bucket until the Lance bottle is empty
The bucket has 12 litres of water in it
    I want 2% mix
    12 x 0.02 = 240
I add 240ml of AF to the lance bottle and top up with water
    If in future I want a 4% solution, I double it to 480ml, if I want 1%, I halve it to 120ml.
My 1 litre bottle will do 2-3 cars and I usually use a PIR of 1 or 2% so, a 5 litre bottle of products lasts for ages and is fantastic value, even with shipping as I no longer live in the U.K.
It’s fantastic stuff, I wish I could buy it locally without having to pay a bit more for transport cost.

Same goes for the korrosol, for maintenance purpose 2:1/3:1 it’s still very effective. I’ve tried tonnes of snow foams, and while some look more impressive due to as you say the “shaving foam” thickness, I’ve yet to find one that cleans as well as auto foam, which lets face it is the whole point of the pre wash!

Hi Pan thanks for another great in depth video on the Bilt Hamber products.
I watch lots of Johns videos on the Forensic Detailing channel here in the UK and he got me started on the BH journey with his passionate review of BH Auto Foam

I now have several of the BH products and use these ones regularly.
    - Auto Foam at 4% PIR. The calculation method is on the 5L BH bottle and it took me 5 mins to calculate for my foam cannon and pressure washer which I never need to do again. It works out as 500ml product and 500ml water for me.
    - Auto Wash at 5ml per 10L bucket for my contact wash
    - Surfex HD at 10 parts water to 1 part Surfex in the 'IK Foamer 2' for my tyres and wheels
    - Auto wheel for alloy wheel decontamination
    - Auto QD at 10 parts water to 1 part QD as a drying agent for a streak free finish
One BH product I'd like to see reviewed is their new 'Touch On' 30ml Crystalline hydrophobic treatment' for topping up your protection during the wash. Specifically how best to apply it quickly and effectively and its durability / hydrophobicity

Hi Pan, greetings from England. Great video. I have been using all of the products that you featured for a couple of years and would highly recommend them all. It is not to difficult to work out the PIR ratios and you only need to do it once. Following this, I would recommend using a stronger ratio for the snow foams. For a dirty car, I use 300 ml in a 1 litre snow foam bottle to give a PIR of 4%. This ratio will leave a dirty car as featured here almost spotlessly clean, far cleaner than in the video. You also had concerns that these products could damage your LSP but I have had no issues with this.

That's really a lot of product though. I've been using it for a while, but it never wowed me yet. (I usually do a 1:10/100ml to 1000ml dilution)
Do you mind explaining how to calculate the PIR??

    • @markcraddock8983
      @markcraddock8983 Před 2 lety +10

@@sebster6031 For a very dirty car, with my set up I use 300ml of product and 600ml water in the snow foam lance. This is a P.I.R. of 4% and the results are amazing. If I'm in a hurry I just snow foam, rinse and go with a car thats more than 97% clean.
To calculate PIR, fill your foam lance to your usual level with plain water. Using your pressure washer, spray into a bucket until the container is empty with the valve set for maximum soap. Then measure the contents of the bucket which will be the total amount of water that you would have put on the car. For a PIR of 4% multiply this quantity by 0.04 (for 2% multiply by 0.02 etc). The value that you get is then the amount of product that you need to put in your snow foam lance.
Therefore if say you have 9l of water in your bucket, multiply this by 0.04 and you get 360 ml. So to achieve a PIR of 4% you need to add 360 ml of soap to you snowfoam lance and top up with water.
There are videos on CZcams if my explanation isn't clear. Good luck.

Hi Pan, in my pressure washer setup with my snow foam cannon I use the BH snowfoam undiluted and turn the knob to minimum amount of product. I have calculated this to be about 1.4% PIR.
Turning the knob more open for 2.5 revolutions gives me just about 4% PIR. This way I "refill" my snowfoam canon usually to about 200 ml of pure product which suffices to prewash several cars. On more heavily dirty cars I go to about 4%, on the cleaner cars I tend to the minimum PIR my canon gives me.

