U ROCK ,UR THE MAN GARY,,GOD BLESS
It is a traditional cajun song usually played as a waltz.
@calchick82 Moon Mullican did the original "rock" version back in 1946. Bruce and Gary just collaborated on this one back in '82. One of the bigger early 80's hits from Friendly City Rock, WTCS, Fairmont, WV...
You are right !
calchick82 is correct. Jole Blon is an old Cajun classic performed regularly by various Zydeco and Louisiana-style bands including the great, late Clifton Chenier.
Great song, but the best part is the instrumental outro which they didn’t bother playing here
I haven't heard this song in ages! Didn't Bruce Springsteen write this song for Gary? I vaguely remember something like that. I know that Bruce would do "Quarter to Three" in his(back in the day)4-5 hour shows!
Old tune - Buddy Holly and King Curtis even did a version of it way back ...
Bruce sang the second verse on the album.
Good Stuff!!
@calchick82 Jolie Blond is a traditional Cajun song.
@calchick82 Yes he did. Saw them perform it together Awesome.
CRANK IT UP NOT JUST ON FRIDAYS, everyday 24 / 7
Is this the same guy on sax as on Bruce Springsteen's Sherry Darlin' ?
Doubt it. Guy’s good, but he wasn’t Clarence “Big Man” Clemons.
Sax player is Joey Stann, of Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes
He must have influenced Springsteen.