The PIR is done once to your pressure washer setup. If you have a soap/chemichal dispenser on your PW it's usually a 1:20 dilution or 5%. The problems is when you uses ounches and gallons. So if you take the time it's pretty simple to be doing. For an example to do it quickly. Messure up 10 ounches in the foamcannon bottle. Empty it on the max chemichal mix on the foamcannon into a bucket. Messure the amount of water in the bucket in ounches (proberly spelling it wrong sorry) and the total amount times 0.04. The result is the amount of Auto-Foam or Touch-less you need in the foamcannon bottle for every 10 ounches. And you will only to be doing it once. You can messure up the water in the amount that you will usually be useing on your vehical. Messure the total amount and have a bucket with amount marks on it for even easier. You can do this test to the minimum setting on the chemichal setting as well. It's not hard to count out what your PW give your foamcannon dilution at the highest or the lowest setting this way. Then you can write this up and use to other chemichal for getting better dilution ratio from soaps and other APC or what you foam on your vehical.
Pro tips for BH Auto-Foam when it's winter months and very grimy conditions outside. Mix 50/50 with Auto-Foam and Surfex HD. Dial down from max chemichal setting to about a third part of the setting on the foamcannon. The cleaning ability is insane this way.
I live in Sweden and have washed vehicals that's dirtier than the car in the video. With the Auto-Foam to 4-5% PIR I don't have any visible dirt left. Sure there are grime left but it's things that you need to be handwash to get rid off.
But even with a very low dilution it shows it's capable cleaning ability in this video. Even if you where to fill the foamcannon bottle with 1:3 dilution on the max setting you will a highly jump in the cleaning ability. And still not be having it over the 4% PIR is my guess. Test it out on a winter dirty vehical. The downside with BH Auto-Foam is that's not so highly concentrated sadly. But for me it's worth it.
If you have a car available with wash marring. Test to wax it with Bilt Hamber Auto-Balm wax. It's the best wax that I have used that covers light scratches. Also a huge benefit is that this wax also have korrosion inhibitors in it. Say you have a lot of open and rusty rockchips. Take the rust of with Korrosol and apply Auto-Balm and you have them rust free after 3-5 months. Or wax the bare metal on the undercarrige and edges that's damaged on some cars. It prolong the time before you need to be doing something about it. And also don't need to be polishing and it still looks great before it wears off LOL

Great video. I had never heard of BH before. Definitely will be trying them out. I’ve always preferred a runny snow foam. My thinking has always been that if it’s running down the panels it’s able to remove particles. Shaving cream looks good but is only for show in my opinion.
I’ve now started to use an APC pre rinse, so the BH products should fit in perfectly.

    • @79blustone
      @79blustone Před 2 lety

You won't need an apc pre rinse. Just apply Touch-less snow foam to a dry car, you'll only dilute the foam if you prewash it and make the cleaning powder less effective. Use their car shampoo to get the harder stuff off then use touch-on shampoo as LSP and check out the extreme hydrophobic properties its has. All of BH products are highly condensed, you'll have you use another container to store products in whilst you water them down to fulfill a specific need. Such as their apc, fallour remover, xar car wash shampoo is around 10p per wash! And their detailing spray has different uses has different applications and results depending on what you do with it. I.e mix 70:30 with water and you'll get deep lustre shine, mix it 30:70 you'll get a clay bar lube, 40:60 and a drying aid and so forth. Its so cheap and so powerful designed by chemical engineers who have been around since the 1960s. They are all a committed brand to be as ethical a d environment focused as possible. I really should like to gain employment from them as I strongly believe in the brand. Recommend mixing their products with deionised water 👍

This is the feed back I got when requiring about dilution for Surfex hd so I stick to this and works well :
“You only need it to be in at 5% so 50ml in 1 litre or 250ml in 5 litres. You could push to 10% if the car was filthy.”

27:16 I 100% agree, Im more of a runny soap kinda person, but anticipate high cleaning capabilites. I think foam only benefits when you want to see where you have been instead of the therapeutic nature of it. Makes it easier to rinse too! Thanks for elaborating on this Pan! Not many folk agree nor see the logic on the benefits of a low foam solution. ;)

I thought you would be trying to convert quarts with amounts suggested on bottles, so I was impressed with all your detailed explanations. Am waiting to try this product at home, but got to pass on the products to others or I have use them.Hope to see more vids in the New Year Happy 2022 Pan.

Hi Pan I have never seen these before but have heard about their products so TY for doing this review. I will now try and find out if they are available here in Australia. They seem a great product from your testing of them and I am a pensioner so I am always looking for value for money products to maintain my vehicle in tip top condition and looking wonderful. Once again TY mate

I use the snow foam here in the U.K. I have a pump dispenser on my gallon container. I dispense 20 pumps into my 1 litre foam cannon bottle, then top up to 800 ml with water. I find that’s the best ratio for me. Definitely the best snow foam I’ve used.

According to the instructions auto wheels should be applied to a dry wheel. Also the dilution ratio seems very low compared to what I tend to see following the Bilt Hamber PIR guide.

Bilt Hamber Q.D is a superb product. It will even work diluted at 9:1! Used neat or at 1:1 spread with a microfibre pad then buffed, it is effectively a high-gloss, super-slick sealant. Very strongly recommended.

Great review, pan. I’ve been detailing my vehicles for well over 10 years now and love to try all the different brands and products. The BH auto foam is only one of two products I stick with. The other being Koch Chemie Fb for wheels/fallout. When I first tried it I was very disappointed with how it looked with low foam and quick run off. But the cleaning is excellent and value for money is great. What you get is high performing cleaning, not Hollywood foaming.

great video Pan, very similar to Infinity Wax's Powerfoam, similar sugar cleaning ingredient and it also has corrosion protection included. I use AM Details Foam during the summer and IW Powerfoam during winter. May need to try some of the BH products to see if it can beat any of my usual go-to line-up, but will need to hire a maths genius to help with dilutions 🤣.

Hi Pan - Another super informative and none biased review of some great british products. I agree that including PIR for weekend warriors almost puts you off ! Thanfully I bought mine based upon reccomendation from CZcamsrs and not by choossing from off a shelf. Ive been using Korrosol mainly as a complimentary wheel cleaner as you suggest & surfex HD as a pre wash for about 12 months (it aslo works great as a mountain bike cleaner) @ 10% Ratio. Some constructive feedback for you now, The video was slightly confusing by splitting it to make the meguiars video. I would have liked to have seen the Bilt Hamber Auto wash in action as this was a Bilt Hamber product review. Please do a video on the Auto wash if you can as I have alsways been a bit sceptical at the dilition ratios of 2 tea spoons in a 5 gallon bucket. Have a great 2022 and thanks for all of the videos.

I found Pan’s website by accident, and now it’s my go-to site! Yes, the BH snow foam instructions are a bit detailed, but as others have said, you only need to do it once. I did the set up initially using a Karcher K4 with the original hose and it took 11 litres of water to empty the foam cannon. Later, I changed to a much more user-friendly after-market hose on the Karcher, and the cannon emptied after just 9 litres. So the dilution ratio can be affected by the equipment used.

Nice showcase Pan! Ive been hearing this brand for quite some time and glad you made a video with your take on it. I love the simplicity of this brand, just one subject and one chemical, thats it! I appreciate brands that dont overwhelm you with the same product just different color, scent, and sticker. Nice job on the car tho!
Bummer its not "available" here in the US, I mean it is, but its price gauged to hell with shipping fees more than the product itself (where i am located). On top of that, Cali has some pretty strict laws here to wash a car, let alone rinse with water on the driveway -___- (i know right?) I guess ill just keep crossing my fingers until they make an alternate chemistry to sell in the US, kinda like how KochChemie did with their line to bring to the US.

Looks like they do things differently and better for it too - a great choice for an awesome info-packed brand review 👍 It looks like doing the extra legwork to get those ratios right may be worth it. And I'm so glad you didn't edit out that brain cramp haha

I’ve been using Bilt Hamber since last year when I learned about them. I LOVE their Korrosol, Auto Wash, Touch-Less, Cleanser-Fluid, and their clay bars. The auto-wash is ridiculous in how little you need to achieve amazing results, and it’s super slick, a lot slicker than your usual Honeydew type soaps.
I like that the company doesn’t do gimmicks, just focuses on desired results. I like products from other brands, and use them as well, but Bilt Hamber is my go to for serious work when it comes to general cleaning, washing, or decon. I do want to try the Koch Chemie GSF, and their Active Foam washes, as well as the MotorPlast and GreenStar…I hear good things about them as well.

Your totally right about directions. You pros beat it into us to READ THE DIRECTIONS!! And yes we should. I'm not one to just wing it, and dump some detergent in a bucket. Measure it so we can have similar results on our cars every wash. It sounds like Insane cleaner, just don't make me Insane trying to dilute. I'll wait a bit to purchase until the scientists help us regular folks understand what their talking about. Super duper video Pan! Thank you a ton for reviewing BM!

Hello Pan, I know this video was only about actual cleaning, but I use the BH QD diluted about 1:10. Once the car is dry use really sparingly and it just gives the paint that little extra top up of sparkle.
Also rate the double speed wax.
